I recently bought Azir, the Emperor of Sands. His mechanics are very interesting to me. I got him, but i get like 2 kills a game. So some tips would help, if you have any. I also want to know how to secure a kill. If i used my Q and its on cooldown, then how do i make sure i get the kills? of course i have AA but late game they do nothing.

Thanks for the tips,

First off, what are you building? Typically items you're going to want will be and item 3115 item 3116. These two together lock champs in place while rounding out your AP, AS, and Mana/Health to very comfortable levels. Beyond that, you can get creative, I like to go a brusier build using ROA and getting my CDR from masteries and runes as opposed to building morello or athenes. Rounding out with Rabadons and some sort of defensive item, usually Zhonya's.

Boots you can do a few things. Obviously Sorc shoes are a great buy if you do your CDR in your runes, if not go for Ionian if you don't have 40% yet. However going Zerkers is an option as well, not an option I like to be fair, but it's there to consider.

All in all, I typically build... item 1056 > item 3010 > item 3027 item 1001 > item 3020 item 3101 > item 3115 > item 3116 > item 3089 > item 3157 Rushing catalyst does kill your kill potential but if you focus entirely on farming and poking them out of lane you'll garner a massive CS advantage at no risk to yourself. Then once mid game rolls around and you have Nashors you can 1v2 constantly, using your soldiers to zone everything away.

Two tips I can offer.

A) Your wall has a neat trick most people don't take advantage of. You can "Azirsec" people over walls with it. Say you're doing baron and you see them trying to steal. Give them a push and E (and flash if needed) over the wall and behind them, use your ult and slam any squishies into the baron wall bouncing them through it and into your team. Works on any thin walls.

B) Don't take ignite! It's not good on him! If you REALLY need grievous wounds (Swain, Mundo), buy Morellonomicon. Barrier and Heal are way better and, in my opinion, Teleport is the best option. Since you'll be spending (with my playstyle) the majority of the early game farming, you'll have plenty of opportunities to gank bot lane. If not, using it to go back and immediately get back to lane keeps your farm on point. Plus, the CDR reduction when using it on turrets works for your passive turret, meaning you can put your turret down, B, TP back, and siege mid lane at full health.

Hey so I've mained Azir for a bit and here are some of the things I wished I knew when I started:

-Azir doesnt revolve around getting kills, taking summoner 14 is useless on him. The range you have to use ignite is smaller than the range you command your soldiers from, which means you need to be close to your enemy to use it. As a general tip, unless youre making a huge play, you don't want to be close to your opponent as Azir. Aside from summoner 4 , either take summoner 12 to get back to lane, or summoner 21 for more surviability. summoner 7 is good, but doesnt offer as much as barrier or tp. summoner 3 is also an option, but it's more of a ballsy approach to him. If you play safely and take the biscuit mastery, you should be able to stay in lane for the majority of matchups.

-Maxing w will get you the attack speed, but Azir is fundamentally about positioning - max your Q, than W, than E.

-Azir has the absolute worst early game out of all of the champions imo. Your goal should be surviving until 6 - this goes back to the first point, getting kills is your last priority. Azir scales very well into mid/late game, so you just have to keep your cs up and stay near turret until you have your ult. DO NOT TRY AND MAKE PLAYS IN EARLY GAME.

-There's a lot of debate about what to build on him. I personally find that rushing either a item 3165 or a item 3115 provides the most benefits for the gold. Your second item should be item 3158, which puts you at 40% CDR - HUGE for using your Q.

-Going double item 1056 should be enough to take care of your mana problems early game.

-There's a combo you need to master if youre going to be effective at him. After you've set up a soldier, you E to him and immediately after you've entered the E command, enter your Q command. The result should make you go further after you're already moving to your soldier. I believe it's called "drifting". I'de look it up on youtube or something.

-Using him just takes a lot of practice, expect to feed like youve never before when you try him in normals. I went 0-10 in bot games when I first started learning him. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck!

I'll give you some tips that I used with Azir. I started playing him when I was about Silver 3, now I'm at Plat 5 and he's my most played champion. I have over 130k mastery points with him. So, I've learned a thing or two.

First off let's get this part straight. summoner 14 is extremely good on Azir if you know what you're doing. How many times have you been in lane and gotten your opponent to 100- hp for them to just walk out of your soldier range and survive? Solo queue is about taking your opponent by the balls and never letting go. If you just try to passive farm for the first 20 minutes while you get your items, well guess what? They are doing the same. You want them to fear even getting near to try to cs. Ignite gives you kill pressure and can allow you to snowball if done right. Something I've seen a lot of Azirs do is just put down their soldier and then instantly q the solider to the enemy champion to poke... you NEVER do that unless its for a kill. Your q costs about twice as much as your w does. So this is what you do. Walk up to the creep wave and if you see the enemy get even near you to cs, drop a soldier right ontop of them and get a few autos on them. Then if they try to retreat follow up with a q and boom half their hp is gone. Do this every single time they try to farm and you will win lane pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Next is build path. There are a ton of ways to build Azir and to be honest he does well with almost every AP item. But the thing you DO NOT want to do is rush these 2 items item 3115 item 3116 . I'll explain why, Azir has a weak early game and the build path of these 2 items consist of item 3101 and item 1011 . These give you literately 0 offensive pressure in lane except a small attack speed boost that you would get with your w anyways. You become basically useless and can't even make use of the extra attack speed until item 3116 is done. Let's see how much that would cost. item 3115 is 3k gold, you would need 2 dorans rings for mana sustain (800 gold), and item 3116 is also 3k gold. Now you need boots item 3020 . That's 7.9k gold and you only have just over 200 AP and 0 mana sustain outside of dorans rings that you need to eventually sell anyways. This is a horrible build path and that build only has a 40% win rate. Now let's see what effective items we could buy for 7.8k gold. item 3165 2.3k gold, you only need 1 dorans ring now (400 gold), item 3020 1100 gold, item 3285 3000 gold. The total cost for this build path is 6.8k gold. You still have 1100 gold left over, that's almost 1/3 of a item 3089 and do tons of more dmg than the item 3115 item 3116 build path. You don't go through any weak item purchases like item 3010 item 1011 item 3101.

One important thing to understand is yes, item 3116 item 3115 item 3020 item 3089 item 3157 item 3135 is the strongest LATE GAME build for Azir. There is no doubt about that. But consider this.. Azir only wins 30% of his games that are under 25 minutes. Here are the stats http://champion.gg/champion/Azir. On average 70% of the games won't even go past the 25 minute mark, so by going this weak early game build and building for the late game there's no guarantee you'll even make it there. Pro players do go this build because they are experienced at stalling out a game and farming, without losing towers and having lanes snowball all over the place.

This is solo queue we are talking about. Where teams surrender at the 20 minute mark and you have to try your hardest to make an impact on the game. If you are playing Azir and the enemy team is playing Ahri. By the time you have your item 3116 item 3115, she could already have item 3285 item 3089 for almost the same price and start snowballing the game while you are still climbing out of your extremely weak early game and barely have 200 AP by the 25 minute mark.

This is the build I recommend you to try because I've seen success with it and you may like it as well: item 3165 item 3020 item 3285 item 3157 item 3089 item 3135

If the game still isn't over by now sell item 3285 for item 3116. Or you can skip item 3157 all together if they don't have any spells / hard engage you need to avoid and just go item 3165 item 3020 item 3285 item 3116 item 3089 item 3135 .

Before item 3115 was buffed by 20 AP and the AS was reduced by 10% is was considered by most a bad buy because it was a horrible build path for early game. Azir gets more passive AS from his W than from his old passive. So, the item is still mediocre on him in my opinion for solo queue.
