My job as a mid laner is control my lane?

So this is a little confusing. I was just playing a ranked game. Myself (Azir) vs Fizz. He roams top after they attempt to tower dive their jungler (sejuani) and shyvana. Both my top and jungle get out alive, but fizz comes and cleans up. Not only is my team but the enemy team is telling me it's my job to control my lane. I've always felt Azir is a pretty horrible roamer unless the enemy team has 0 vision. So I just farm it out and call missing when they are, which I did. From that double kill he snowballed incredibly hard.

Is there something I did incredibly wrong? You can see my stats, it was to a point where he was able to tower dive me, after 3 deaths I kinda stopped trying to 1v1 him, but he hunted me down all game. So...

You can try and folow up if they roam turning 2v3 i a 3v3 But you could also call out missing and try and get tower if they feed him double you cant do much

yes, it is ALWAYS your job to ward and call mia.

top and bottom ward river brush, mid ward both brushes.

soon as laner goes away for more than 45 seconds (roughly how long it takes him to buy and return after back) call an MIA.

You just have to know what you should do in terms of follow fizz, or take tower. Earlier in the game it's almost stupid to stay in lane and take the tower because you won't do anything to it. It might be a good idea to follow him and make that 1v2 to a 2v2 or possibly even your jungler

Clear wave (push it to his turret) then follow him (make sure it is a delay) come from the safer places thou( tri bush, towers) so you don't get flanked. If favorable enagage once is 2v2 or 3v3, if not just discourage him to keep top/bot. Still ping as long as it leaves

If you roamed top you would have been alone with fizz in the river, or at the least, risking it. With your jungler being up there, dragon is not an option. If your bot lane was under pressure, you could have roamed bot. If your bot lane was pushed, and your jungler and top were already top, you could have risked going up the river relying on flash and your WQE combo to get away if you encountered fizz.

The only really despicable thing you could have been doing would be slowly last hitting in mid. It would be acceptable to be roaming, backing, or pushing your lane to reset minion wave or something.

If you are unable to answer in some way, enemy agression, that is always the mistake that costs the game. Not easy to do.

TBH, the fact that your laner is benefiting another lane with roaming and you provided nothing in return is, in some sense, your fault.

In this scenario, I'd suggest you to , in early game, roam and gank one of the two adjacent lanes (top or bot) and pressure non-turret objectives (Dragon or Enemy Buffs).

In the later stage of game, you can add in tower pushing into your objectives.

Well you might not like the answer, but you picked Azir. He's pretty useless.
