to understand why que takes so long

if 10 people of equal skill all que'd at the same time then you would have little to no wait time. maybe 10 seconds.

but people are alittle worse and alittle better so then there is more of a factor.

now it is not first come first serve... but you do receive a higher priority the longer you wait and then there is a larger range of skill that you are going to go up against.

also if you win alot then you will be placed against people higher than your skill level.. but if you lose alot then you get placed with people theoretically worse than you. and this adjusts your score. if you duo que with someone higher or lower than you the game will try and put on the enemy team people with a better % to beat you. (dont try and carry people past gold... just get them the skin if you must then stop please, if they can carry and you can carry ... proceed.) and that takes time to find the team in theory will beat your team.

so MMR and elo and time in que all play into a factor of when the que pops.

thats why high challengers have to wait so long. so they can get grouped with master tier players and high diamond.

so if you are waiting longer than 10 mins for a que. you are doing very well.

I don't think people care much about whether Q's are long or not, especially in ranked. Majority of league players are in Bronze/Silver so they're going to get fast Q times. Everyone plays normal games so theres really no worry about Q times there either. Q times may be longer for high elo players but they encompass a very small % of the league of legends population.

TL;DR No one cares about long Q times because very few people are affected by it.
