Having problems with Shaco

I've recently picked up Shaco as a jungler, and I'm absolutely loving him. One problem I always have though is a general lack of experience gain in the early game. I know all about Shaco's great early pressure, so I try to gank as often as possible. The issue is, if I make ganks that much of a priority, I never get to farm, and I end up falling way behind in levels. Sometimes the ganks don't work out, so I've basically wasted my time, and I'm even further behind. My question is, how do you balance the need to gank with the need to farm in the jungle? With a jungler like Shaco, getting the lanes ahead early is essential, but if things go sour, you put yourself back hugely. Whenever a gank DOES work out, I take a few lane cs as compensation, but down in my elo (Silver 2, not proud of it, but I daresay not bad for my first venture into ranked) getting laners competent enough to work a gank properly is almost impossible. Any tips from the more experienced junglers around?

And one more thing: "use a different jungler, Shaco sucks in low elo" is not acceptable advice, and I'll just ignore you.

take into account what champion you are ganking and whos on your team? If I see tristana or le blanc or watever, I can be sure I'm not even gonna try ganking them If I see mordekaiser on MY team, I can be sure I'm not gonna try ganking for his cc less ass Those are general common sense not exclusive to shaco

speaking of shaco tho you could always.. idk NOT gank not often atleast, you could always be helpful by counter jungling and maybe kill their jungler so you are still farming, while fuqing up some one atleast ward yo jungle entrances and box their jungle bushes if they took skirmishes smite tho, maybe it's not uch a good idea to counter jungle and just stick to ganking lol

ignite's great on shaco, you may see alot of smite/ignite shacos but, my style atleast, all the damage I require is sufficiently found in the champion I'm playing so instead, i take exhaust, which is the cc im lacking plus you can never have enough cc

What I do is I always ask them to not overextend, so to avoid the other jungler's ganks and so that I can gank, whenever an enemy is overpushed you just Q into the lane, W behind them and it's a kill or a flash. To answer your question, if your team is always pushed and you just can't gank. try to counter jungle, ward their jg and dont forget to ping your teammates if you need help in killing their jungler.

I don't play Shaco, but I go against Shaco frequently. Protip:

buy Tiamat first item, after tier 2 jungle but before enchant. Tiamat allows you to farm very quickly while regenerating HP, so you can clear camps fast then go gank, as well as clear in between ganks.
