How To Prepare a Champion For Ranked?

So I have a lot of champs, I'd say.

Every single ADC in the game, and I've played all of them a decent amount.. I was wondering if someone or a few people could give me sound advice on getting champs I'm not experienced with, ready for play in ranked?

Like Twitch for example, I've played him some, and I had good results.. But I brought him into ranked and did sorta.. Meh. I know it's a good idea to practice in normals, but do you guys have some sort of tip/trick for learning a champion and learning them WELL?

normals will never be the same as ranked when my friend played his first ever ranked game, i was duoing with him and after the laning phase there was a 5 v 5 and my friend asked me, "What kind of team fight was that?" i was wondering what he meant and i asked him what was so weird about it and he told me, "Everyone just jumped onto eachother, you can barely see your champion. Everyone just exploded." and after he said that, I realised that teamfights in normals are very sloppy and ranked team fights are more explosive and the carries actually get focused

What I do when I haven't played a champion in ranked but have played normals and am competent with that champion is wait for a game where all of my teammates get the picks they want so they are more likely to play well and the game is less reliant on me. So long as you don't feed badly, odds are your teammates will carry you if you don't do well. This isn't 100 percent guaranteed but this is what I've had most success with.
