Quick noob question
When an ability has damage reduction, does it reduce true dmg? (I. E. Garen's W, Kat's E etc)

It doesn't.
I don't believe Garen's W does, at least not according to the LoL wiki, Katarina's E and Alistar's R don't state one way or the other so maybe?
That's actually a pretty good question.
true damage cannot be reduced by any means. If it could be mitigated then it wouldn't be "true" damage.
