I love TFT so much. Having so much fun with it!

I know a lot of players out there are struggling to climb and I love helping where I can -- so if you want to ask something, I'll give my best answer!

If I can help even one person climb, that's a good feeling!

Of course! I feel really great attaining plat (I just hit Plat 4)

So yeah, of course there's an ego stroke there. But I truly just want to provide some insight for people who might be struggling.

Which comp do you force every game, assassins or gunslinger pirates?

I hit plat easily P2 before the patch going Ninja Assassin. After the patch on my smurf ive played for a day on it and went from Iron to G4 forcing Yordles.

You really need to manage your econ doing it and try to winstreak early so preleveling is smart with it. most of the yordles are found easily around levels 6-7 So that's what you want to focus on. You'll need a strong early game comp. I usually go for early nobles an if i can change that to Demon/Sorc with Morg. Morg is the center piece of your yordle comp as well.

I have a 26% Winrate forcing that. Obviously some games it doesnt work for the 1st place. Its strong for getting top 4 for sure.

Plat here, Yordles or Pirate Blademasters have been my "Go To" comps this is namely down to how they are less contested yet strong in their own right and act as a counter to the meta comps (Yordles counters Demons as their high innate dodge makes it hard to manaburn them, Blademasters attack much faster than Gunslingers and are more durable with some potent AoE abilities, both are strong against Bruisers)

Getting 3 Pirates is fairly easy now as well with the introduction of TF and it really helps you keep your economy rolling, especially during crunch moments where you need to look for quick transitions.

I'm a big fan of Blademasters myself. The past few times I played it, though, I had a really good run early/mid and then got screwed late due to never finding a Draven. It is what it is, though!

Janna Me Fiddle1 votes

If you don't get Draven, swerve to making Gangplank your carry and drop a single Gunslinger in for the 2GS bonus, GP is sleeper and can absolutely decimate an enemy team by himself as his barrels do true damage. I recommend Seraphs/RFC/Gunblade or PD for him.

RavenMagus1 votes

My GPs always fail me so hard. Often his barrels just miss completely and that's when he manages to live long enough to detonate. Aatrox is a way better carry right now.

Janna Me Fiddle1 votes

Aatrox is getting nerfed Wednesday along with Demon synergy to bring him in line

I don't force any comp. I take whatever the first 4 2-star champs the game will give me and I build off of that.

I pretty much avoid both Assassins and Gunslingers. I spam demons, glacials, and Blademasters.(Obviously elementalists fit in there.) I'm p2.

But the boards told me rng is the only factor, how can you win if 99% is rng? How can the boards be wrong?

Congrats.

Lol I keep arguing with everyone that the game has a huge level of skill involved. I think people just do bad and feel the need to blame it on skemthing they can't control like rng.

If they would take a step back and analyze the situation and understand where they are making mistakes and try to improve they would learn the rng is less of a factor than your skill is.

People dont want to listen to anything, they didnt get the comp they wanted and got less items, so rng is everything.

They also cant realize that the point is coming 4th or better, not first every game. 4th is a win.

Hell, even just aiming for 5th or better is good. Thats better than 50% of the participants.

If RNG wasnt everything DisguisedToast and other streamer/tournament winners placement rates wouldnt look like 1,1,8,3,7,6,3,1,2

Top 4 6/9 times, top place 3/9 times, only bottom two twice.

Yeah, so RNG heavy to win 66% of all games, and of the games placed bottom 4, only 2 were bottom 2, and even then only one was bottom place with 3 games to counter that single one.

Objective is top 4, not top 1. Sure, RNG matters, and can screw you, but you have enough tools at your disposal to deal with RNG that youre physically not going to lose often because of RNG. Your own comment proves as such. Its no different than ranked games where challengers can still lose to silvers and bronzes 10-25% of the time.

Toadwart3 votes

No, the objective is top 1.

Do tournaments pay the same for first as they do for 4th? No they dont. Can you lose rank by placing 4th? Yes you can.

If the game had any large amount of skill, the best players would not ping pong from first to last. The fact that they are ever last, shows how much RNG is involved.

The hell are you on about?

Top 4 = victory, bottom 4 = defeat. No, you cannot lose rank coming in 4th, because 4th and higher is a victory. You gain LP for 4th or better.

If you think top 1 is the end all be all of every match, youre playing the wrong game.

And by definition, tournaments play more than 1 match.

Youre just factually wrong.

Whats the best comp rn to climb with? What to do when you're behind in terms of lvls on champs (not having lvl 2 champs early vs. players who have couple of lvl 2's, and being close to getting lvl 3) What to do when you get no items vs. some1 who got couple of them? How LP system works? To be more precise, how much LP do you get based on the place you end up?

Barkley1 votes

Don’t go into a game with any comp in mind. Buy everything until you have 4 tier two units. Build from there, keeping strong meta comps in mind if you can get them.

But forcing a comp is a great way to lose.

Literally the only way you’d ever find yourself with tier 1s after the 2nd carousel is if you were trying to force something and it didn’t work.

It’s not about how MANY items you get or someone else gets, it’s about using them wisely. Someone getting 5 items and using them improperly will absolutely lose to someone who gets 2 items and uses them smartly.

As far as LP, I actually have hit plat now (yay!) and when I win first place, I’m getting about 45-50 LP. When I lose 8th place, I’m losing about 35-40 LP. There are no placements, and there is very limited demotion protection.
