I remember when...... you had to choose between having a large team, a decent econ, and 3 star champions.

Aparrently, no econ people can do this now.

Some background of this game:

  1. The 3 Star Veigar was not a late game development. He had it by the end of Round 3. He also had the 3 Star Lulu..... meaning he had 0 econ, and considering the coin cost of just buying them, he SHOULD have been struggling to populate his levels.

  2. I had almost perfect econ. Meaning..... I: -Started Pirate -Lost 2-6 HP a round in loss rounds (early) -Had 50 Gold by Krugs -Spent most of the entire game at 62-68 Coins after a win -Had Early Leonas -Had Early Kayle who immediately got promoted to 2 Star BUT came with a item 3094 that I couldn't put on Lucian or Jinx, who also had a item 3161 -Had Hush -Had Red Buff -Had Sword Breaker -GA Pantheon -Lucian was Sorcerer/Ludens/Red Buff

But hey...... a no econ management player who spends the entire game at less than 10 gold can get 4-5 3 Star Yordles/Shapeshifters and can stomp all that effort.

(I also had 6 Kayles)

Who wins TFT now? It's the person who gets 5-4 3 stars for mismanaging their play.

Lol. He was rolling whole game hence why he had less levels than you. And he got lucky. Something that happens once per 3 games at best.

Who said that econ strategy is the only one that should allow you win? Maybe that is how it works in Dota Underlords, here you can win without doing that and this is one of the few things that it is good about tft.

Agressive rolling from start is the way how you get tier3s, not econ. This is because the champion pool is limited and shared by all players hence those buying early and rolling early will have higher chance of completing the champions. Also low gold champions have higher chance to appear at lower levels. So if you econ and buy XP to get a decent chance of not losing so you can sit on gold further you are lowering your chances to complete tier3s.

Also, we don't know how exactly you rolled your econ. I see plenty of ppls sitting on 50gold with shitty comp and low ranks losing more and more and more and by the time they get online they have 20< hp which means one loss from hardcounter (that can have less hp) and they are out.

And. Which tactic is best depends on other players. When I was starting, everyone was following some youtuber who said that the best strategy is to econ 50gold to krugs, then buy champs and econ to wolves then buy champs and then econ to raptors. The thing is, while this can work perfectly, when everyone is doing this it won't and it opens another strategies that prey on the fact that everyone else is doing this.

You need to understand that someone with a crap ton of 3 stars is simply rolling more aggressively. It's a different style of play. Being able to choose how you play is important, but if that person got so many 3 stars, it probably also meant that you weren't paying attention and didn't hold the units they wanted and instead just sat on gold.

To be fair, I find that the econ method doesn't work well for me and I tend to rr early if I know what my build will be. While saving up gold is great, it really has gotten to the point that its better to rr and try to get at least one 3 star somewhat early if possible, if not hit 7 about mid game. I tend to do a 1-2 rr followed by 1 xp increase each round if I have the gold. It varies on matches obviously.

I understand the frustration and I've been bouncing from high silver to low gold in rank and I have matches where sometimes I get out played and others by bad luck. Really it comes down to adjusting to your play style and how you can adjust yourself to or around the meta.
