PSA: The biggest "noob" mistake in TFT currently
This isn't flaming anyone, the game has no tutorial and zero information given. Just an observation that made me start winning way more games after I did research on 3rd party sites.
The intuitive thing to do is to constantly spend your gold to either level up or reroll to level up your champions as fast as you can.
WRONG
If you naturally get good synergies in the champion select then absolutely take them, if not it's usually better to lose health early on and save your gold.
WHY?
An easily missed mechanic is that for every 10 gold you have banked, you get interest on at the end of the round up to 50 gold (where it falls off harshly). Losing some HP initially and getting this gold interest is often far superior to rerolling several times to get one champion to 2 stars early on to win early rounds.
ALSO WHY!
Having this gold to get higher tier champions late game (epic/legendary) often snowballs late game over people with 2 or even 3 common tier 3 star champions.
