9.16 meta: Brawlers and Hextech are the " flash " of TFT!

" Disclaimer: This is just me releasing my frustration after losing 95 LP in D4, and losing my 2 days worth of progress, because I couldn't beat 6 Brawlers comps in all my games, with or without hextech bonus. I've been hard stuck D4 for 3 weeks, now. I don't know what to change in order to progress more... Maybe some of you share my frustration, maybe you don't. Either way, here I go... "

We all know how summoner 4 is practically mandatory, in regular League, on almost all champions. Summoner spells are supposed to be additional situational spells that would help you in certain games but Riot screwed up with flash. The spell is so useful and practical that it is no longer just an additional situational summoner spell, but a mandatory spell to take in all games.

Well, in TFT patch 9.16, we have exactly a similar thing here: Brawlers and Hextech. They're supposed to be just another one of the several traits in the game that we're supposed to take into consideration if the game is giving us those units. They're supposed to be relatively as impactful as other units in the game. But the reality is, in this meta, you're pretty much forced into getting them if you wanna win and/or place top 3.

They're pretty much the " flash " of TFT. Either get them or just lose. They're too useful and too impactful to be replaced by something else.

Although, sometimes I complain about how stupidly broken and OP Nobles are, I still know that it's pretty much a high reroll strat with a high risk/high reward kinda thing (Kayle is too OP, though). Also, I know that, in some games, it is possible to win without going for Brawlers comps. But those types of games are so rare and way less consistent and rely a lot on RNG being on your side, to secure you top 3, at least.

But with brawlers and hextech (2), they're so easy to get and so flexible that you pretty much can run only 6 Brawlers + random carry units with items, with no other synergies, and still win. They're just the most consistent comp to run if you wanna place top 2, if not place 1st.

The meta is so boring and so linear, it's disgusting to play and even watch, tbh. I'm guilty, myself, of playing this kinda comp in order to win. But after dozens of games playing the same sh-t over and over again, it just became stale and braindead. Just pick your Brawlers, pick Jinx or Camille for hex (2) bonus, and then pick any carry unit from the 4 or 5 cost units (including that Jinx) et voilà! You win... It's almost impossible to bypass that beefy frontline unless you're running the perfect Gunslinger/Blademaster comp and got lucky with your rerolls and items...

I never felt so hopeless against any of the previous broken meta comps before this one, tbh. Even when Void and Demons were at their peak and those comps were the meta, I still could win, here and there, with different comps actually (I still think Cho and Demons were too OP and deserved their nerf, but still...). But with Brawlers and Hextech, it feels like it's so unfairly hard to win late game. Like... if someone got that 6 Brawlers frontline (all 2 stars), it doesn't matter if you're running assassins, or yordles, or GS, or Rangers, or whatever... They are gonna win and they will place better than you, if not win it all at the end... You either get lucky and build the perfect counters to them (units/items), or you're pretty much never gonna beat them late game!

And please, don't tell me " Oh, why not get Morello or red buff, easy win, right? "... You think I'm not build that sh*t every game?! Of course I am, but even with those items, it's still too hard to apply it on all of them, especially that, now, those 2 debuffs tick slowly for 10 sec, so the burn is almost irrelevant late game... And brawlers don't need to heal anyway, they just need to tank dmg and buy time for that Jinx, Draven, Karthus, or whatever carry there is, to come online and wipe out your whole team... They're too damn tanky!

I mean... am I the only one having troubles beating Brawlers late game or what?! am I missing something?

Honestly, I would rather face 6 Knights comps than 6 Brawlers comps... At least, Knights can still be dealt with using so many other comps and they are not as unfair to play against as 6 Brawlers...

i feel like brawlers are ok, it's just that you want some cc/frontline and knights are still a bit on the weak side, and there are not exactly much other options. Also, they have Vi which is already 1 half of the broken hextech perk The alternative is Glacial with guardian, which seems to be prettymuch on pair as cc/frontline, but less flexible with it's backline

The bigger issue is that Jinx and draven are just to strong hyper carrys. Brawlers or glacial on their own have some damage issues, but just 1 of those two can deal more than enough damage for the entier setup with just 1 other imperial/gunslinger, with jinx also bringing the hextech bullshit...

Man.... I feel ur pain, it just sucks so bad to a point where I feel it's unplayable, but somehow it seems we are the minority...

However, I feel u missed few of the main issues with ur post.

  1. Its not brawlers that's the problem, its TANK meta, literally all tanky comps work more or less, some are just easier to get.

  2. Tank meta isn't here because off some miracle 6 brawler synergy, its here because of the items meta influenced by hextech!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why tanks so good then? Well because tanks are most useful and consistent units when ur items are disabled for 8 sec .

Dravens and jinx stacking is just a side effect off it being essential to push lvls fast to get the better tanks.. so early lvl 1 and lvl 2 carries cant be upgraded to lvl threee!. for their full potential.

Hextech almighty cancer off tft dose so much negative impact on this game its unreal....

It literally killed half of the comps, made only one leveling strat viable and added more rng then ever before..

  1. Item drops have gotten worse so u can't really consistently stack one unit and u have to spread ur items out a bit, gues on what type of champs only one item is the best? - tanks....

My suggestion : 1.Rework Hextech, phantoms. 2. Make wolfes drop 3-5 items, raptors 4-6. 3. Make drake drop 3 random item parts not full item.

Makes game more strategic and opens ground for creativity not just RNG!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wait you mean the comp i said was still busted is still busted. Wow shocking i was told Nobles were the busted unbeatable comp.

INB4 some dumb comment about the "hotfix" that didn't change anything meaningful.

I can't say I have an issue with brawlers.

My current problem is the pool is too watered down aka too many champions in the pool. If you get less than spectacular RNG it can take nearly the whole game to star up your champions.

At one point earlier today I refreshed 5 times looking to star up just one champion and couldn't find any of the six I currently had.

It's that darn hp bonus.. Brawlers are like raid bosses. Put item 3083 or two on em and good luck if you don't have red buff built.

ironicaly to your statem but i think noble hex win against brawlers, or at least i did not have problems dealing with them once I got a kayle with shojin and my jinx red buff and attack speed/ gunblade.

I demoted to Plat 1... and I'm still losing to 6 Brawlers!

Like, look at the 1st place dude: 6 Brawlers + Jinx! No items on any brawler, just 3 items on Jinx (item 3094 item 3072 + Red buff)... I got matched vs him 3 times in 5 rounds and I simply lost!

I had 1 more unit than him, I had actual good synergies going on to: 4 Wild + 3 Shapeshifters + 3 Sorcerers + 2 Brawlers + 2 Demons (A.Sol demon)

I had item 3083 item 3026 item 3046 onShyvana and Darkin + item 3161 on AurelionSol. I even had a 3 star Warwick.

I even positioned my units perfectly for his Blitzcrank and he kept grabbing my Nidalee with no items. I just couldn't win...

And before anyone says that his Red buff made me lose, just know that's it's not the case. What killed me, each time, is that I took so long to go through his frontline and at the end it's always shyv left, with GA already proc'd vs Jinx...

I played econ perfectly, I positioned perfectly, I actually had a good comp, come mid-game, but I still lost... to 6 Brawlers (no items) + a 2 star Jinx!

To be honest, If I didn't get matched vs that guy 3 times in 5 rounds, maybe I could've placed top 4, if not top 3. But RNG is a b*tch, I guess!

What can I do more?!
