Cursed Blade can reduce FOUR levels?!

Illabethe··24 votes·11,606 views

Yeah.

Something I didn't know: Cursed Blade can STACK. I just had:

-3 Star Darius -3 Star Garen -3 Star Vayne

-8 man team

A single Tristana on a 4 Gunslinger team beat me. Why?

Her friggin Cursed blade reduced both Garen and Darius to ZERO stars in the first 4 seconds of the fight! In 5 consecutive fights!

My Katarina was killing her 50% of the time, but omfg....

Cursed Blade STACKS?

This needs fixed. That's too damn powerful.

The sad part is they're nerfing Trist and not cursed blade. Like they just don't have any clue how their own game works...

Lol I just posted a "Nerf CB" thread. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels it is too powerful.

I didn't mind when I thought it was a single star reduction on high proc. But something's wrong since the last patch where it now is seeing a champ it's already reduced as not having been reduced and reduces them further.... or something like that.

I watched Darius go form 3 to 0 in about half a second in early match (before Guinsoo's stacked) because each gunslinger attack hits twice.

This statement makes it sound like you think it's bugged. I don't think it is, I believe it was intended. But the proc chance is way higher than it should be, the tooltip says "low chance" but it goes off very frequently each battle unless the wearer is deleted immediately.

On-hits in general are pretty broken with no way to build against the effects, hopefully they add in some immunity items or something down the line.

You think reducing 3 stars to 0 stars is "intended?"

hrooza dota 4 votes

based on riot yes.

we're talking about riot here, so yes

It was specifically listed in their 9.14 TFT patch notes that they intentionally made this change, "Cursed Blade can now reduce a target to 0 stars." So yes, it is intended. I do not hold an opinion on whether the change should have been made, but it is quite obviously intended. There should be no contention around this.

Although, when I read that patch note I thought it would scale 1 star down at a time, but I guess the change made it to where one proc reduces it to 0 outright? (Edit: now that I think about it, that's probably the "unintended" part you were talking about. If that is, disregard this comment I guess)

You're misreading/interpreting.

I'm saying that it can reduce a 3 star to a 0 star.

The patch notes were just about being able to reduce below 1 star (it used to stop at 1 star).

I figured I was misinterpreting what you were saying after I thought about your replies more. At first, I thought you were simply complaining about it stacking into a 0 star, but a few minutes after my I made my comment I realized you likely meant it was reducing by 3 star > 0 star in 1 proc outright, rather than it reducing to 2 star > 1 star > 0 star in separate procs. That's what my edit was trying to say XD

Apologies for the misinterpretation :)

"Chance to reduce by 1 star on hit" kinda implies each hit has a chance to do so regardless of whether they've been reduced or not.

It shouldn't be that way imo, but it currently is.

while i agree its op , it is not bugged atm, in fact it was bugged last patch as it return the champion to his older star sometimes [ aka if it proc on a 3 star vayne twice it turn her into 2 star vayne and then into 3 star vayne again sometimes in an endless loop and vayne never die]

RalinAura1 votes

Yeah I remember seeing that, and what I thought was... That instead of a second proc reverting them to the higher level, I thought that it was just a temporary effect. Which I think would possibly be a decent way to balance it, I still think it procs too often, but if each proc only lasted for 5-10 seconds, then it might not seem quite so OP.

hrooza dota 2 votes

the problem with this level reset is they get their hp back for some reason

i watched a 0 defense vayne not dying for 10+ seconds because each time she get the star back her hp go back up, the item was pretty much a way to hinder your self.

i think current effect is fine, just the chance could be lowered.

Item just needs to be removed or completely reworked. So far it has too low of a chance to go off to ever worth being combined, or now it's ridiculous when it has a decent chance to proc. I also think having it not stack would again make it not worth combining unless you had no other option again. Just a crap design item.

Call Me Nana2 votes

it does say 'Attacks have a 20% chance to Reduce enemy's star level by 1'

though it doesn't mention if it stops at 1 stack.

try using a cursed blade shojin lucian- you can drop a play by two stars by just using his spell.

VelvetNyan1 votes

lol, i mean almost everything in this game seems to stack, so idk why this wouldnt

Cursed Blade is not so overpowered itself, however with gunslingers (and)or hurricane it is extremely broken since it now works on the onhits and additional attacks. Another unit which can abuse it really well is Pyke as he is switching targets frequently during match and also Lucian since I believe it works on his onhit spell.

Imo the item should never reduce stars on more than one living champion per item instance.

Marshbouy1 votes

Yeah I'm abusing the fuck out of CB on lucian or volibear. It's mad OP.

Sire Hippington1 votes

Imo the AS+MR option should be changed into item 3091 , either as the old version with mr-steal or the current with on-hit damage/heal(though the heal would need to be on-attack to not be abused by gunslingers), cause Cursed Blade will always be an issue, either it procs reliably and is way to strong on anyone that can apply on-hit to multiple targets, or it doesn't and becomes as usless as SotD. Overall, i feel all of the proc chance effects on items are problematic for balanceing champs that apply on-hit on multiple targets. (near)Permasilence on multiple targets or disarm are just as bad.

0megon1 votes

Isn't it bugged? Maybe it might be confirmation bias on my side but it always seems like the first reduction actually has the 20% chance to reduce it but once it gets reduced for first time every consecutive hit reduces it further.

Toolmaker1 votes

You got really unlucky with the rng man, but the fight also probably lasted too long cause you probably had imperial noble or something, and it doesn't do as much damage as ninja assassins cause you need to get multiple ults off, and vayne is a trash unit.

Illabethe1 votes

You underestimate the comp. I was winning rounds in 5 seconds or less.

These rounds however were lasting 7-8 soley because even after 3 star demotions, Garen/Darius weren't dead and still needed killed to get past them.

KammyPlatinum1 votes

Thats not broken my friend team of 7 assassins his akali one shoted my whole team with her ability for 14k dmg now that's the definition of insanity

Illabethe2 votes

That akali must have been 3 star. If she did that, and the other team had cursed Blade, she wouldn't have even gotten her skill off....

KammyPlatinum1 votes

no she was 2 star with 3 items with assassin buff

ILOVETFTRNG1 votes

So let me see

  • Obnoxious Demons that drain your mana and literally rends you semi-useless.
  • Glacials that freez you the entire lenght of the match. And they decided to add items that shrink your characters level to 0 ... that item has to be removed, it kills the process of taking your time to think which of the characters you want to make stronger. It kills the core mechanic of the game.

"attacks on hit have a low chance"

I REPEAT

low chance = 100% of the time...
