Lack of " tactics " in teamfight tactics!

I'm plat 2 atm in ranked TFT and I gotta say: This is a very interesting game. I'm new to the " auto battler " genre, or what people call auto chess. I have a love/hate relationship with it, atm.

When the game doesn't bug out and when all 8 players get relatively the same amount of items and go differents comps, the game is actually very fun to play.

But right now, the game is unbalanced and it feels to me that the " tactics " in TeamFight Tactics is very misleading, tbh.

  • It seems to me that the early items you get, whether by carousel or by RNG from PvE rounds, is what dictates which comps you're gonna play. Which is weird to me because I would think that in this genre the champions should matter more?! But apparently, items dictate the game, the units come 2nd to that. As an example: If you don't have item 3083, even if you get 2 Shyvana in the shop menu, you won't buy them, because you'll think " Oh, I don't have warmog for you shyv, sorry! "

  • some items are just too powerful (item 3094 and item 3040) and others are just dog sh*t (item 3131 and item 3172)

  • Some units and traits are painfully too weak to be played right now: Mordekaiser Vayne MissFortune to name some. Wild and Void comps are just nonexistent.

  • Items like item 3137 are just antifun and goes against the very basic goal of the game, which is to lvl up your units to be strong (Why would Riot put this item in the game is beyond me).

  • Either go Demons or Gunslingers, or die trying!

  • Kennen.

  • +27 LP for getting 2nd place in plat elo... 3 games in a row! -72 LP If someone goes 8th.

So on and so on...

I know the game is still in beta, but since they put in on live server and gave it a ranked system, I don't care if it's beta or not. I really hope Riot fix these problems and make TFT better ASAP. I honestly can see myself enjoying this even more if it's fixed. It's not a bad game by any means, it just had a really bad launch state (reminds me of the Fallout 76 launch).

I disagree with people saying there is a lack of tactics in this game, as you have the ability choose items on the carosel to affsct your comp and unit placement has a major affect on winning or losing against an enemy, even the way you spend your early gold whether for units now or level rush to get better units for later earlier.riot even implemented a higher drop rate for items in later creep waves if you had bad luck early. Gunslingers are best but far from the only comp that works and even things like warmogs and gunblade aatrox are counterable with red buff and morello

The name is a misnomer; classic misdirection. Did you really think that they were going to name the game "Press Your Luck"?

tactics and strategy are two different things, strategy is planning and tactics is taking action

list of strategy in tft 1 choosing champions and or items in carousels 2 choosing champions in shop 3 spending gold on either champions or exp 4 planning as to which item combinations you want 5 planning to overhaul your team or not 6 choosing which bonuses to apply 7 choosing which synergies you go for 8 adjusting positions

list of tactics in tft 1 placing full items 2 placing item to make full items 3 placing/positioning champions

(edit nr 9 and 10 strategy) not that it makes sense but still 9 choosing to pick up mystery boxes to get items 10 choosing to pick up gold

Tactics is BIG part of the game. Rushing levels is just current meta cause of player dmg so you cant afford to lose at start also levels roll for you so you dont have to. Game has some luck involved but not at all how people say it is. Actually regular lol is much more luck oriented. You need to get lucky to get good team or enemy has r%%%%%ed team to win and its 9 other people. Its true items dictate what path you need to go but it doesnt mean its wrong, i like it. I see what items i get at start and champs i get so try to make something. Like if i get 2 shyvs or 3 and got warmogs or thornmail or hextech or red buff i can go with her and pivot later. If i can go to smurf at silver gold and crush opponents, its not so luck based then yet in diamond i struggle quite a bit
