remove item effects from drakes

Critmaster Garen··40 votes·12,841 views

i get it. at some point in riots playtesting team some prankster had the funny idea to let the drake benefit from the random item hes wearing, but this novelty has honestly worn out for me.

its not fun to have the thing spawn with item 3083 and be literally unkillable despite that some of your units have red buff, or it has red buff itself, or hurricane, or titanic hydra and deletes your whole team in seconds, with nothing you could have done differently in either case.

its actually quite ridiculous. as if item rng isnt bad enough by itself (i STILL just faced a guy with 3 completed items after the first couple rounds, and 2 more components on the bench) you get fucked over by randomly getting an unkillable drake and turn up empty, while your opponents roll shit like force of nature for their drake item drop.

how the fuck are you so bad at designing this game? the beta state isnt an excuse for all the broken mechanics that you should have known would be broken right the moment you came up with them, before you wrote the flowchart that would lead to the eventual code to implement them.

people are telling you for weeks to adopt a different system for item drops or at least normalize them, and youre trying your hardest to keep this shit in the game, and make 1 gold rewards equal to 2 or 3 items that your opponent rolls over you.

Watched my buddy get smacked by a item 3072 dragon, that healed for 20% max health every attack

Also, while we are at it, could drag + elder no longer drop items that make champs into a certain class. The more generic items are always useful, but if you are running a ranger comp and Drag drops an item that turns someone into a sorcerer, it is actually useless for you, besides the 20 AP

At that point in the game it is generally too late to comp shift, whereas getting a more "generic" item could actually help you

Well if anything the sorc one is the most useful on average of the bunch because it doubles your mana gain on attack but yeah getting Knight's vow is clearly the most OP thing ever.

its 40 ap and bonus mana on hit for your Ashe

"Could drag + elder no longer drop items that make champs into a certain class"

then

"I don't want drake to stop dropping those items"

Which is it then?

When the dragon gets better item rng than you and rolls you over too.

I can't remember the last time I failed to kill the dragon... Seems like you're positioning incorrectly. You should be moving your tanks to one side and your dps to the other so that the dragon doesn't splash onto your dps. It dies pretty easily if you do that.

Z3SIeeper2 votes

No it’s pretty clear it was unkillable for his current team. His frontline was holding red buffs and thus were the first to die. Without red buff’s debuff the Dragon started healing again, which btw is insane when u realize how much health it has. Actually unkillable.

I have happend that my dragon got sword of divine and proc it first seconds of fight. Every member of my team got nuked by one AA. Not fun.

it has nothing to do with positioning really. if the drake spawns with warmogs, and the red buff is on a frontliner that dies too fast to it because of targeting rng, then even though the rangers and back liners take no initial damage themselves, they dont have the damage to kill it.

it out regenerates anything they put out against it, until the team is wiped out by the drake 1 by 1.

its similar with some other items like titanic or cursed blade, where the drake just puts out way too much damage or curses your units and 1 shots them.

Du Ma Mi2 votes

Targeting isn't RNG, it targets the closest unit. If you see warmogs drake, just position your frontliner with redbuff one unit behind any other front liners and it will usually end up being the 3rd or 4th unit killed, which can make a big difference in the drag fight.

Until they fix this though grabbing a blitz when ur close to dragon round is always a good idea since he CC’s it for a good period of time and can shove it into prime position for your team.

Works regardless of comp and with a 1 star blitz.

Can’t say it woulda saved u cuz yeah red buff on frontline means u gotta pray it doesn’t target them first.

It's pretty clear that riot would rather have a gamemode that favors bruh moments over competitive strategy.

i got drake with this item, killed it. well i got drake with huricane it was much more scary

but yeah overall removing the effect or making it 50% would not make it worse

i had a drake with item 3083 against me, and despite having two red buffs on my team, the drake was unkillable. because the red buffs happened to be on fronline champions who died during the drake fight.

i got it down to like 15% health, and then it just regenerated to full when red buff wore off. didnt matter that one of my rangers which was an ASHE had rageblade. even with occational freezes it just ended up wiping my team.

a few days ago i had one with hurricane and my team almost instantly dropped.

what happens when you run a sorcerer comp at this thing just randomly spawns with dragons claw? even 50% item stregth would destroy your team.

the worst part is, there is nothing i could have done better in this situation.

just remove those effects entirely. its too much game deciding RNG. not only do you take damage from a lost drake fight, but you end up empty while your opponents get a completed item.

Sounds like your fault if you have that on two and let them die.

brother, you cant plan for the fucking dragon to have a random item that fucks you over. it just happens.

"but if you use x or y build" doesnt work if you dont plan out your entire stratgy towards it from midgame on, and roll the correct champions and items to deal with it. you can MAYBE expect people to have a red buff or morello on their team, but often that unit is a frontliner and dies as one of the first ones in the dragon fight.

not to mention the thing has so much health, that a drake spawn with titanic hydra doesnt leave most teams even a fighting chance.

there are a bunch of cases, where it just becomes impossible to fight.

there are also other problems with your approach, as you still need to primarily get teamcomps that beat enemy players, otherwise there is no point to even build for beating drake on the off chance that it has one of those items.

just remove the goddamn item effects.

its not fair for someone to get force of nature on drake and have the fight be a breeze, and someone else get completely destroyed by a warmogs.

I have an idea, everyone buy more little legends! If Riot sees this game mode makes money, they'll be inclined to fix it, just like ranked, right?
