we need an "enemy missing" - ping

right now, if we want to communicate enemies missing from their lanes and potentially roaming, we have to fall back to the "what the fuck are you doing?" - ping, which can lead to confusion and miscommunication.

Well what did you expect? People aren't use to jokes in the gameplay section even if the thread is an obvious joke. They only know serious threads & QQ threads.

I was thinking what else they could make it and somehow concluded it should nuclear symbol that automatically pings bot, has a blaring alarm sound, and reads "You're going to die." beneath the symbol.

I know this is a joke, but seriously... I was playing adc a few days ago and pinged that our laners were missing. My Support is instantly tilted, saying "OMG it was just one CS I'm trying to help you push you %%%%% so we can get the tower, what the %%%% is wrong with you..." etc.

And I'm like dude... it was actually just a mia ping.

I'd bet that his support is projecting. Check it out.

A non-salty support player will not jump to such salty conclusions. Regular players who see that their opponents are MIA will interpret MIA pings as such, because that is what they see.

Salty supports, like his, will see the MIA ping and assume they are being salted against, because they themselves are salty. Which SSJTribe confirms, based on the support's response.

Or when you use the ping to say your laner's mia and they then use the same ping to harass me after the don't back off and die. They then tell me I should follow my laner around like a puppy dog and that I should never try to push my lane up first.

It should be obvious to everyone here that the game already has an enemy missing ping, no? So from this, we can deduce that Mighty Marin's comment is sarcastic (as if the giant Pantheon thumbs-up wasn't enough of a hint). Which would mean that his joke whooshed over YOU.

It's not even the missing ping's fault.

People used to always troll ingame, and Riot tigtened their grip around that, so people flamed with the in-game chat.

Riot started punishing that with the tribunal, so people were toxic pre-game and post-game.

Riot starts punishing that with the automated system, and pings are introduced. People use the MIA ping to harass others.

Take that away, they'll use the "danger" ping next. Communication is a tool that can be used in various ways.

If a person were to say that typing/chatting/voice call/communication is just bad for the game and makes you do poorly, they'd be wrong. The problem is the community, and people in general.

Side note, toxicity via ingame behavior is happening, and Riot can never have any ways to fully deal with that problem because it's extremely hard to detect.

voice chat works fine in dota assuming youre not 1k rated. (very easy to be at least 3k)
