Top 4 are gain LP, bottom 4 are lose LP. The further you are from the center, the greater the change. Spots 4 and 5 have decent odds of being entirely LP neutral, however.

It depends on the MMR of all other players in the game in relation to your own MMR. If you are higher MMR than them, you can lose LP with 4th or even 3rd place.

SukishooAug 9, 20191 votes

Yeah it just depends on your MMR. The first four places are supposed to gain LP and the bottom four are supposed to lose LP.

However it can severally change, especially if you are say Iron, and happen to be ranking with a friend that is Silver. You then can even gain LP for coming in 7th. I had some really screwy gains when my friends and I tried playing before we all caught up to each other in Plat.

You can literally lose LP for coming in 1st nothing is guaranteed....lol there is already a video of someone losing LP after getting 1st place.

That has a very small chance as you have to literally be so high in MMR above anyone else in the lobby that it's like .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance.

There should be 0% chance that you lose LP for coming in the top 3 period...MMR or not you beat more people in the match overall it would be nice if they kept your overall record in the game and used that as well for determining LP gain. Toast was the one who got -LP for coming in first and the account he was using was in freaking silver....like what?

Yeah well I've gained LP for coming in 7th when Riot said we were to only gain it for being in the top 4. So nothing is right with the way they set the system up.
