This game makes me cry

Linda de Mol··48 votes·15,351 views

Welp I'm not the most stable person honestly but never thought a game would make me cry

I always try my best so hard, because I really want to climb in this game. Currently i'm on a 62% winrate with 90 ranked games because I give everything I have every game - and try to improve and look back at my mistakes.

But if you get 3,4,5,6 trolling people in your matches who just ruin your rank on purpose - or say the most horrific things and then intentionnaly feed. It sometimes make me nearly cry.

Why can't we just have only players who actually want to win - and who are not here to ruin the experience of other people ?

I don't mind losing if everyone tried their best. Sure people can have bad games. I have bad games too where everything just goes wrong. But if people die once at minute 5, then say 'game over I go troll sur 15' then I just feel so sad.

If your crying over LoL you need to take a break from it because that's addiction and it isn't doing anything good for you.

Faustavian7 votes

I think it's not the game itself, it's how hopeless he is to actually fix a problem. Because he can get better at his own mistakes but you can't fix people who intentionally want to ruin your time. For some people it's just the thought that, "this person isn't even here to have fun, they're just trying to make it miserable for the rest of us." and it can't be fixed because eventually you WILL get those types of people.

This is never the solution. Quitting helps nothing, and gaming is not an addiction lol

It definitely does, if you just replace what you're quitting with something else. There's plenty of games worth playing that will be just as fun as League but without (or at least with less) toxicity. It's only a matter of finding them.

and gaming is not an addiction lol

Not by default, but when it hurts you and you still keep coming back to it, it could well be.

You can't beat a(n intentionally) flawed matchmaking. I mean, finally you will, but it's intended to make you play A LOT more than you should to get to your deserved elo.

It's up to you to accept or not this absurd system.

If Riot game made it so players felt they had a chance to win every game, instead of this snowbally OP dumbass mobility champion shit, then maybe the people you would play with and against might be more even keeled. But as is, for the sake of making more money, Riot Game are happy to appeal to the shittiest rung of player and whalers and that means a really shitty experience for anyone who wants to play a decent game. I agree, but they want games to move quickly. And the "boring" style of game play from early seasons isn't going to survive this fast food craving audience. Look at whats going on in the NFL with the referee calling system compared to college football. It's sadly the truth of commercial sports.

Edit: I'm not a fan of this ideology nor am I currently happy with the state of the game. Bard

Honestly i dont understand why everyone thinks there is only "fast food craving audience" if nothing elese market is oversaturated with this fast paced nonsense so riot will not milk anything substantial from it and others games fails misserably moment they try simmilar changes to cater to completely different audience (hello C&C 4).

Dont waste your diamonds on those players or on this game. They don't deserve it.

Play something else.

Sadly that can't happen this is a team game , you have 4 other humans on your team , you don't know what they went through and how tilted they are and what is going to happen

there are different types of humans and most of humans I meet irl tbh are the type who would be extremely toxic if they would be League players including my parents ( I can't deny it )

Really no one can control every single Human's action , if that happens we wouldn't have wars and racism and terrorism irl anyway This isn't something that happens in League only , it happens in all team games , even Football where they would blame a teammate who did a foul that costed his team a Penalty kick that ended up scoring a Goal for the enemy to lose them the game and then he just gets hated and blamed and ends up moving to another team

All what you can do it playing and praying for nice teammates , those games happen too when you just get a full team of nice people

You are not your rank You are not your MMR You are not your winrate You are not your k/d/a You are not your cs score, damage total, or even your skillshot hit% These things do not make you a better or worse person, they are just observations within a video game that only matter within the confines of that game The other players in game can only see these things, so what they say is only based on those observations Because they only see those things and those things are not you, then they are necessarily incapable of saying anything of substance about you

This is the mentality I'm trying to use as I get back into the game. I cared too much about winning and losing before and it made the highs and lows too much of a roller coaster before while also keeping me from playing what and how I wanted to.

Agree. Just want to add to that when people flame in game they are just generally toxic. It has nothing to do with who they are flaming or why, it's just the kind of people they are.

It took me a while to learn that. Figured it out because I have been cussed out and flamed 3 times already for WINNING a game. I remember the first time very distinctly, I was playing Velkoz with a Fiora top on our team. Fiora started dying to an enemy Renekton. Mid way through the game she calls out in all chat "this velkoz is trash" then starts saying I'm useless and my build is awful. During this time I steal drag, get a quadra kill, then we push into their base take the inhib and end game.

In the end game screen they are still telling me how bad I am. It really has nothing to do with how they really view or feel about you. Has nothing to do with you at all. Ragers are going to rage.

Fermi Paradox3 votes

I recommend looking for some friends to play with. I completely stopped playing rankeds because the environment is toxic and unfun. I play games to have fun, so why would I voluntarily ruin my mood by playing SoloQ? Playing with friends has its benefits - no trolls, no flamers (those who do aren't your friends, really), better communication and an overall better mood while playing. You can joke around, play casually and everyone is fine with it or you can tryhard, do your best to win and everyone is also doing their best.

Really, League is a completely different game if you don't play with randoms :)

Fraggleroc3 votes

I hope Riot Games sees and reads this.

This is what your game is doing to some people, Riot. Ultimately, they are the ones who can come up with tools to better the environment.

SirHydro1 votes

Riot does this to their own employees, they do not care.

They're already aware. This is more or less what they want. They intentionally made it so that we have to go through frustrations to occasionally get enjoyment. That's how they make people addicted. They didn't hire people that studied psychology for nothing. Hell, they even released Zoe specifically because of this. The QA testers said they despised playing against her, and they shipped her without making any changes.

It really does suck. I wish people would grow up- i've played so many games with people who started trolling because they weren't the star of the game, even though we were clearly winning the game.

https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/timmy-johnny-and-spike-2013-12-03

They're the timmy of this article. They don't care about winning, they care about winning BIG and being the reason they win. I hate players like this. It's so annoying playing with someone who plays to show off instead of winning the game because if they aren't in the drivers seat they throw a fit. I honestly wish these people got punished(since a lot of them do type things like "gg it's over i'm done" or "i'm afk farming all game" or something of the nature alongside actual trolling), but it isn't going to happen.

They're the first to flame, the first to give up, and the first to troll. It's annoying to have to deal with, but what can we do? I'd suggest taking a break after each loss due to trolls. I like to do something physical(I like to take walks) or artistic(3d modeling or drawing generally for me) it helps take my mind off of it.

That's the whole point of league. That's is core design philosophy, its core hook. Winning the game isn't the most important part. Teamwork, skill, strategy, execution, they all take a back seat to getting fed and stomping the opposing team. This goes right back to its inception in DOTA. Its why the game was toxic back then, why its still toxic to this day, and why no amount of honor systems or rewards has ever/will ever fix it.

They'll never go away, you'll never constantly go without trolls, because at its core the point of the game is to be as selfish as possible.

Velasan2 votes

Except for the crying part that pretty much defines my experience this season. I've lost more games from afker's and intentional feeders, along with a couple of troll supports than actual regular games of League.

But then again Riot has spent the last year tearing the game apart. It's currently in pieces and there's no reason to expect it to function that well. If you're going to play the game at the moment you play it knowing it's pretty messed up and just try to have fun with it in any way you can.

I feel OPs pain. 7 game loss streak where I was positive k/d/a, top damage charts, and at least 2nd highest vision score for my team in most of them. You can ward, communicate, show up to help your team, position well, land abilities, but it doesn't matter. You'll get one or two team mates who actively try to lose because they would rather take the team down with them. It always comes in waves of good/bad teams. every 10 games or so you get a team who wants to work with you, the next 10 are usually filled with trolls.

Mullaous2 votes

It gets better when you get higher up. People don't care because they don't have any elo to lose where ur playing atm. So alot of people down there queue up to fk with games, and riot won't do anything because they'd lose to much money kicking all the people doing "for fun" shit strats in ranked in low elo.

reaper40421 votes

Take a break man. If you're getting upset to the point where you cry over it take a break for a few days at least. This weekend was so bad I literally won 2 out of 8 games. And the 2 I won weren't because I was good, it was because I got to play against the feeder. Take a break, play Apex or something, relax and come back with the mindset that it's just a game. And mute all.

Do what I do and slowly play less and/or stop playing at all.

I used to enjoy League way back in S2 to early S6. But after that, the game's gone stale for me with the wacky and absurd changes to the game and even the mobility and damage creep are making me play less. I only play it nowadays if my other friends at school are online.

Kaisha1 votes

Don't play league. There's nothing here worth learning. Those no skills or strategies worth the time/pain. You'll soon realize that your only purpose in league is to feed the whales, in order to keep the gravy train rolling.

I feel you bro, recently played a game as yorick and had a rammus buy 6 tears and run it down mid. Threw my headset on the ground and it broke into three pieces. Take at least a one day break from league, I did it I am way less angry and my game are better. Try that

Kattzy1 votes

I totally understand. This game can get me down sometimes too, mainly from the insane toxicity and trolling that can happen so early (like if the jg fails a gank and the laner gets super mad, says ff go next and starts inting). That said, one of the best feelings is having a nice, supportive team that doesn't give up even if we're down early and then we come back and win. I wish you more of the latter!

The thigh guy1 votes

I mean. A lot of times now 1 death does equal and entirely lost lane. That’s just how riot has decided their game has to be.
