Why are Gunslingers getting a 50% buff to their trait?

Illabethe··3 votes·1,274 views

(4) going from 2 extra targets to 3 extra? (6) going from 3 to 5?

WHAT? That literally means Wild can go 4 Gunslinger and knock out 6 champs in the first 2 seconds. Try a Crit Lucian or a Crit Trist sometime and put them in a 4 team. They MELT it.

Gunslingers are weak, but i dont think this is the right way to fix that :-/

I actually find gunners strong in gold ELO. People don't seem to know how to position around splash damage.

2 gunners 2 knights, good through till mid game.

Where are you learning about gunslinger changes?

probably because gunslingers statistically don't perform well, and since riot is riot, they throw random buffs at them instead of figureing out why gunslingers don't do well.

The reason why gunslingers aren't great overall is that they are heavily item reliant. If you get the needed items for them, especially guinsoos+either crit or on-hit, they can totally destroy. But if you just don't get those items, they fall of hard mid-late. And with the addition of sparring gloves, getting the right items became less reliable, so gunslingers do well less often.

Thing is, with that PBE buff, nothing will changes about that. They will hardly perform better without the right items, they just will be more dominant if they get the right items. It's a pure win harder buff that won't really help them do well more reliably.

Also, gunslingers are to RNG reliant. Just had a game with a double-RFC+IE 3star graves, and dropped out first casue two fights in a row he would neither crit nore get a multi hit till he dies...

You have no clue what you're saying. There's MORE "Right items" now, and gunslinger items are the most common in the TFT GAME.

-Red Buff -Luden's Echo -Guinsoo's -RFC -Infinite Edge -Frozen Mallet -Runaan's -Hush -Cursed Blade -Phantom Dancer -Static Shiv -Giant Slayer -Deathblade -Spear of Shojin -Blade of the Ruined King -Titanic Hydra -Repeating Crossbow -Swordbreaker

Those are ALL Gunslinger items. That's 18 of 37 items explicitly being used on Gunslingers.

Furthermore, the new IE is one of the STRONGEST Gunslinger items! 45-65% Crit rate Gunslingers with 3-4 target hits can do 2400 damage in a single auto attack.

  • Redbuff is nice, but doesn't do much damage to carry fights. Though really usufull vs the usuall warmongs-shifters
  • Ludens is early+lucian only, it falls of later on
  • IE needs 3stars to have the needed ad as backup, and ideally additional AS to really carry it home.
  • Mallet is spatula and requires glacial
  • Hush is great, but unreliable without additiobnal AS and it doesn't help the damage issues mid/late
  • CB needs additional AS to reliably proc enough to be relevant
  • SS similar to ludens falls of quite a bit esepecially without further AS
  • GS is great, but allone without more as won't be enough
  • BotrK is awsome, but spatula+recurve is hard to get
  • Hydra is ok, though unless you have 3stars, the lowish base hp of gunslingers is somewhat noticeable for it's damage. It's mostly for when you can't get anything else with your recurve
  • RC is unreliable and not that great without IE, though there are certainly worse options
  • SB similar to hush needs additional AS to be reliable and doesn't solve damage issues.

The main issue is that nearly all the great items require recurves, and recurves are usually top priority in shared drafts so if you don't do horrible early, you have low chances on getting one. So even though there are more finished items for gunslingers, they are still very reliant on recurves which are less reliable to get now. The only way to succed without recurves is getting multiple 3stars, and that's not a reliable thing either and even then you'd need atleast glove items(IE/RC) and glove is right up there with recurve and spatula in priority for shared drafts.

You know there's 0 gunslingers that are Wild, right?

And what you're suggesting is an 8 unit comp (When core comps require lv6-7 since you can easily DIE before then) that requires Brawler's gloves - the most contested item in the game that's not Spatula because Assassin's want IE and everyone wants Thieve's Gloves. That comp is almost never going to happen and there's almost certainly a better comp you could've used in those scenarios (Like, idk, WILD ASSASSIN)

And you're also failing to recognize what Slingers brought to the table was a % chance of having Runaan's Hurricane. An item that's rarely built unless you're topping off a fed Draven. Sure, the AoE is useful, but unless the units are powerhouses like Jinx they're not going to have massive damage. In fact, the units are primarily used for debuffs since even if a debuff can only affect 1 target per auto, you have a better chance of it actually sticking to someone. Gunslingers are terrible at dpsing compared to Rangers and Blademasters and thrive on AoE instead.

The problem you've suggested is a fake one and if there is an issue with the Gunslinger buff, your imaginary 4 Wild 4 Gunslinger highroll theorycraft scenario isn't it.

It isnt because gunslinger cant perform well the problem is Shapeshifters are freaking everywhere and melt any squishy adc without problem which force people to counter with glacial and glacial force yordle and yordle force wild/shapeshifter.

I don't think one meta being semi-standard justifies tossing a common early game build into an OP status and then also making it a strong late game status. Also, keep in mind, it's COMMON for people to turn Gunslingers into Blademasters and make a combo team, which means this could mean 12 attacks per champ piece per round of attacks. With Crit items, that's literally turning auto attacks into stronger than skills damage outputs.
