What If The Randomness Of The Item System Got Removed?

Simply:

  • For each minion killed, you would receive golds
  • Using the golds, you could buy items, just like in Summoner's Rift

The result:

  • The TFT would be less luck-dependent (hence, fairer)
  • The TFT would include more strategy (spending golds on items vs rerolls vs leveling)
  • Unlike the solution to set the number of dropped items to a fixed number, this solution creates more versatile gameplay

There are a couple reasons to keep items random:

  1. It keeps there from being a stale meta, as you can't control what you buy
  2. It keeps a measure of thinking on your feet, as you're bombarded with new situations of having to figure out what items to build given the current situation and items given, rather than a planned measure that you simply work toward
  3. It gives you a gambler's desire to keep playing until you get the "plenteous perfect items" high. This is a terrible reason, but it does directly make the game addictive (even if less fun and less skill based).
  4. On average over hundreds of games, the bad luck you get will be canceled out by the good luck, and your rank will reflect the way you can handle both advantageous and disadvantageous situations on the fly, rather than purely planned teams before the match begins.

Though the number of items you get should CERTAINLY be more regularized, because everyone's tired of fighting 6 items with only 2...

Since TFT is just a worse version of Dota Autochess/Underlords they might aswell go all the way and copy the way items are distributed.

If this where a thing then they would have to remove spatula. or make it so expensive its useless.

If they didn't you could:

  1. Spam FoN and fill your side completely with champions.
  2. Have 6 Assassins all with Knight/Glacier/Sorcerer.

Then champion rolls will be the next big complaint.

I feel like the biggest problem is that item drops from monsters are random. I think it'd be best if everyone got the same amount of items, even if they're shit items, it's better than nothing.

because of how people complain so much about the item RNG and the champion selection pool... maybe it'd be better to make the carousel just be champs and then only have 1 item spawn per minion/monster wave.

then it really would be fair and those of you complaining because "i can't get muh items" would stop complaining.

The META would be stale soooooo quickly.

RNG items helps ensure you build different comps each game

I mean having an item shop that's overpriced(20-30 gold) to use in the end game when your champs are way too far from being upgraded would be kind of good. Right now the items are too strong to be bought for anything cheaper.

Imagine this gamers, An auction instead of a draft

There are items/champions in the middle of the room, as many choices as there are players left in the game. Everyone gets to place a blind bid on a champion of their choice, and if their bid was the highest, they get their pick. If not, then they get nothing. Accompany this change with normalized item drops (quantity), but still random items. Now the most "OP" items come at a steep price and you have the option to go for a cheaper, safer option if you want.
