[CHAMPION CONCEPT] Akusuna, the Sand Demon

Among the bands of those who wander the newly born Shurima kingdom is Akusuna, a boy born into a cruel world. When he was born, or should I say, when he was reawakened, he was taken in by a band of treasure hunters lead by the woman known as Sivir. He was found deep within an old, already stolen from tomb within Shurima. Only a baby at the time, no one knows exactly how or why he was sealed into the tomb and was able to not age or die. Some say it is a curse while others say the tomb was enchanted with magic. Both are incorrect, but at the same time correct. Akusuna is possessed by an evil demon that was trapped itself inside Akusuna when he was born to avoid being killed by Azir and his army. To stop the demon, with a heavy heart, Azir was forced to seal the baby and the demon inside a tomb sealed by the life force of the grieving mother of the trapped boy. Time was frozen inside the tomb and neither the demon nor boy could do anything. Now, free, the boy and the demon share the same body and, over the years after the tomb was opened, the boy has begun to become corrupted by the demon. The demon has seen potential in this boy and now wishes to use him as his vessel of destruction. The boy, Akusuna, is now the unable to be saved vessel of the demon... or is he? And how long will the newly awakened Azir take to discover that Akusuna has been freed from his tomb? Soon, Akusuna will strike with the power of the desert that the demon has given him.

Akusuna is a pure Mage that is able to manipulate the sand always swirling around him to both attack enemies and defend himself. However, being completely immobile and having a short range for attacks, Akusuna is forced to have to get close to deal any real damage or have any actual impact on the fight. Just don't let him fool you into thinking he is weak at close range since he is a Mage. Getting locked into his combo of spells is a deadly mistake that you will definitely regret. It is important to harass Akusuna once he has used all of his Sand since he has to be out of combat to regenerate Sand and, alone, his abilities are rather weak in damage and only mediocre in crowd control. When used in a combo, however, he can almost completely control a fight if left alone, especially duels. Most comparable to the likes of Malzahar and Brand, you don't want to go in deep when he has all of his arsenal to launch at you. At least without a secure plan.

LORE http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140904231151/leagueoflegends/images/e/ed/Shurima_landscape.jpg The heat is... unbearable. How much longer till fresh water? Only an hour away young child. However, you know our deal. I give the power to take revenge on who killed your mother and you don't reveal my presence. Yes. I know... I can't kill that person if I die of thirst however. Quite, young idiot. How I despise your stupid comments. You will be punished for saying such. Aaaakk... you idiot... my head... ugh, fine, I'm sorry. I need you to do something. You see the person beside you? The one staring right at us? Yes. Kill him. I can see that he knows the truth now. I must have accidentally shown myself. He is too scared to talk now, but once this band of raiders gets us to water, kill him. I will help if needed. If we are figured out now... I will never get to kill the one... and that cannot happen. This fool will regret ever helping us. Make it swift... but also slow... http://cache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/blogs/bigpicture/sahara_12_08/01_03B.jpg Image from http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/12/green_sahara.html

KIT Akusuna, the Sand Demon Mage Health- 370 (+70 per level) Health Regen.- 3.25 (+0.35 per level) Sand- 100 Armor- 3 (+0.75 per level) Magic Resist- 15 (+0 per level) Movement Speed- 330 Attack Damage- 44 (+1.75 per level) Attack Speed- 0.63 (+1.95% per level) Attack Range- 475 (Ranged)

Akusuna uses Sand to cast his spells. He begins to erode the ground underneath him into sand after being out of combat for 5 seconds. He then begins to gain 5 (+1 per level) Sand per second. His Sand is fully regenerated over 4 seconds (even in combat) when he is inside his team's fountain. None of Akusuna's spells have a cast time or interrupt his previous commands/actions.

Passive- Sand Orb Akusuna has a shield of sand around him that shields him from damage, boosts his defensive capabilities, and empowers his basic attacks. Innate- Sand Shield: Akusuna is surrounded by an orb of orbiting sand that provides him with a constant shield with 180 (+25 per level) (+40% AP) health that also grants him 25 (+4 per level) armor and 20 (+3 per level) magic resist. His basic attacks are also enhanced to deal 9 (+1.25 per level) (+15% AP) bonus magic damage and he gains 9% (+1% per level) attack speed while the shield is up. The shield is removed when it is either destroyed or Akusuna runs out of sand. If the shield is removed by being destroyed, it will return after a 10/8/6 second delay as long as Akusuna has Sand after the delay. Levels: 1/7/13

Ability 1- Sand Wave Akusuna sends a wave of sand to the target area, pulling enemies with it and dealing damage and slowing enemies in the area. Active: Akusuna sends a wave of sand to the target location, dealing 25/35/45/55/65 (+10% AP) magic damage to enemies in between Akusuna and the targeted location and pushing them to the targeted location. Once the Sand Wave reaches the target location, all units caught in the sand and at the target location take 50/75/100/125/150 (+40% AP) magic damage and are slowed by 15% (+2.5% per 100 AP) for 3 seconds, decaying heavily over the duration. Sand Wave cannot push enemies out of Devouring Desert, instead pushing them to the edge and then dealing blast damage. Cost: 30 Sand Cool Down: 8/7/6/5/4 sec. Range: 525 Blast AoE Radius: 125 Projectile Speed: 395

Ability 2- Devouring Desert The target area becomes quick sand, dealing damage and slowing enemies who move through it. Active: After a 1.75 second delay, the target area becomes quick sand that will drag enemies in for 3/3.25/3.5/3.75/4 seconds. Enemies that move while inside the quick sand will take 25/35/45/55/65 (+20% AP) magic damage per second and be slowed by 15/17.5/20/22.25/25% for 1 second, stacking up to 3/3/3/3/4 times based on how many seconds they have been moving in the quick sand. This can deal up to 75/105/135/165/260 (+60/60/60/60/80% AP) magic damage to a target. If Sand Wave is used into Devouring Desert, the quick sand will harden and instead root all targets inside the quick sand for 35/40/45/50/55% of the remaining duration of Devouring Desert upon being struck by Sand Wave. Cost: 40 Sand Cool Down: 18/16/14/12/10 sec. Range: 450 AoE Radius: 300

Ability 3- Red Dunes Akusuna creates a dune to deal minor damage and knock enemies aside at the target location. The dune acts as impassable terrain for a moderate duration and can be interacted with with Akusuna's other spells. Active: Akusuna causes a dune to rise from the ground at the target location, causing all targets near it to be knocked to away from it and take 15/30/45/60/75 (+25% AP) magic damage. The dune will count as impassable terrain for 3.5 seconds before blowing away in the wind. Akusuna's other abilities can interact with Red Dunes. If Red Dunes is used on top of a non-hardened Devouring Desert, the dune will instead consume targets hit, rooting targets onto the dune for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds before causing them to slide off. If Sand Wave pushes targets into the Red Dunes, they will be stunned for 0.25 seconds before applying the slow from Sand Wave. The Red Dune will also be destroyed upon having a target being pushed into it, spreading sand into the air around the target that counts as a bush for Akusuna, causing only enemies inside the sand to be able to see Akusuna and only they can see him. Their vision of Akusuna is not shared to their allies while inside the sand. Akusuna's spells will not reveal him while he is inside the sand as well, but units inside the sand can still see him. The sand stays in the air for 2.25/2.5/2.75/3/3.25 seconds. Cost: 50 Sand Cool Down: 19/17/15/13/11 sec. Range: 500 AoE Radius: 200 Sand Bush AoE Radius: 325

Ultimate- Demonic Sandstorm Akusuna passively increases his maximum amount of Sand. When activated, Akusuna begins to slowly use his sand to create a sandstorm around him that blinds, deals weak damage, and prevents enemies from using mobility spells. Akusuna's other Sand costs are reduced during this time by a large amount. Passive: The demon inside of Akusuna gains power, increasing the max amount of Sand that Akusuna is able to have at one time by 25/50/75. Active: Akusuna begins to brew a sandstorm around himself, draining away at his sand and dealing 45/55/65 (+12% AP) magic damage per second around himself. Enemies inside the sandstorm are blinded and unable to use abilities that have dashes or teleporting involved. Sand drains in 0.5 second intervals. The cool down for this ability begins once all of Akusuna's sand is depleted or he reactivates the ability to cancel it. While this is active, Akusuna's other spells cost 40/50/60% less Sand. Cost: 30 Sand per Second Cool Down: 30/25/20 sec. Range: 300

If you guys like the kit and character, I can make Quotes and much more time consuming things for him. Thanks for reading as always and, as usual, feedback is always greatly appreciated.

I kinda like its passive, the idea of champion gaining power out of combat and then slowly giving it away through abilities in battle seems interesting. It would surely be challenging to play such champion well. On the other hand, his other abilities seem quite uninspired to me. While the Q is decent, his other abilities feel kinda boring to me (no offence :P).

Now his lore and artistic concept look like they are very heavily inspired by a certain, ehm red haired ninja ehm from a certain foxy franchise, if you get what I mean. There is nothing wrong with being inspired, but the similarity is so obvious I would have to live under a rock not to get it. Try to employ fantasy and you might get even a much more compelling story concept. ;)

Red haired ninja? Umm... I'm sorry, I dont know who you are referring to? If you could please tell me who exactly maybe I could understand better, but I didn't get inspired at all by this from any ninja thing? I was actually inspired from a recent trip my family had when we went to Egypt and I read into the mythology there. I learned about the Egyptian god known as Set and thought he would be a good basis to create a champion off of. However, we already have a lot of ascended champions so I thought "Maybe I could expand on Sivir's little group of treasure hunters she has." When Set fought Osiris, his brother, he was, mainly because of this fight, known as a Trickster deity who used bad ends to get what he wanted. With Akusuna, the demon is Set. The demon was jealous of Azir's power and respect, similar to Osiris and Set, so he fought to kill him. However, it is said Set used some questionable methods to win the fight. So I thought, "What is the most questionable thing a demon can do?" Possess a child of course. However, seeing as Azir isn't dead, it would mean Azir had won the fight, unlike Osiris. So this is where I had to get creative and make the story on my own. I thought and thought and eventually came to with the time defying tomb. However, I didn't want it to be just normal magic to power, since that would make it seem like something anyone would be willing to do. So I made Akusuna's mother, the one in depression of her newborn baby being possessed by a demon, be willing to end her life to seal away the demon and get her revenge on it for stealing her son. The story became easy to accomplish after this. Sivir would raid the magic tomb, unleash the child and the demon, and, of course, the demon would want to continue the war against Azir. However, with the child in the mix, he still had to stay hidden so history wouldn't repeat itself. Think like a demon. If you had possessed such an innocent being, why would you blow your perfect way of hiding? So, Akusuna became the host of a demon and, in order to portray that the demon was the real one in control (or is it?), he corrupted the boy into thinking Azir had killed his mother to seal them both away. He convinced Akusuna that Azir was afraid of both of them and was a coward, sacrificing his own people so that he wouldn't die. This enraged Akusuna. He then wanted nothing more than to "fry the bird". So now here we are up to present. Akusuna is about to fight Azir from the shadows. Again, I'm not sure what red haired ninja you are talking about, but I can confirm that this was all inspired off of a.) Set's battle against Osiris from Egyptian mythology and b.) my own thinking of what a demon would do when unleashed from a tomb inside a child. Of course I would make him use Sand as a weapon however since that is what Set is also a god of. The desert and such.

As far as your critique on the moves, thanks! I will always try to spice up the kit more. I feel like his third ability, could probably be something more. However, I probably wont change his W and R too much since I find them core pieces of his identity. The quick sand mechanic and extremely defensive ultimate are what, to me, make him stand out from other Mages. His third ability I can see being a bit boring, so I WILL ADD SOME SPICE!

EDIT: After some thought, I changed his third ability and his kit to be even more combo focused and to further show how powerful he is when he has Sand while also showing how limited he is when he doesn't have any. I also nerfed a few of his base stats in compensation, increased Sand costs, and buffed his non-shielded basic attacks so he can at least last hit without his shield. I hope you like the new spell and new interactions put into his kit. With that being said, I have a history of making over complicated kits that are extremely, maybe even too hard, to balance. So, with this one, I wanted to try some more basic spells with a unique resource and way of playing instead of complicated, potentially game breaking play style. I hope you understand why I was a little simplistic with his abilities at first. While they are currently no where near what I usually do, this is the line Im drawing for how complex and complicated they can get. I also recently did the research for this red haired ninja? Gaara right? No, I did not draw inspiration from him although it is very coincidental how alike they are. I'm sorry if it appeared that I had ripped off another character, but I didn't.

Well then it just a very interesting coincidence, because the resemblance between your concept and the character is kinda striking. XD It just happens so that japanophiles, or weeaboos, tend to export their hobby into other media without subtlety, so I'm happy this is not the case.

Now while spicing up the kit, make sure you're not overdoing it, since that might result in the champion being broken (just look at CertainlyT's designs like Yasuo or Thresh, those guys are honestly bloated). Your new E idea is interesting, but as I said, sometimes you might want to add less to gain more. ;)

Finally, in case you've been wondering, this is the character I've been refering to. IMHO it is a well fleshed out character, so I wouldn't wonder why wou would be inspired by it.

EDIT: Also, while I don't want to advertise my designs, I would like to encourage you to see my concepts. I am trying to create interesting champs while keeping them as simple as possible. I'm not saying those are good designs, I just hope they can inspire you to craft a more interesting kit for your sand mage. ;)

Yeah, right now Im looking at the kit to study it and see if there is anything I could remove or move around. I packed his kit right now so it might be easy to study and see if anything is COMPLETELY not needed for him/would make him broken. Thanks again by the way. As for "weeaboos", I do watch anime and enjoy it, mainly because Im a fan of Soundtrack (mainly Orchestra and Orchestra/Rock hybrid) music and most anime doesn't use the common USA music tone for shows. I also like the freedom anime gives each character since no one has the limit of a typical human usually. However, I too don't like it when someone gets completely obsessed with anime to the point to where they start trying to Japanese themselves. Most of the time they end up sounding stupid or flat out fake. Nah, I just watch it in my free time and enjoy the music, story, and character freedom. Just a hobby.

EDIT: Ok, I think the kit is in a pretty decent state now. I removed some needless add-ons (mainly bonus damage where it probably wasn't needed). When I looked at his kit, I noticed that for the most part it looks like a lot on paper, but it actually isn't exactly stuffed. Most of the interactions involve sacrificing an aspect of another move to create a new interaction. So, in a way, he loses some power to gain a new type of power. Of course, most of this can probably be played around if he is used to absolute expertise, but thats with just about any champion.
