Reasoning behind Candy Cane Miss Fortune changes?

Simply put, why did the skins team or ChampUp go with the change from the almost iconic candy cane guns to the genetic looking red ones she now has? This isn't an improvement, by any stretch of the imagination and removed a very unique look.

In short, this change makes her less awesome than before.

So, why was this done?
