#PISTO ##THE BARON OF THE BLACK MARKET

The outlaws and smugglers in Bilgewater tell of Gangplank’s rule over Bilgewater. The ones who know what truly happens in the underground tell a different story, the story of a yordle who climbed Bilgewater’s black market on the corpses of the barons leading their own markets. Now -- with the black market so big it influences almost every trading business on Valoran -- Pisto knows that Bilgewater is a leader short, and is on his way to achieve his goal of taking control of Bilgewater and lead it to a new age of trade and prosperity.

##R: Smuggler’s Path Cost: 100 Mana Cooldown: 180 / 160 / 140 seconds Range: 2500 / 4500 / 6500

Active: Pisto starts channeling for up to 8 seconds, allowing an ally within 2500 / 4500 / 6500 units teleport to Pisto's location by interacting with him. Teleporting takes a 1.5 second channel. If Pisto takes damage, the channel is broken.

#Playing as Pisto

Pisto is a Catcher, a support who brings a lot of playmaking potential to his team without being the primary damage threat himself. Being a literal walking shop that his allies can visit, he makes the early game menacing by allowing his carries buy items without recalling to their base to heal. If that didn’t sound crazy enough, he also grants his allies global buffs by investing Golden Krakens in the shop, giving his team global utility.

In lane, Pisto can start early fights by disrupting the enemy ADC with his Q and casting W on either himself or his carry to pull them and deny their escape. But games in the bottom lane start to get real serious when Pisto hits level 6, allowing him to basically give his jungler a path straight into bottom lane and allowing them to crush their foes if they don’t notice.

Seems fun, Ornn levels of being basically un-balance-able, but I'll try anyways.

P: Not so abusable as to be broken, but the fact that he gets the extra gold seems wasted on a champ that needs low gold to be effective and can't carry particularly well.

Q: Cool, bit of a boring hitbox though, could be more interesting as we have a lot of line hitboxes and a T is just two lines. Also, knockup is one of the strongest forms of cc, being a stun and uncleansable, making the enemy slowed after it seems excessive, maybe a slow or a half duration knockup.

W: Another Knockup at least that's how the game treats it, very powerful, but requires good teammate positioning balancing the power out.

E: Generic Shield, the Gold scaling is so impossible to balance it would have to be a non factor.

R: So why Don't I just take Kled, at least I can catch someone then.

I really like this. Maybe make him look a little meaner, gold chains, massive belt buckle, knife in belt, etc.

Really like this concept, and I do pray that Riot will take some form of direction like this if they design a 'walking shop' kind of character. Firstly, I adore his personality. This small fuzzball of yordle-ness is actually a fearsome black market mob boss from Bilgewater, and he sees his allies more as 'hired guns' that are suppose to do what he says, which is definetly interesting! I love how, as a support (one of the most 'submissive' roles), he's more of the 'boss' of the team rather than doing whatever the ADC says. Note: I would change the title to "The Black Market Boss" or something. 'Baron' is a huge title in Zaun considering Chem-Barons, so it can be a little misleading for him to be a Bilgewater champion. Just me though, still love the concept!

A small change to his E and W though. For E: maybe make it so that he can only cast it on allies to blink, rather than just being able to blink at any location. Along with that, to balance it out a bit, maybe make it so that people in an area around that ally also get the defensive bonuses?

For W: I like this ability, maybe make it so that the ally only gains the movement speed when running towards enemies, rather than just in general, as it can be a great initiator. Just a small idea, maybe when he casts this he sort of does a "GET THEM!" motion with his hands, ordering his ADC to go in essentially, just adds more to the thematic!

I like the concept of using gold as a type of resource in the game. I think what you have created here is one potential use case for gold as a resource (although indirectly through Golden Krakens). Personally, I would have like to see more interaction with gold in his kit, like you did with Pisto's Q.

The available global passives seem really powerful, and are arguably a really good reason to use Pisto's Black Market mechanic.

  • Global life steal and spell vamp? Heck yeah, stay alive in team fights, 1v1 easier, take objectives easier, whats not to like?

  • Additional move speed around wards? Riot, hire this guy. Actually encourage teammates to ward as well as better positioning and macro incoming.

  • 25% HP shield? Alright, that might be a little much with the current meta of shields on shields that heal was well as shield (but that will change in the coming patches).

However, if a team is already ahead, would they feel compelled to use Pisto to get him Krakens? What about a team that is already behind? Especially in bot lane where you are trying to hit certain power spikes ASAP, spending extra gold for the same item your lane opponent has only puts you further behind. So how can you keep this concept, but not make it feel like you are punishing your team by using it?

35 Krakens is 3500 gold, which is an end game item. Will giving up a item 3089, item 3071, item 3143 be worth it for those passives? Even more so if you are looking to snag multiple global passives.

Those are some of the thoughts I struggle with when visualizing this champion in game.

What if Pisto had a mechanic similar to Kindred, where certain minions/monsters/champions within range get marked, and killing that marked target gave Pisto a Kraken/gold? Would that work better mechanically in game? Or does that stray too far from the champion thematically?

Overall, really well thought out and good character development!

Alright, I've made a few changes to Pisto's kit based on feedback:

  • His E is now a blink that grants one nearby ally some armor and magic resistance.

  • His ult is a channel that allows allies to teleport to Pisto's location.

Not to hate (although I am currently tilted so don't take anything I say too seriously), but I see a lot of contradictions here.

  1. The point of a black market is illegally purchasing expensive/illegal things at a lower than usual price. Which is the opposite of his black market.

  2. Just like Gangplank he gets a lot of advantages from gathering a lot of gold (perhaps even more than GP) but he is supposed to be a support, the role that gets the least amount of gold.

  3. His w is only good on melee champions, using it in lane, on an ADC would feel stupid since ADCs don't want enemies to be close.

  4. If his w is usable on himself then it has the same issue as point 3 anyway. If it is not, then you are forcing him into going support (also, this concept already exists on Morse's w and riot had to change it to be usable on minions).

  5. His e is Lee sin's w, but without requiring a target.

  6. His ult is a weird version of Thresh's lantern.

  7. Some of his quotes are LITERALLY ripped off from other champions, mostly gp ("One slash, ear to ear.")

The passive is really weak. Wasting gold like that is never good. Considering that Ornn's passive isn't that strong at all, I don't think your champ's passive will do anything. It would be better if he only sold wards, healing pots and other consumables for an extra price.
