[Updated] A Loki-esque Trickster Support.
I really like the idea of deception being your main tool, in a way that isn't currently present, but could be. Skip over these few paragraphs if you just want to see the kit, but it just points out the problem with the current 2 Trickster rejects that Riot has handed us.
We have LeBlanc the Deceiver, but her kit has no real emphasis on deception, especially not any more. Her R-R combo is deceptive, but it really isn't a core theme. There isn't really any added level to her play. "Hit a skill, wait 1.5 seconds, hit another skill, jump back to pad". Such deception. Many Tricks.
We have Shaco, the demon assassin with a jester fetish, but again its not hugely deceptive. To play him you need to trick and bait your opponent, but his power still comes back to bursting out of stealth: which is why he is rarely put in a strong state and is up for a VGU. While he is a squishy front loaded mage, he will never rely on deception, because he has power elsewhere. (Offensive items and Shiv)
A side note with Shaco, I saw a video recently of a Shaco player who perfectly used the lack of vision and his ultimate to create a situation where even experienced Shaco players couldn't tell which was the clone and which was the original. He was rewarded for it with the kill, and it was just spectacular to watch. https://plays.tv/video/5a038d0ab516201913/shacod
The problem is, it is just so rare these days to see any of it because a lot of power was taken from ult/box that now he is just a "kill out of stealth" Rengar wanabe wearing bright orange, or it is "Oh you walked into my box, let me just bash your face in". No tricks. No fun. No laughs.
The problem with those two, is the burst. A Loki-like Legend wouldn't want to kill the target instantly, they would want to have fun. Draw it out. Bait and switch. Frustrate the enemy. It's also why those two are so hard to balance. Burst + Deception is broken, because it doesn't give the target any time to adapt or react.
I was spitballing a champ reliant on shapeshifting or mimicry. Obviously numbers are rough, barely thought out at all, but gives a rough idea. Originally thought of as a mage, I realized this kit would work better for a control/support mage in botlane or jungle. A supportive kit being fun to play may also encourage more people to play the support role.
Passive Frustration: When a clone dies (not expires) the cooldown is reduced, and enemies taking damage are slowed or take increased damage for a short duration.
Q) Create a clone that copies the tricksters current appearance, but only deals 20% of his damage. Expires after 5 seconds. Upon death or expiry 30/35/40/45/50% of damage taken by the clone is returned to dealer.
Reactivated Q allows clone control. Rewards the player for being able to trick the victim rather than beating it with brute force like current Shaco R. Unlike current Shaco R players who do not attack the clone will not take damage, rewarding clever play. Control wards disable/make obvious which is the clone.
W is a mirror image effect. Think of the Spy from TF2. Enter stealth for a 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 seconds and copy target champions appearance/health/mana when revealed. Lasts 5-10 seconds or until 3 direct attacks have been made against you.
Causes confusion in team fights because there can be two allied Vaynes, and if the enemy trickster plays well, you won't know which you are peeling/killing. Can be combo'd with Q to make a clone of your new appearance. Rewards enemies for seeing through the disguise and breaking it, rewards the player for successfully tricking the opponent into attacking the clone. _
EDIT - At the time of making the original E, I thought of it as a damage mage. With the new support theme in mind, perhaps low kit damage is a good thing, leaving the E ability open for another trick or debuff/buff.
E - Phase wall. Summons an attackable wall that grants allies short stealth when passing through. Gains health/ stealth duration with rank. Alternatively, as an ally passes through it, a clone of the ally could be conjured instead of stealthed, if this was the case, then reactivating E while gate is on CD allows the trickster to control the clone.
_Can be timed with Q and brush to add deception. Rewards enemy wards. gate is disabled by control wards. Health is similar to Yorick wall. Passable by enemies, they just don't get the stealth. I think giving non-stealth champs stealth is dangerous so the duration would have to be very short. _
R is mass confusion. Targeted like a Ziggs ult (ground AoE). After 2 sec channel, all enemy units within the zone are stunned for 0.5 sec and switched with another affected units location and face a random direction.
Functions similar to an Orianna ult but faster and larger. Instead of being sucked to the center, randomly traded place with another unit. Could even be like a fiddles ult, in that the trickster jumps to the location and switches around the location of nearby enemies after a short stun. Leaves him vulnerable if done poorly, but powerful if used correctly. Perhaps random isn't a great idea though, since RNG is often frowned upon.
More of a control/supportive mage than an enchanter, focusing on CDR to have maximum clone uptime and be more elusive. The primary source of damage would be the clone, (Q) useable on allies and enemies. Minor CC on ultimate, minor debuff on passive. Potential to save allies with E or Q, provided the trickster is able to control the clone in a way that would bait enemy players into chasing it rather than chasing their original target.
Example situation use.
Through proper warding, you notice enemy J4 is coming to invade your Hecarim. You ping your Hecarim back, and take on his appearance taking his place. J4 takes this lonesome "Hecarim" on, only to find he has been stooged and the actual Hecarim is able to get into a better position. You could then turn on the J4 as two and fight.
Obviously a work in progress but I feel like the two current "deception" themed are really just burst champs with some "haha you fell for my tricks" moments, you know, like when someone flashes away from your LeBlanc R-R combo every 300 games.
