Zelos, The Ionian Traitor
So this was a character fans have been talking about for a while, mentioned in Irelia's lore and never brought up again, other than her accompanying Judgement. So, having heard nothing else about this guy, I figured I would make my own pass at a cohesive kit and backstory. Here goes.
AD-scaling Tank/bruiser intended to function as a top laner or support. Excels at singling out priority targets in teamfights, and casting aside any who stand in his way. Relatively high cooldowns, Mana costs and low base mana pool limit opportunities for aggression in lane, forcing players to choose their engagements wisely. Favors matchups where he can burst his target down. Highly susceptible to burst damage if built for damage, and has difficulty dealing damage to tougher foes if built as a tank. Struggles with opponents who are able to burn down his mana and outsustain him. Quick counters off the top of my head would be Olaf, Darius, etc. Not sure how he would fare against Irelia herself, exactly.
NOTE--you will no doubt notice that for the most part, there are no hard numbers listed here, in terms of base stats, damages, and scalings. This is due to my own inexperience and lack of knowledge on how base stats should be balanced to accomplish the character I intend, and I was hoping the community could assist with their own input.
PASSIVE--MOCKING ARROGANCE--while rooted, stunned, or knocked up, gains dramatically increased resistances and extreme health regen. Fear and Silence reduce his damage for a short duration.
Q--AGGRESSIVE STRIKE--Swings both swords in tandem, landing a mighty blow and knocking back a target enemy. The knocked back target will stop if they hit one of their teammates, but apply reduced damage to them and a slow to both.
W--WRATHFUL ONSLAUGHT--Unleashes a rapid flurry of 6 attacks, dealing 30%/40%/50%/60%/70% total AD per hit and applying on-hit effects such as lifesteal on each hit.
E--PIERCING CRUELTY--Dashes forward, stabbing in a straight line with both swords. Dash ends on champion hit or at max distance. If a champion is hit by the initial thrust, they take damage and are stunned for 1 second. Upon completion of the dash, Zelos swings wide in either direction, dealing reduced damage to targets struck and knocking them aside. These swings cannot strike the same target that the thrust connects with.
R--DEVILISH DERVISH--Becomes a deadly whirl of rapidly slicing blades for 5 seconds, dealing damage in an aoe around Zelos and increasing his movement speed for the duration, as well as gradually reducing enemy armor by small, flat amounts with each tick of damage and applying a 15% slow. This is not a channeled ability, and can be interrupted by any crowd control. Has a 0.75 second wind-up.
LORE--At the behest of Noxian Agents, caused Irelia to unintentionally kill her own father during a sparring match, (inspired by a selection from Irelia's Judgement), removing a key element of Ionia's defense from the equation. During the subsequent Noxian Invasion, Zelos is entrusted by the Ionian Elders with the task of seeking aid from Demacia, but he never returns and help from Demacia, which could have easily turned the war in Ionia's favor, never arrives. Unbeknownst to the Ionian Elder Council, Zelos had never set course for Demacia at all, but instead defected to Noxus for promises of wealth, power, and glory, additionally selling out his own entourage to the Noxian Scouts waiting for him. Long believed to be dead, he enters the League to flaunt his vanity and success before his former countrymen and display his strength for all to envy.
Now, you may ask yourselves, why an AD-Scaling tank? Well, mostly because that role is virtually non-existent in the current roster. Tanks deal magic damage, traditionally. Does that make this guy a Bruiser? Maybe. Although I was going for a kit with the cc, utility, and survivability of a tank, when properly itemized for the role. I also wanted this guy to be able to perform well in a solo lane and be able to build damage and be a threat, alternatively. As well as being able to itemize for a mix of both. Really I was going for versatility in terms of build paths and playstyles here.
