Petition to Change the Role Name of Support

So, I was thinking about something that was mentioned back a while ago. I think Riot was looking into changing the name of support to something else? Well, I have and idea that same idea as a support, but gives it a broader and heavier stance (imo). What if we called them the Catalyst Role. Catalysts set things up for events to take place. When a stuns someone or hooks someone, they are setting up an event for their team (mainly adc) to follow up with. Thus, they set something up for an event to take place.

What do you think? I just feel that Catalyst gives support players a better name. I do play support from time to time, so this affects me too! :)

Meh, I do play a lot of support, but... I'm not too big a fan of "Catalyst." While I DO agree that yes, supports' main goal is to SET UP kills for the ADC, but Catalyst seems a little too wordy. If you were explaining League to a friend who likes similar games, and you said, "I'm a catalyst main," they'd have no idea what you're talking about. Think about it... Tank, Support, Mage, Bruiser, Assassin, Marksman. Each of those names is simple, and they all roll off the tongue. Heck, only assassins have 3 syllables. "Catalyst" just seems... heavy, a little awkward to say. I get where you're going with the idea, and I do like it (I still upvoted <3) but I do think there would be better options for renaming supports.

Sounds good, but champs like Soraka dont have a catalyst feel to them

If I was ever going to rename the support role into anything I'd just calm them "Thralls" becuase that's literally what they are to the ADC. They can decide the ADCs fate, and the ADC can decide thiers.

But support works enough.

I mean if people really want it named something else sure i dont really care either way 80% of people are gonna still hate it and im still probably gonna get it 100% of the time. Auto fill turns bot lane into a cluster fuck of hoping your adc or supp isnt auto filled and its impossible to secondary support cause if you choose support at all your a supp main now.

Riot already got rid of the 'Support' monkier.

They've been divided into the Warden, Disruptor, and Enchanter subclasses.

Instead of doing that, just stop bundling supports with bot lane already. Bot lane tends to attract some of the more entitled portion of the community for 1 reason or the other (mid is a bit like that too but bot takes the cake), and that's where the BM towards support came from, and why we're looking for a name change in the first place (where some interpret support as "doing less work" and feeling entitled to abuse them). Take support away from bot, or at least stop forcing them to be there, will solve the issue automatically.
