Petition to have the First Win of the Day Bonus Reset at Midnight

The Dreamwalker·4/14/2017, 2:58:16 PM·240 votes·4,559 views

Title. Basically, we shouldn't have to wait 24 hours to get the bonus. It should just reset at midnight, thus making it another day. Makes sense imo. Anyone agree?

You don't wait 24 hours, just 22. I am not sure whther it would be that helpful, but as long as people want it, it certainly won't hurt me so I'll support you.

pretty sure it's always been 22hrs between First Wins. 12/24hr time restrictions are so fken terribad, i cri.

I agree. Would be more helpful for people that can't play games at a specific time everyday(aka the ones that need the bonus ip the most). While not having any impact on the rest of people.

The problem is that your assuming everyone who plays this game has the same exact sleep/awake schedule. A 22 hour wait for FWD regardless of the actual time is far more accommodating to it's players as a whole.

Faustavian4/14/2017, 9:56:39 PM7 votes

I like it at 22 hours to be honest, it allows me to do it at the same time every day, earlier if i really want to. Not to mention, it gets rid of the whole if you dont do it exactly on time, you need to wait about 25 hours instead.

EDIT: forgot to mention Timezones

OurLestrade4/14/2017, 3:04:18 PM4 votes

How about time zones?

SadKill4/14/2017, 3:26:51 PM3 votes

If I'm not mistaken the win of the day resets every 23 hours, not 24 and depends on when you got the win of the day. It's a fairly nice system that let's you get win of the day more on your schedule for the most part. In the current system it also prevents people from missing a day. Say I play a game and I go 1 minute over midnight, I would lose that day. Not much of a problem scenario if it resets at midnight, but is it global reset? does it reset at noon over in korea or such (I don't know cross world time zones).

Either way, if it resets at midnight you're going to be waiting 23/24 hours. I personally like having it reset based on when I got my last win of the day, which is generally when I get home from work around 5 in the evening. If I play my first game and win around 6 it'll be available at 5 the next day, and that's nice.

In my mind both systems work, both systems have some pros and cons, it's just preference.

There are abuse cases why a set time isn't a thing, where you just log in before the reset, play 2-3 games, reset happens, 2-3 games, have 2 first wins of the day in a few hours.

That is the gist of why a recharge is used and not a fixed reset, although I do think the recharge could be more generous, like 18 hours, not 22.

Aeszarck4/14/2017, 11:04:10 PM2 votes

I like the way League of Legends does it currently because you can never really miss a day, you can just lose out on time. While that time lost will eventually add up to a lost day, you can also make up for that lost time because the FWOTD resets every twenty-two hours instead of every twenty-four hours. If this suggestion were to be implemented, then if you start a match at 11:41 and don't manage to finish it before the end of the day, you just lost out on that reward, and you can't compensate for that like you can with the current system.

Another thing that I think Riot wants to avoid doing is encouraging players to play at a specific time. With the flexible FWOTD system, anyone can play whenever, but with a fixed FWOTD system, there might be a very high amount of players at a specific time (probably when the cycle resets) and less players at other times during the day. Thus, there would likely be a pretty large change in queue times for different times of the day.

EDIT: If you disagree, then comment. Downvotes are used to hide posts that do not promote meaningful discussion.

Problem is, midnight is different for different people. How would the game determine what midnight is for you?

If it's by your computer clock, you could just change it.

DemoGuide4/15/2017, 11:35:01 AM1 votes

I would rather have 22 hour system, thanks.

Azirsec Poggers4/15/2017, 3:18:47 PM1 votes

yes totally i hate it my mom doesn't let me lay in the morning so i have to play at night and some times i'm away so i miss the bonus

RygorDota4/15/2017, 3:48:40 PM1 votes

First win of the day does help out a lot with building up IP so it could help newer players get champions faster if the first win of the day happens more often. I think it is a great idea :)

Go see a psychiatrist.

I made a couple of threads suggesting this a few years ago. One reached 515 upvotes https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/FnWXEvjW-petition-make-first-win-of-the-day-daily . Still, Riot didn't care but maybe they now will (we have baker pantheon after all).

Sheeporoth4/15/2017, 8:36:02 PM1 votes

First win of the day IP counts for about 2 games; helping tremendously with buying stuff. Already, it takes legit weeks/months to get a champion. Change is very much needed

Fine by me.

TheEdgeOfDestiny4/14/2017, 10:44:23 PM1 votes

It's ok. It's 22 hours actually so that time won't shift forward.

I think there is a reason why they didn't make reset @ midnight. Probably it has smth to do with people playing at different time. I cannot wrap my head around this fully though.

junkgummybum4/15/2017, 12:18:04 AM1 votes

Whenever I want to roll back my daily ip cdr, I just queue vs bots exactly 21:45.00 post daily win. So I disagree because that'll deny me bonus free daily ip for every 12 daily ip

Deathgon4/15/2017, 1:22:46 AM1 votes

f this all

Thrakaz0g4/15/2017, 2:03:51 AM1 votes

This would actually help me a lot. On the weekends I tend to play late at night (10 to midnight let's say) and during the week I play much earlier and get to sleep earlier as well.

IT SHOULD RESET EVERY 24H AT THE SPECIFIC TIME. 22 HOURS RESET TIMER SUCKS, HERE'S WHY:

The sole problem is, that with 22h reset timer it is very inconsistent to get the bonus. If you have moving time table you can't break, you are losing bonus wins - or have to break up your timetable.

Example: _You have time to play League on Monday betwen 18:00 - 20:00. You get your bonus around 19:00 so on Tuesday your bonus resets at 17:00. But what if you can play only between 14:00 - 18:00? Yes, you are screwed, mate. _

With fixed reset at certain hour, you can get your bonus at any day, at any time convenient to you - the player. And since 1st win of the day is something for players.... why not fixing it?

GigaPube4/15/2017, 11:27:48 AM1 votes

no this doesn't make sense and no i actually dont agree. like i dont even work for riot and i just want more IP no matter what, but this is just a horrible idea

1st of all you dont even wait 24 hours, you only have to wait 22 hours. which is actually a huge difference. i wouldnt even ask you or anyone to have done research for this, but the fact you already dont even know makes it all the more embarrassing. like what were you thinking dude.... some people on this planet actually do play after 8:30pm, when your parents force you to sleep so you can wake up for school tomorrow. so not only does everyone get more IP from riots 22 hour system already, but the people who would play around midnight wouldnt get screwed over an entire days worth of IP because of this close-minded suggestion when they get into a game a few minutes too late
