(This post is a WIP. More art will be here soon. . .probably sometime in the next few hours)

Felix is a bacteriophage-like humanoid with a crystal head, digitigrade legs, and wide forearms - each with two, long, whip-like fingers with a venomous spine between them. He's basically a two-legged bacteriophage with arms.

Stats:

  • Attack Range: 525 (ranged) (Auto attacks appear in the form of helical barbs that he shoots from his long fingers)
  • Health: 532 (+76 per level)
  • Attack Damage: 45.5 (+2.6 per level)
  • Attack Speed: 0.650 (+3% per level)
  • Movement Speed: 325
  • Health Regen: 6 (+0.6 per level)
  • Armor: 18.0 (+3.0 per level)
  • Magic Resist: 30 (+0 per level)

Lore:

"Flesh is a sickness, for which I am the cure." -Felix

There is a world at the ends of our fingertips - one of endless intrigue and possibility. It is a place where the smallest of creatures are capable of toppling the very giants they inhabit. Though the realm of the microscopic is revered by those who observe its wonder through the lens of progress, there are also those who observe its destructive nature, and seek to exploit its savagery.

A project was set in motion to understand the nature of disease itself, but with the intent to weaponize it for the sake of political leverage. They needn't look further than an unbelievably potent virus discovered within the crystalline contents of a small meteorite. Little was known about this “Felix” strain, but through rigorous testing, Zaun scientists found the virus within it could act with a form of collective sentience – a hive mind. They found the virus could be bargained with, even controlled to a limited extent. They had no concern for where it came from, just that it’s destructive potential was immense. Little did the researchers know; the Felix virus was evolving.

The bioweapon was never used in the field, however. Before it could be contained for use in a live environment, the meteorite went missing. The Liberal Council blamed the researchers for their incompetence, and used a previously unknown half of the meteorite to eliminate all evidence of the project. After the laboratory was sealed, this half of the strain would continue to fester and multiply within the abandoned facility for quite some time. The laboratory was later immolated, and promptly sealed with hextech forcefields to prevent the disease from ever returning

However, the question remained: what ever happened to the other half?

It was commandeered and contained by the League of Legends, before its widespread destruction would be known to the world. It’s power was far too great to be reckoned with – especially being so small, and existing in such large numbers. The League continued to suspend the meteorite within a techmaturgy capsule. To formally initiate reparation for he Zaun testing on Felix, the League agreed to let a single Felix unit participate in the League, and hexed it with an enlarging spell to make it macroscopic –growing to near-human size. Yes, this is seen as a form of servitude, but Felix is more than happy to comply if it means he can still inflict misery within closed confines. Sure, he dreams of a day of freedom, but also strives to become stronger through the crucible battle – so he will never be contained again.

Abilities:

*Each of these abilities will soon have visual aid. I will finish the images shortly.

Passive - Inertia of the Purge Diseases are known to be latent, yet horrifyingly punctual at times - patiently waiting for a moment to strike. In much the same fashion, Felix can utilize a massive burst of damage to enemies when the moment is most opportune. Every so often, when Felix uses three abilities within a three second timeframe, the third ability is amplified based on its specific strength. The individual amplifications will be explained in due time - using the following notation:

Standard = the usual ability Amp = the amplified ability (when passive is available)

Passive Cooldown: 40 seconds (the length of which decreases by 0.5 second(s) for every minute of gameplay passed - until it reaches a minimum of 18 seconds. CDR does not affect this in any way).

Q - The Touch of Death Felix stabs an enemy with a long, needle-like finger (skill shot) - dealing a small amount of physical damage, and injecting a target with a virus. This ability strikes the first target it comes in contact with, and goes no further. Any enemy or neutral monster stricken with this skillshot is inflicted with a small, circular AoE around them from which other enemies (including minions, neutral monsters, etc.) can be poisoned as well if they step within certain proximity of the infected target.

Standard: a target within the ability's path receive mild physical damage, become poisoned, and potentially poisons others.

Amp: the initial ability acts as usual, and also deals a chunk of true damage to the target - scaling from max mana (18 true damage per 100 mana. +0% AD/AP).

  • Range: 525
  • Poison duration: 3 seconds
  • Poison AoE duration: 3 seconds
  • Damage: 70/115/160/220/260 (+60% AP) over 3 seconds
  • AoE diameter: 300
  • Mana cost: 55
  • Cooldown: 7/6.5/6/5.5/5

W - Caustic Hazard Felix makes a sulfuric pool on the ground, teeming with bacteria, that immediately forms a bubble. If an enemy steps over this bubble, it ruptures - causing a temporary slow to enemies within its AoE, and dealing a mild burst of magic damage.

Standard: produces one bubble at the specified location a slowing and damaging enemies.

Amp: creates three slightly smaller bubbles around the standard bubble in a triangular formation - covering a larger area than the normal ability. (size of 300 wide each)

  • Ability duration: 10 seconds if not stepped on
  • Slow duration: 1.2 second(s)
  • Slow: 40%
  • Diameter: 500
  • Damage: 35/60/85/100/115 (+20% AP)
  • Mana cost: 70/70/75/75/80
  • Cooldown: 16/14.5/13/11.5/10

E - Necro-Salvo Felix raises a hand towards the sky, creating a series of purple, boomerang -like spines in his outstretched hand that fly around the edge of a circular trrajectory and meeting at the opposite side - flanking his targets from the sides. These spines deal magic damage that scale from AP. These projectiles ignore 15% of the enemy's magic resist if Felix currently poisoned that target.

Standard: 3 projectiles

Amp: 7 projectiles (cast time extended by 0.25 second(s))

  • Range: 550 circular path in front of Felix

  • Damage for each projectile: 30/40/60/90/120 (+30% ability power)

  • Mana Cost: 70/70/75/80/80

  • Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9

R - Visceral Solution Felix infects a targeted champion with a contagion (status debuff) that stays on the targeted champion for a maximum of 6 seconds (draining 20/35/50 mana from Felix per second it is active).

While this ability does not deal damage, if Felix is killed while the contagion is still active on his enemy, Felix's body dies as normal, but a new one grows from the contagion in his enemy. Once his old body dies, His enemy is briefly slowed by 80%, and Felix has a short moment to select a region around the enemy champion to leap to from out of the enemy champion's body (a leap range of 400). While he leaps, Felix's becomes a skillshot that arcs to his destination, and then returns to normal upon landing (this skill shot deals no damage). Leaping out deals a chunk of physical damage to the infected target. This skill shot can pass through map terrain, but not champion-made structures. If no target destination is selected, Felix automatically leaps right next to the target (no further than 100 units) Once Felix lands, he is then targetable again, and has 60% max health and mana.

*This does not count as a death.

*keep in mind this initial debuff can be completely cured with Quicksilver Sash/Mercurial Scimitar's active "Cleanse," since this ability (much like general poison or other status effects) are technically debuffs. If this is used AFTER Felix has already spawned in his enemy host, the slow is cancelled, and he leaps right next to the target - as if Felix failed to select a landing zone

Standard: applies the contagion to one champion

Amp: The application is exactly the same, but the contagion deals 4% of that champion's maximum health as magic damage per second it is active (equaling a maximum output of 24% after 6 seconds) (+0% AP)

  • Cast range: 550

  • Duration: 6 seconds

  • Mana cost: 60/70/80 (+20/35/50 per second it remains active)

  • Cooldown: 120/110/100

  • Slow duration: 1.5 second(s)

  • Leap damage: 80/100/120/150/210 (+10% AD)

*If Felix's infected target is killed while the contagion is active on them, the cooldown of "Visceral Solution" is reduced to 20 second(s)

Some possible combos:

1 = Q 2 = W 3 = E 4 = R

  • = Passive Amplifier Applied (in best case scenario)

1,3 2,1,*3 (my fav) 1,4,*5 1,4,*3, 2,4,*1, 2,4,*3, 2,1,*4,3, 1,4,*2,3, 2,1,*3,4,

Felix deals MOST of his damage in short, concentrated bursts – meaning he primarily benefits from slowly whittling his enemy’s health down with preemptive DoT pokes, and then striking with full combos when the time is right. His combo potential is reasonably high, and enemies have plenty of opportunities to punish him in return.

Things Felix might say:

Upon selection:

  • Flesh is a sickness, for which I am the cure.

Joke:

  • Symptoms may include nausea, fatigue, and damage over time.

  • Tell your doctor if you're showing signs of dying horribly - for this is a common, but serious side effect.

  • I'm the weapon they only fired once. Another weapon I know got rehired and fired again. Poor guy.

  • I'M NOT TOXIC! I'm infectious.

Taunt:

  • You seem very "ILL" mannered. Let me give you a reason to be. Te-he.

  • Are you "SICK" of me yet?

While moving:

  • Always in motion.

  • Death never rests. It waits.

  • I will cleanse this place.

  • This place lacks my touch. Let us change that.

  • It is not as fun now that they can see me coming.

  • Bring me to a crowd. That sounds like fun.

  • I will never strop spreading. Never.

While attacking:

  • Phew. For a moment, I thought they could withstand me. I should know better.
  • There is no cure for death. Well, none that will work.
  • It is only a matter of time now.
  • Mmmmm THERE’S the smell. Nothing beats the smell.
  • Give it a moment. It will work its course.

Possible Skins:

  • Alien Overlord Felix

(Some behind-the-scenes stuff)

I've had Felix in my concept workshop on and off for almost 2 and a half years now. On top of a series of skin concepts that I'm going to be posting, I have 8 more concept champions in my little creative pipeline with full kits already made. I'll be putting them up soon, but in the meantime, you can also check out my other champions below:

Yok'Mal - The Mechanized Scourge

Esroph - The Proclaimer

Wonder if riot will find the name too simple with the name of the champs that have been coming out recently lol

Stand back, I'm a certified hater!

It's pretty good to see that after flip-flopping a lot, you decided to throw your hat in the ring.

The passive is so tortuously long, it may as well not exist. Do yourself a favor and bring it down to 20 seconds, or 30 seconds with a reduction of 1 second for every champion you hit with an ability. Waiting over 2 minutes for your passive to come online is way too damn long, especially since it's just an ability booster and not, say, a huge mana shield or a 30% heal over 12 seconds.

The basics, individually, are fine and pretty neat, but as a whole, Felix ends up without any real utility, which is dangerous for a mage. This puts him into direct competition with Cassiopeia, who can bring the pain much faster than Felix can in a shorter period of time, while also throwing out a wide-range stun. Generally, when two characters do similar things, whoever does it better gets picked far more often. It's why Riot's working on differentiating characters and why they've had this trend of weird non-damage ults with powerful game-changing effects.

Your ult is not nearly enough to save Felix in this regard. It's effectively a variant on Chronoshift, except by putting it on an enemy, you're screwing yourself if your team kills that enemy. Since all it does is revive you unless amped, it doesn't give Felix a really unique niche among other mages. He'd just be that one guy that can respawn himself if you don't blow up this enemy.

I'd recommend doubling down on the viral theme. It's best demonstrated in the Q, where it creates a field that can infect other enemies. Make Felix all about turning one vector into an epidemic that harries the entire enemy team. Try turning allies into vectors instead of just enemies. Swap out either the W or the E for something that'd make this work - the W seems pretty impractical due to its huge size for a trap, as everyone can avoid it, while the E doesn't make much sense thematically speaking. Also, I'd recommend replacing the ult entirely for something that interacts exclusively with infected targets. Discount Chronoshift is not incredibly helpful in carving out your own niche.

This definitely has promise, though, so keep at it.

Burst mage, poison proficiency, ult lets him defy death like Zilean's. Sounds rather interesting, actually.

The new artwork is coming soon . . . stay tuned!

quick question on the passive. will it be an ability reset like rangos ferocity?

Aiko Umesawa6/24/2016, 4:40:46 AM1 votes

I like it however, What would happen if his skillshot (r) hit yasuos windwall?

I heard rito was thinking of ways to rework shaco and that they tried to potentially have shacos r be a skillshot. However, when he used it and it hit the windwall he dissapeared from the game completely....... NOT REALLY RELEVANT

but what would he do? just bounce off of wall... orrrrrrrrrr? IDK

Also for a possible quote: Diseases are at every corner/Diseases are everywhere.

Great sounds like it might be very fun if put in the game, Im an idiot and half the things i say aren't relevant U_Uitem 3070

I really enjoy this concept. I have a fondness for champions that involve poison and I"m sure it would be the same for one that utilizes plagues. However, I'm curious. Would this being be considered a male or female? I ask because of the name it was given :3 Maybe instead their name could be ripped from a scientific name for a well known plague or bacteria. I only suggest this because of riot's love for peculiar names. I know this isn't much of an improvement in weirdness for names but why not name them 'the Helix'. It's disease could attack the proteins of the body, even going so far as to devour any 'fuel' it could come across. Just a suggestion :3

I would love to see this champion in game and I'm sure there are plenty of other puns that could be added towards this character as well.

So with that, I'd like to say, "Awesome concept and ideas! This does seem like a rather plausible character, so long as riot could find a way to make them viable." Thanks for reading! TaTa!
