Ok, hear me out. There was a war and they lost. Illaoi was captured and assimilated into the enemy ranks. Karma escaped but is filled with regrets from her inability to help her team, with Kalista who sustained much damage from the war and vowed to never fight again. Annie is the daughter of two members that died during the war, and she wants both revenge and to follow in their footsteps. And Sylas...Sylas is another member who was captured and tortured.
The story sees the current teams fighting against an invasion led by Illaoi, who's seen by Karma. Karma finds Kalista and managed to convince her to rejoin the fight to save Illaoi. Doing so, they notice that Illaoi has powers of the enemy. Annie sees them and joins much to their disdain regarding who she is and her age. Together they join the rest to go save Sylas, who Illaoi says is still captured. But when they see him...he's not the same happy Star Guardian that they used to know.
Or something like that. Man, I'd make it a comic if I had the art skills.
