Athanasius, the Immortal King (Champion Concept)
So after a much needed break from a little concept spree I was beginning a while ago, I'm back with yet another concept.
#Stats
Health: 602 - 2220 Health Regen: 7.7 - 22.9 Mana: 376.2 - 894.3 Mana Regen: 8.03 - 16.9 Melee: 175 Attack Damage: 55.7 - 142.4 Attack Speed: .625 - .96 Armor: 26.7 - 93.4 Magic Resist: 32.1 - 53.4 Movement Speed: 335
Role: Fighter Secondary: Tank
#Abilities
Passive: Unholy Aura - Enemies close to Athanasius lose a small % of their health over time. Percentage slightly increases per level and damage is done over ticks of time, tick timer increases at levels 6, 11, and 16. (Ex. Lvl 1 = % damage every 5 seconds. Lvl 6 = % damage every 4 seconds. Lvl 11= 3 seonds and lvl 16=2 seconds.) ( Not actual # for tick time but you get the idea. Also I haven't decided if they lose % of max health or current health.)
Q: Leech life - Summons a wave in a cone to deal magic damage to all enemies in its path. A portion of all damage dealt to enemies is returned as health, more health being gained if enemy champions were hit, and even more if a unit died to it. ( Ex. damage to minions give say 10 health back while champions give say 30 or 40. However if a minion died it would actually grant 40 health and champions killed would grant say 150 health or something. Note: this is for everyone hit. So somehow killing the whole team with this could grant 750 health, or 200 if they survived. Again not actual # in place this is just for example.)
Notes:
- The cone is similar to Mordekaiser's E but maybe slightly smaller and doesn't instantly hit all units in it. It kinda shoots out like a wave, think Ashe's W if you will.
W: Soul Stealer - Passive: Every time Athanasius is close to a unit that dies, he takes 1 essence from them, 2 if he personally killed them, 5 for siege minions and monsters, and 20 from champions (10 from assists). Every essence gives him a small amount of bonus health, to a max amount (Max increases per rank of ability).
Active: Athanasius surrounds himself in a spiritual shield for X seconds, the value of the shield is equal to a based value + a % of AP and how much essence he has gather. After X seconds he may reactivate the ability to pop the shield and if he does, or waits for the duration to expire, the shield bursts deal magic damage, once again on a base amount + % AP but also expends about 1/4 of essence gathered as well as bonus damage. Essence lost will also lose the bonus health. Denotation will also slow all enemies by % for X seconds. If the sheild is destroyed before the timer expires or before reactivation, it will still do damage but will not gain the essence bonus, damage will be reduced by a %, slow duration will heavily be reduced and 1/2 of total essence will be lost. (Note: You don't lose the essence while the shield is up, so you will still maintain the current bonus health you have with the current essence. Essence is only lost after the shield is detonated or destroyed.)
E: Cursed Blade - Passive: Athanasius' attacks reduced targets attack speed by a % amount and any damage they do to him by a separate % amount. Can stack multiple times up to a cap. Their is a duration on the attack speed slow but the damage reduction from target will switch to however Athanasius is attacking. (Note: Before everyone starts telling me this, yes this may seem not that interesting or very OP or whatever but I couldn't think of another ability for his E at the time so this is so far a placeholder. If I get good feedback, however, I may keep this. Suggestions for E are welcome if you have any.)
R: Wrath of the King (Two Ideas for this)
-
When ever Athanasius takes fatal damage while this ability is not on cooldown, he will go through a cycle where it looks like his death animation but instead he gets back up, regaining a portion of his health back, while also consuming all essence he has to add more health back (bonus health gain if he had max essence), gains bonus attack speed, movement speed and (possibly) lifesteal for a short period of 4 seconds. (Cooldown would be roughly high, even in late game, like 3-4 minutes at rank one and still 3-2.5 minutes at max maybe.)
-
Athanasius strikes at the ground, causing a fissure to slowly form from the strike. As it's forming, all enemies in its path will be dealt minor damage. After it fully forms and a slight delay, however, dark spiritual energy will erupt from the fissure, dealing damage to all enemies caught in it + bonus damage to enemies damage by it as it was forming. ( Think a little bit like Braum's ult. As it's forming it damages all enemies, but anyone who crosses it after it has formed and the delay is dealt its base damage and anyone who was damaged by it as it was forming is dealt bonus damage on top of the base damage.)
#Lore
( So for the lore I actually had two ideas as well. One is for if he was based in Valoran and the other is if he was based in another far off land on Runeterra. If you don't know what I'm taking about check the link to see one of my discussions on expanding the world of League. You can then decide later if it's a good idea or not: (http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/Qcm7iocZ-map-update-and-world-expansion)
Valoran Version
Long before Shurima, the Watchers, the Great nations of the world or even the Rune Wars, there were great kingdoms of humanity built long ago. Built by men in the early days when magic was first being discovered, but now there names and records of them and their kingdoms almost gone from time and war. Among these rulers was one that stood out from the rest, Athanasius. He was one, if not the most, cruel ruler throughout Valoran's history. He saw the world as his jewel for the taking and forged a kingdom under which he ruled tyrannically with an iron fist. Everywhere he roamed he conquered. Anyone he didn't like just by their looks he took their heads on pikes. Any riches, drink, or woman that he wanted he took as he pleased. Even with all of his subjects in suffering he only cared about one thing: himself and taking rule of the world for his own. However he faced the grim reality that someday he would die and all that he had gained and built would be lost from him. However with the discovery of magic, he sought out a way to make him last forever. After years of searching, he finally found something that showed potential. A witch came to him and offered him a ritual to grant him immortality, though at a price that in order to maintain it, he would have to constantly gather fresh souls. The king still accepted this offer, for he wasn't afraid to sacrifice his subjects lives for his own. After they had completed the ritual, he set out to conquer the surrounding kingdoms, gathering as many people to keep around for harvest, and of course women for his needs.
Hundreds of years he then ruled, till one day an army of his subjects came to his doorstep, trying to overthrow him. He did not fear them, for no matter how many times he was dealt a killing blow, he just came back to return one to them. They retreated from his castle and he hastily followed after them, only to be lead into a trap. The subjects had found mages willing to put an end to this tyrant's rule and so they lead him into a magic seal, where he became trapped and was soon sealed away, far off in a tomb that hopefully was never to be found and prey that his immortality would were off before the prison broke. He remained trapped in that tomb for some time. However as the Rune Wars followed, they weakened the prison, allowing Athanasius to regain consciousness and try to open his tomb. He struggled with it, slowly gaining more power and weakening the magic binding him until he finally broke free. When he emerged from his prison he saw that the world had greatly changed. His kingdom had been reduced to dust and scattered to the winds, and new kingdoms had risen. Now free from his entombment, he strides about the world making all bow before him and slaying any who resist his new goal: rebuild his kingdom and try to take the whole world for his rule once more.
_Expanded World Version _
To save time I'll just say this. It's basically similar to Valoran's: Tyrant, bigger ego then Draven, wants to be immortal and rule the world. However in this one he has a daughter, (which just for a hint may love a bit too much.) Later he discovers the witch and she gives him immortality. When he returns to his kingdom, however, he's told that his daughter has been kidnapped by one of the rival kingdoms in the new world. So for years he goes around conquering the kingdoms till he gets to the last one, meets the queen and demands her to tell where his daughter is. He is trapped by mages, same as before, but before fully going into his prison the queen tells him that she is his daughter, now heavily aged. He's also told that its been seventy something years since he began to search for her and she ran away from him instead of kidnapped. He's then entombed while letting out a cry of pure rage at her. Then of course he's entombed and the Rune Wars actually still effect his prison as well still. He breaks free more immediately, more around Shurima's fall, where then he begins to rebuild his kingdom from brainwashed worshipers of him as well as some undead and demons, and begins yet another war with the other kingdoms. Hundreds of years or however long to present day and he hears of new lands across the sea, to which he sets his sights on for expanding his kingdom and increasing his grasp of the world.
#Personality
Overall he's suppose to feel like a villain throughout the world thing. He's a tyrant, undead, wants to rule the whole world, etc. I also imagine him as almost having a bigger ego then Draven, just for the fact that he cares nothing for himself and ruling his kingdom. He just doesn't care about anyone else or their needs. If he sees something that benefits him or he wants he'll just take it, just believing that he deserves everything in existence on Runeterra.
#Itemization

Here are just some items that I thought could benefit him, but if you think of some different items then that's fine.
#Trivia
-
The concept is heavily based around_ Dota 2's_ Wraith King and Necrophos, as well as smaller inspiration from Arthas from WoW, Leoric from HotS/Diablo and Nekusar from Magic the Gathering. (Which by the way is the art used above. All credit goes to the original artist.)
-
Originally, he was going to be an undead king who could summon an army of zombies in game, kinda like a mix of Azir and Yorick. However, I decided that having an undead king seemed enough and so I split the concept down to undead king and a necromancer character that I will begin working on quite soon and sharing to you guys.
-
His name comes from ancient Greek and basically means "immortal" and "death".
And that's the end of my concept. If you didn't enjoy and only have hate for this then please just move along. However, if you did enjoy, please vote up and feel free to leave any comments or questions about him. Also feel free to look at my other concepts in the links below. Thank you all for reading this.
