Welcome to another one of my champion concepts :D I’m Candurill, and for those who do not know me, I like to create and imagine champions within league of legends, complete with lore, kit and gameplay thoughts ^^ This time I have for you a concept that has a few things that I’ve never done before...for one, I tried to combine the roles of Support and Marksman, something that Riot only seemed to have tried with Ashe (although in her case, support Ashe isn’t really played). Another thing is that I tried to connect my lore directly with the lore of other champions that already exist in league. No I do not name them literally, but I make a vague hint to them. I’ve explained my intention in a short paragraph under the lore section, but if you want to puzzle it out for yourself then be my guest ^^.

#Jorah, The Arc of Solus#

#Character:#

##Champion intention:## Like I said, I wanted to create a champion that would work for both the Support role and the Marksman role. I also wanted to fortify his theme as symbol to the Demacian people in a teamwork oriented kit. This however, meant that I had to balance out utility and damage quite a bit. I believe that I have succeeded in making a kit that would work with both playstyles and builds and works best when coordinating well with his teammates. Lore wise, I wanted to make a templar-esc archer, a paragon of the Faith that provides moral support for his men in battle. I also wanted to explore the beliefs and ideals of the Demacian people some more, broadening the Runeterran pantheon with the addition of Solus, the legendary hero of Demacia’s past that ascended to godhood and now guides his people through their belief in him. However, I also wanted to show the other side of faith, since there will always be those that doubt such things. Thus, in the universe of league of legends, the faith of Solus is but a mere cult, only just becoming more and more renown through Jorah and the miracles he performs.

##Appearance:##

I found this picture, which is a pretty good representation of what I would want Jorah to look like (NOT MY ART!!! It is concept art for Sabastian Vael, made by the makers of Dragon age 2). He would not have a quiver though, since the arrows he fires are made out of pure light. He should have a serious and diligent demeanour. Very pious in his faith, but not so strict that he can’t take a joke. He is always watchfull in his poses and prays to Solus occasionally in his idle animation. His voice should sound bright, young and confident.

##Passive, Arc of Solus:## Jorah’s legendary golden bow manifests his willpower in the form of arrows of holy light, with which he will punish those that harm his allies. Enemies that have damaged allied champions in the past 1.5 seconds will take an additional 3.5% (lvl 1) / 4% (lvl 6) / 4.5% (lvl 11) / 5% (lvl 16) of the opponent’s current health as bonus Magic damage upon every one of Jorah’s auto attacks.

##Q: Heaven’s Beacon.## Range: 600 units Cooldown: 14 seconds Mana cost: 65 Mana Active: Jorah fires a empowered arrow into the sky that will strike a target location after a 1 second delay. Upon striking the ground, the arrow will create a flash of light that will apply the "Hallowed" debuff to all enemies within a 300 unit radius. After the initial flash, the light will linger around the arrow for another 3 seconds, giving nearby allies (within 900 units) 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% Movement Speed when moving towards it. If Jorah or an allied champion picks the arrow up, it will emit a second flash that will Nearsight and Slow (20%) all enemy units within the flash radius (300 unit radius) for 1 / 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.5 seconds, but will deactivate the Movement Speed effect.

##W, Prayer:## Radius: 400 units Cooldown: 20 seconds Mana cost: 85 Mana Active: Jorah chants a prayer to Solus, granting him and one nearby ally (prioritising allies affected by CC) 15% / 17.5% / 20% / 22.5% / 25% Attack Speed for 2 seconds. If Jorah or his ally is effected by slows, roots or stuns (so no displacement or polymorphs), both are cleansed of this effect and gain 25% Movement Speed as well as the Attack Speed buff for the same duration. If Jorah’s ultimate “Champion of the Just” is in effect, the cleanse and the buffs extends to all allies within the barrier.

##E, Hallowed Arrows:## Cooldown (active effect): 14 seconds **Mana cost:**50 Mana Passive: Jorah’s auto attacks cause enemies to gain the “Hallowed” debuff for 2 seconds (refreshing with every hit), which gives true sight over affected enemies for the duration of the effect, preventing them from becoming Hidden or Stealthed. Additionally, Jorah gains 100 / 125 / 150 / 175 / 200 units of bonus range when targeting Hallowed enemies. Active: Jorah calls upon Solus to smite all Hallowed enemies on the map, consuming the debuff but dealing 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+ 45% AP) Magic Damage to them and Slowing them by 35% for 2 seconds instead. This will put the ability, including the passive, on cooldown.

https://www.hiveworkshop.com/data/ratory-images/63/63440-f45857e70874a7f63d2e721bdecb804e.jpg

##R, Champion of the Just:## Range: 450 units Cooldown: 120 / 105 / 90 seconds Mana cost: 100 Mana Active: Jorah calls upon Solus to bless him and nearby allies. A shimmering barrier of hallowed light will form in a 450 unit radius around Jorah that will Shield all allied units inside for 175 / 250 / 325 (+ 35% AP) points of health per affected champion. This Shield is shared among all units, and will slowly degrade over 5 / 6 / 7 seconds. Individual abilities that hit only one champion will be dealt to the Shield normally, but area of effect spells will only be subtracted from the Shield once, not per champion hit. In essence, the shield and all allies in it, are considered one entity with one health bar when it concerns damage, until the shield runs out. During the duration of the Shield, all allied champions gain one free dash towards Jorah when right clicking on him (800 unit radius), gaining the benefits of the Shield upon arrival.

#Gameplay:#

##Marksman Jorah:## If he goes marksman, he builds AD (obviously) and levels his E first. This gives him the edge of extra range when fighting his enemies, allowing him to stay out of range, while whittling down the enemy. This playstyle would be paired best with an diving support, giving them the chance to initiate when Jorah hits his enemies with Heavens Beacon, keeping their own engage tool for when the enemy tries to escape. Jorah can also react very well to enemy engages with Prayer (W). When the enemy initiates with any slow, root or stun, Jorah can cleanse either him or his ally, gaining a boost in both movement and attack speed. This allows him to immediately counter engage on the enemy. The downside to playing Jorah as a Marksman, is that he has no steroid damage like many other marksman in game, other then some extra magic damage from his passive. This is outweighed by the fact that he brings a lot of utility to the botlane, even with a less utility based support.

To counter a Jorah Marksman, you have to hit him quick and hard...preferably as early in the game as possible. Allowing Jorah to win lane will not make your late game any better. Try picking heavy damage and hard engage champions to burst him down quick, or stay with him long enough to whittle him down. His lack of early damage will be your chance to cripple him for the rest of the game.

##Support Jorah:## If he goes support, he builds support items and levels his W first. With prayer and Heavens Beacon, Jorah is in the unique position to make sure his Marksman ally stays in attacking range of his enemy. Combine this with the Hallowed passive that makes sure that your ally doesn’t lose sight of his quarry, will make Jorah for a truly terrifying support. HE is unique in the fact that he is both a poking support, that also brings utility to the botlane.

To counter a Jorah support you go pretty much the same way as when he plays marksman. Hard engage and a lot of burst damage will make sure he wont have use of all his utility.

#Lore:#

The Arc of Solus”, “Jorah the Saint”, Jorah Arrum is known under many names, almost all given to him by the members of the cult of Solus. But even to those who do not count themselves among the cult members, Jorah has built quite the reputation. Seen as a symbol to the Demacian army, Jorah diligently serves his country and his faith as one of the promised heroes of legend. Wielding a mysterious, god-sent relic in battle, even the most down to earth Demacians are starting to doubt their beliefs on the subject of a higher power...

Ancient legends speak of a time when Demacia knew many powerful warriors. These ancient Heroes were the very embodiment of the Demacian morals and ideals. The cult of Solus believes that one of these great heroes of yore ascended to godhood after his death and now watches over his countrymen from beyond the light of the sun and the stars. The faith follows a number of teksts, said to have been engraved onto three “Heroic Relics” that were left by Solus, of which only 1 is still in the cult’s possession. These teksts speak of a time of great light that will be preceded by a time of great darkness. In preparation for this time of darkness, three hero’s would rise up from the Demacian people and wield the ancient Heroic Relics, manifesting their Demacian spirit and will, guiding the nation to a new and brighter future. While the cult at first only had a following of commoners and some minor noble families of Demacia, it gained a far more patriotic and respectable reputation when the rumor spread of the first of the three hero’s surfacing in a small town called Greenshire.

The town, known to be home to a great number of cultists, had been under attack by a Noxian war-band for several days when the temple, where the young, elderly and infirm had gone into hiding, was struck by a blast of magical fire. As the building collapsed, many believed that all those inside had perished. But as the smoke cleared and the rubble was removed, a dome of heavenly light began to break through, under which a number of children had taken refuge and were seemingly unharmed. The light seemed to originate from a young nobleman, only a boy by many standards. When all under the dome had been saved, the golden light vanished and the boy collapsed. When he woke, he was questioned about what happened. He said that the only thing he had done, was pray to Solus to deliver them from harm. To the Grand Cleric of the Faith, this was an undeniable sign that the boy was chosen as one of the three heroes that had been foretold.

In the years after that, Jorah of house Arrum was trained by the very best Demacia had to offer. He wields the only Heroic Relic that was still in the faiths possession, the very shortbow that had been wielded by the hero-god himself. With the bow, Jorah manifests his will in the form of rays of pure light that he shoots at his enemies, not needing a quiver and never running out of ammo. He now serves the Demacian army as a symbol of hope, darting through the ranks to rally the men and pierce his enemies with shafts of holy light. He sees it as his duty to guide the Demacian people and bring the light of Solus to all corners of Valoran.

Any observant eye however, might notice how all of Jorah’s abilities seem to originate from inside of himself. In fact, the power that he wields seems more akin to the gift of magic that sporadically manifests in a few other noble Demacian bloodlines. This means that whatever force Jorah manifests, it might not be Solus acting on his behalf at all. However, whether it was Solus will for the gift to manifest in Jorah or just mere coincidence, is still a mystery. It is clear that a time of great darkness is coming, and for now, it seems like Jorah is exactly whom Demacia needed, exactly when it needed him most...

##Short story:## I wrote this as a short story (REALLY not my forte...) but this could easily be a cinematic like Xayah and Rakan had :D

##Protect those, that cannot protect themselves...##

Pray that we are not too late…’ He thought as trees flashed by and the steady gallop of his stallion thundered on the rugged path. He didn’t even wait for orders when he heard the news. In light of the recent Noxian activity in the area, his hometown, the village of Greenshire, had been ordered to evacuate and seek safe haven behind the front lines of the Demacian army. The town had been right on the route of the Noxian war-party, but too far away from the nearest stronghold to be worth defending. The order for all the inhabitants to retreat had come long before the Noxian force was even within a day’s march of the town and the Demacian leadership had left it at that. But then that night, a message had come from one of the scouting parties. Apparently, a splinter of the Noxian main force had split off and started to make its way into a different direction, right through the forest that the villagers had to cross to get to safety. The Noxian plan was probably to flank the Demacians, but would no doubt massacre the entire group of refugees if they came upon them in the forest…If they didn’t already know they would be there… ‘Great Solus, I envoke thy name…By thy grace, please let us not be too late…’ Jorah directed his hearts-voice directly to the heavens, willing with all his might that the legendary hero would hear them. As if his prayers were heard, his horse whinnied and picked up an even faster pace, just as the horses of the 5 other disciples of the faith that accompanied him. “Solus is with us brothers and sisters!! Let us show courage in the face of evil and protect those that cannot protect themselves!!” He chanted as he started to see lights in the distance. The lights were torches, held by the refugees. ‘Then is it-‘ A scream was heard. Fire flashed between the torches as a ball of fire exploded against one of the caravans. Jorah’s heart sank, but he did not give up. His horse sprinted onto the great road where the civilians had started to run in panic. Further down the road he could see Noxian raiders chasing them and cutting down any man or woman they could plunge their axes in. As his horse rode past the fleeing refugees, Jorah grabbed his bow and moved his hands as if he was notching an arrow. In stead, a beam of light formed between his fingers and the bow, shaping into a bolt of light. He let the bright arrow fly and without making a sound it plunged into the shoulder of a Noxian warrior, launching him backwards. Even before he touched the ground, Jorah had already fired another arrow, hitting another Noxian in the chest. Two other disciples had drawn their sword, dashing towards the enemy, while the last three started to guide the refugees towards the Demacian frontline. By that time, the Noxian raiders had already noticed them and started to organise themselves. Jorah leapt from his horse, all the while elegantly firing arrow after arrow. At his feet he saw a Demacian man holding his leg in pain, with an arrow protruding from it. With a single swift motion Jorah fired an arrow straight upward. After a second, a flash of light fell through the trees between the Noxian warriors and as it touched the ground, a blinding light blasted in every direction. His enemies held their hands for their eyes, but his allies did not seem to be bothered by its brightness. While the enemy was disoriented, Jorah quickly helped the wounded man onto his horse, after which he gave it a pet on the flank, sending it with the other refugees. With that, the last of the surviving refugees were on their way. The feeling of relief was only brief however, as an ominous purple light started to flicker in the distance. A Noxian, dressed in black robes adorned with gold and other metals, appeared from between the trees, holding an orb of black and purple energy in his hands. Jorah’s eyes widened as the man moved his hands like he wanted to throw the orb. “TO ME!!!” He called, dashing forward. The disciples didn’t hesitate and disengaged from their opponents to run back to Jorah. The Noxian mage yelled as he hurled the orb of energy towards them. As the projectile made its way to Jorah and his allies, Jorah halted and raised his face to the heavens. He chose the brightest star in the sky and addressed a prayer to the great hero that dwelled behind it. “Raise your voices to the heavens!” Hardly had he mumbled the words or he could feel the light inside him react. “Not alone do we stand on the field of battle!!” A barrier made of shimmering light expanded from Jorah, covering his two allies just before the orb of malicious magic would have struck them. The projectile in stead, hit the barrier, blasting apart in a blaze of dark fire. As the smoke cleared, they saw the enemy through the barrier grimacing. With clear reluctance, the mage signed the retreat and turned around. After shooting a few angry glances at them, the others followed, seeing as there was no use fighting. As their enemy dripped back into the woods, Jorah let the dome of light disappear. He glanced around. He saw many bodies, many of which were refugees. "So many...dead...Were we too late?" One of the disciples asked, with a twinge of regret in his voice. Jorah's heart felt just as heavy. "We did all we could. But do not fear, they are with Solus now. They are safe now from the darkness..." He said. Again he lifted his face to the stars. "Blessed are the righteous, the lights in the shadow. In their life Solus' will is done...In their death Solus' sorrow shines bright...But they are not forgotten...Let their light shine like a beacon, calling all to arms...to stand against the darkness...and to defend all that lives..."

##Lore trivia:##

  • Little is known about the other Heroic Relics, but various legends speak of one relic taking the form of a big hammer.
  • Solus only used one of the Heroic Relics himself. The others were used by other ancient heroes.
  • Jorah’s nickname “The Arc of Solus” is actually the name of his bow.
  • “The Arc of Solus” was named so only after Solus ascension to godhood. It would be very egocentric to name your weapon after yourself...

##Lore notes:## I tried to do something I had never done before in my lore...take up other champions in the story...well I didn’t literally name them, but I did hint to the identity of the other two heroes that would guide the people of Demacia. These I believe, would be Poppy, who is searching for the hero, not noticing she is the hero herself, and Lux, wielding a power similar to that of Jorah, but instead realizing its true, magical nature. Together with Jorah, who DOES know/believe that he is the chosen hero, but does not see his gift for what it is, this would make a pretty good trinity.

#Skin Ideas:#

##Program Jorah:## Even though Camille already had this theme as a first skin, it would fit Jorah very well too. Maybe make it come out with a program jungler (like Evelyn, making her some kind of virus), to round up the program team (Camille top, Lissandra mid and Soraka support). Id imagine hed have the normal program white and green colour scheme, while his bow fires lines of code of polygons. I'd love for this skin to change his quotes, for instance:

When casting R: "Firewall up." "Firewall installed" "Protect the mainframe!"

When casting E: "Reboot initiated." "Deleting Cookies..." "Anit-virus scan completed."

And more stuff like that XD

##Guardian of the Sands Jorah:## This skin would be very interesting as a first skin, giving him a golden armor with vividly colored details. It could be styled a bit like Azir's sand soldiers and his bow could have accents mirroring the Sun-disc.

##Heretic/Noxian Jorah:## This skin would be very cool in contrast to his normal model. It would be cool to see him dossed out in Noxian garb, with his bow a darker or more metalic color. He'd obviously have different quotes.

##Emerald Jorah:## Similar to the Taric skin, the Elven aesthetic would fit very well with his holy archer theme. His bow could be made out of wood, with green gems as embellishments. He would have silvery/blond hair and pointed ears. Ofcourse, the green of the emerald could just as easily be switched for a different gemstone, to make it fit better next to Emerald Taric and Amethist Ashe...Maybe sapphire or onix/obsidian...(yellow) opal wouldn't really be all that different compared to his normal model and ruby would be too close to Bloodstone Taric's color scheme.

##Hero of Legend/Demacia Jorah:## Maybe a skin line he can share with Poppy and Lux (if it follows the lore I wrote for him ^^) . Maybe it could even be tied to a Demacia based event!!! I wouldn't know how he would be visually different from his normal model though...

When I read Jorah, I though it will be something like Jorah, Lord of the Friendzone.

His joke should be something about having a guiding light through the friendzone. Simply because his name is Jorah.

What is the counterplay and how does the enemy play around Jorah's passive? It seems like it just punishes them for playing the game.

The champion sounds really solid but if he were to be made into a real champ i would most likely expect people to play him as support due to his utility. Very good concept thought 10/10 would buy if he ever becomes a real champion.

He seems like a really cool champion, but a marksman with a self-cleanse in their kit would be quite powerful... I'm not sure there is a way to make that balanced.

I think that the passive deals a little too much damage early game. You should do higher % damage but make it magic damage instead of true damage.

Just give him khaleesi's ass.

This looks like an adc i could play (i am a supp main) and why no quote to Kayle ? also why not have the passive trigger on "Hallowed" targets?

This concept is really cool! Both an adc and support would be an awesome addition! Though if this does become a sort of reality, I would think he would be mostly played ap mid due to his ratios. I think some ratio and damage type changes could balance it out maybe? I could totally see a Kayle build on him however so who knows. But an awesome concept!

I'm no expert, but i see a few flaws. For the offensive parts there's the %True damage, added range and an attack speed buff. Then there's the utility part. A blind, 2 slows, a cleanse and the ult.

Honestly the offensive buffs are an absurd combination, but it actually gets dumpstered by his base attack speed. 0.481 is insanely low for base attack speed to the point where he would simply never be played as an ADC due to his damage probably being too low despite his steroids

Then there's the buttload of utility in the kit, which honestly shouldn't be on an ADC. Having a 2 second AoE blind is pretty insane and then there's the ult. I imagine the ult would cause a lot problems mainly due to the 800 range dash as that alone is an insane amount of utility before taking into account the shield.

But what the hell do i know.

Ayyyy!!! (Dont mind me, incoming friendly neighbor review, also it's mandatory I do this to enter the competition now) So far, I'm super into this demacian man who supports you, but could ADC you if he really wanted to

People seem to show concern about our friend Jorah may be put in the Midland due to his AP ratios

To that I counter with saying that thanks to his passive, he will be enticed to go bot regardless

Q is a weird ability, seeing most As in comparison is an aggressive ability, when in reality it doesnt even do damage, I see it more of an ability that has several uses (get away, engage) but otherwise, it ain't half bad, though I feel it should do SOME damage seeing its on... You know... A Q... We dont wanna get players to instinctively throw an arrow into the enemy team expecting it to do something, otherwise great for playmaking! (Oh shit, NVM, just reread his E, I take back what I said about damage, this ability is strong)

W is a really powerful ability, like that's a free QSS and that may make Silas lean more on an ADC, seeing he can support himself and his support, or utilize his support abilities to essentially support himself otherwise, it gives a good reason to pick him, as an ADC, a little more than a support. Also attack speed steroid... That's gonna be a tiny problem, seeing the history of champions who could amplify stats like that. For example Nunu's blood oil was so strong at one point he was pushed out of the jungle into being a support. I feel this ability should just straight up be single targeted and castable even stunned, so he doesn't double cleans and bolter attack speed. That's like free artificial gold

E is oh boy... I'm thinking Jo here just begs to be a real unique character, though I'm not sure if this ability should scale with AD, but on the other hand, he is an ADC support hybrid, which kinda balances out with my last point of him being able to support himself, seeing he doesnt do outright damage like a proper ADC, but from what I understand he has an attack speed steroid solo...

Ultimate this... Kinda useless on an ADC, useful in a support, interesting way of a shield nonetheless, this is like mega thresh lantern on steroids

Thematic: I say you captured the theme of an ADC cleric man just perfectly, you also put your spin on things with adding gods to demacia, I'm kinda iffey about the magic part, though I feel a demacian magic should be explored more alongside lux

Rating from 1 being absolute garbage, 10 being absolutely perfect, and 5 being everything in between....
