[Champion Concept] Khai, The Abyssal Torrent
Hey guys :D A new concept from your truly ^^ Lemme know what you guys think!!! I’ve been working on this concept a while now. I wanted to create a water elemental champion that would focus on just throwing enemies around with jets of water. The result is a CC heavy tank champion that excels at keeping enemies where he wants them.
This Concept is an entrant in the Community Concept Open Stage (CCOS) of November!! Take a look at the entry post and leave some nice comments for the other contestants when you are done looking at Khai :)

#Identity:#
Name: Khai Gender: Male Origin: Serpent Isles (Blue Flame Isles) Race: Spirit
##Appearance:## http://s12.postimg.org/65jrayo5p/zheng_sun_1308311612ef0a61446f089df6.jpg
##This is NOT my art!!!!!! The original picture is from here.##
This is pretty much how I imagined him. Big, raging water creature. He would have a deep voice, with an eerie sound that makes you feel like its coming from under water...
#Kit:#
Role: Support/Tank (Vanguard)
Health: 613 -2415 Health Regen.: 8.68 -23.1 Attack Damage: 61.1 -123 Attack Speed: 0.625 (+ 0 -36.1%) Armor: 24.4 -83.9 Magic Resist.: 32.1 -53.4 Melee: 175 Move. Speed: 330
##Resource, Water:## Khai has no Mana, but instead works with Water (measured in Gallons) to fuel his abilities. This bar will start out with a base of 550 (+1.5% Max Health per level) Gallons and will increase with a flat 50 every time Khai levels up (ending up with a flat 1400 Gallons at lvl 18). Water does not regenerate by itself, unless Khai is in the river (50 gallons per second) or in the allied fountain (almost instantly). (In The Twisted Treeline or The Howling Abyss, where the river is sadly absent, Khai fills his reservoir with Water from the air, restoring 10 Gallons per second while on the allied side of the field.)
Unique interaction: Whenever a friendly Nami
hits Khai with one of her abilities, his Water reservoir is filled by 0.01% of his Maximum Water.
(This is just a thematically fun idea and not essentially part of the concept. Disregard it if you dislike it ^^ I got the idea from the fact that champions with sunglasses take 1/2 points of damage less and some plant based champions (Zyra, Maokai, Etc.) grow bigger when hit by Leona's abilities ^^)

##Passive, Lifting Currents:## Khai’s body is a raging current of water. He ignores unit collision with Minions and Neutral Monsters (not Champions) and any enemy unit that comes in contact (100 unit radius) with him for at least 0.5 second gets knocked up for 0.75 seconds. After being knocked up, affected enemies are immune to the effect for 8 seconds. Two of Khai's abilities trigger this passive effect and share the same champion specific cooldown. Additionally, Khai’s presence on the surface causes underground currents to surge upward and spill onto the ground. Every 20 seconds a Water Spring will surface near Khai and remain for 1 minute. From this spring he can refill his Water reservoirs by right clicking on them, entering a channel that lasts until he breaks it off by moving, the spring dries up or when the channel is interrupted in any other way. Each Spring will contain 90 (+20 / champion level) Spring Water for Khai to consume by 25 (lvl1) / 50 (lvl6) / 75 (lvl11) / 100 (lvl16) Gallons each second. Enemies can stand on top of the well for 1 second to dampen it (similar to Rek'sai tunnels). When playing Khai in the Howling Abyss, Surfaced springs will not dissipate on their own, but will linger indefinitely, until they are utilised.

##Q, Gathering Streams:## Cost: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 Gallons Cooldown: 12 seconds Active: Khai summons a spring of water out of the ground (during a 0.5 second animation) at a target location and immediately lets a torrent of water surge towards him, moving enemies in the direction its traveling (150 units) and dealing 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+ 10% Max Water) magic damage. If there are any Water Springs in his cast range, additional streams will originate from them, converging at Khai's location and each dealing half the damage of the original torrent originating from the main spring. Enemies hit by multiple streams will be pushed back in a direction influenced by all streams that hit. One seconds worth of Water will be consumed from the Spring when casting this ability. When "Aquaform" is active, just one torrent will form, but it will be broader, will have a larger range and enemies will be pushed further (250 units). Note: Springs created by this ability are not the same as "Surfaced Springs" and will disappear immediately after being utilised.

##W, From the Deep:## Cost: 100 / 105 / 110 / 115 / 120 Gallons Cooldown: 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 seconds Active: Khai’s body Seeps into the ground at his current location for up to 2 seconds, becoming un-targetable. Targeting a location within a 600 unit radius will make him emerge from the ground with a 0.5 second delay (animated by bubbles rising up from the ground) at that location. All enemies within a 150 unit radius (250 unit radius if “Aquaform”is active) will be dealt 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+ 15% Max Water) Magic Damage and will be knocked-up by "Lifting Currents". Although Khai cannot Attack or use most of his abilities while un-targetable, "Gathering Streams" can be activated during this time. However, torrents will only originate from nearby Surfaced Springs. Obviously, he wont be able to cast "Gathering Streams" when there are no Surfaced Spring nearby, or when "Aquaform" is active.

##E, Aquaform:## Cost: 4% / 5.5% / 7% / 8.5% / 10% of Current Water Cooldown: 16 seconds Active: Khai engorges himself with water from his Water reservoir and nearby surfaced Springs, becoming significantly larger (including a bigger model/hitbox), pushing enemies aside (100 units) and gaining a shield equal to 4% / 5.5% / 7% / 8.5% / 10% of his Current Water reserves plus the combined amount of absorbed Water from nearby springs (flat shield will be filled up to a maximum shield of 400 / 450 / 500 / 550 / 600 with water from nearby Springs). This shield will start to decay over a 3 second period, when Khai is out of combat for at least 3 seconds. By becoming physically bigger, the area in which Lifting currents is active becomes bigger as well (200 unit radius). His Auto Attack range increases aswel (250 units).

##R, Pull of the Abyss:## Cost: 200 / 300 / 400 Gallons Cooldown: 100 / 80 / 60 seconds Active: Khai roots himself in place, becomes immune to CC and summons a Maelstrom around himself (700 / 800 / 900 unit radius) for up to 5 seconds. Enemy units standing inside the effect range will be pulled towards the centre (when standing still) with a speed of 60% / 70% / 80% of Khai’s movement speed. Enemies can only move away from the centre when their movement speed is higher then the speed at which they are pulled back. If their movement speed IS higher, their movement speed is reduced by 15% for every second they spend trying to get out. Enemies that reach the centre of the ability will get knock-up by "Lifting Currents", will take 150 / 250 / 350 (+ 20% Max Water) magic damage and have their Movement Speed reset. Khai can use auto attacks, "Aquaform" and "Gathering Streams" while this ability is active. Khai can deactivate the ability prematurely, putting it on cooldown.

##The general idea:## The idea for a water elemental type champion had been spooking around in my head for some time, but it never came to fruition because it never felt "right". In the process of creating Khai he switched names, gender, abilities and general play-style more times then I can count. When I finally came with the idea of his ultimate however (Inspired by the big maelstrom in Pirates of the Caribbean) I settled on making Khai a malevolent spirit/god of the seas. His play-style ended up focussing on displacement effects, with little damage output, but high playmaking potential.
##Currents in the Bot-lane:## I believe that he would do best as a tanky support champion. Almost all of his abilities allow him to move and hold his enemies wherever he wants them to, allowing the Marksman to go in and do all the damage. His main poking ability would be his Q "Gathering Streams", allowing him to hit enemies from unexpected angles when there are Surfaced Springs nearby and pushing said enemies into his lane buddies poking range. When the enemy is properly and fatally pushed out of position, Khai can go in with a "Aquaform" (E) and "From the Deep" (W) combo, knocking them up and allowing the Marksman to get some free hits on them. If Khai is level 6, he can make this engage even more efficient by directly activating his ultimate "Pull of the Abyss", making an escape by the enemy almost impossible. When being engaged by an enemy gank, Khai's playmaking abilities will just as easily function as disengages, pushing enemies away from him and his allies, allowing for a swift escape. When playing against a Khai support, you'd do well to bring your own cc, because a good defence is a good offence when fighting this forceful torrent. Preventing Khai from going in is a good way to keep succesful engages from his side at bay. Another way is to focus damage on the Marksman. Khai does not have any shielding or healing capabilities, leaving the enemy Marksman very vulnerable to poke. Without a dependable damage output, Khai's engages will become much less frightening.
##Flooding the Top-lane:## Top-lane will be very hard on Khai. His damage output is nigh to non-existant, making getting kills without help from the Jungler VERY hard. Although Khai can push his enemy away from his farm, allowing him to get the upper hand that way, getting good and frequent ganks will be a must for him. If he does, he will be able to go in similarly to how he would in a support role, holding the enemy whithin range of the Jungler's damage long enough for them to pick up the kill. Do not expect to go 20/0 however...
##Meandering through the Jungle:## Jungle Khai will be any solo-laner's wet-dream (pun intended). With his superior engaging ability and cc heavy kit, Khai will be able to spoon feed his allies to victory. When caught alone and unawares however, Khai will not be able to do a lot. Again his little damage output will weight heavy on him, making him vulnerable to counter jungling.

The seas around the Blue Flame Islands are dangerous waters. There are pirates, the Black Mist, any manner of sea monster...But there is one being that is a danger to all...A being originating from the deepest of depths, a spirit of the sea who is older then time itself... He is known under many names: “The demon of the abyss”or “The dark current” but the most renown mentioning of him is as “Khai, The Abyssal Torrent” the very personification of the destructive sea and the unknown that lies in the darkest corners of it’s depths. Many islanders believe Khai to be one of their kraken god's many nemeses. Where Nagakabouros oversees the flow and motion of life and the universe, Khai wants nothing more then to cause stagnation and death. He does not have any other motive other then his unending greed for the life essence of his victims. With gigantic maelstroms that swallow any unweary sailer, Khai has dragged many to an early (and watery) grave. Only those favored by Nagakabouros can stand up to the creature, for they are in motion and can withstand his pull. Many young islanders have dared to brave his domain, to prove their worth to their kraken god, but very few ever return. Those that do survive, often barely, are said to be destined to bring big changes to the world.
##Lone survivor:##
The sun shimmered in the captains eye as he walked along the port side of the Gillyhowl. He smiled as he ran his fingers over the wooden rails. It wasn’t a big ship, hardly a competitor to the big pirate vessels under Gangplanks command, but it was his. He held his hand above his eyes as he looked out over sea. Nothing but calm waves and distant islands was to be seen. 'Surely this was the life' He thought to himself. At least it was the life he always dreamed to have...To sail the vast seas, to live the life of a free man... A life he would never have had back in Demacia. With all the rules and the formalities...No he was glad to be rid of it all. He had not noticed how one of his crew-members had come up to him and tried to get his attention. “Capt’n? Sir, the crew, we are worried.” He turned his attention to the man with the scraggy beard that usually did the steering for him. “Worried? About what? There’s hardly a cloud in the sky and we are all filled to the brim with provisions...” “No it ain’t the weather Sir, or the food. It’s the gulls...” He took a second to look around. “What gulls? There are no gulls.” “That’d be the thing Sir. We are not that far from shore, but there are no seagulls singing. Back in Bilgewater we call that a bad omen. I wouldn’t think you’d understand sir, but it’s a bad day to set out for open sea.” He rolled his eyes. Just some local superstition. “Nonsense my friend. I have studied naval command at the best academies Demacia has to offer and never have I found any reason to believe that the absence of seagulls is any measure for concern. Now go back to the helm, before we run off course.” The man did not seem convinced, but turned around anyway. He saw how a few other crew-members had watched the exchange. “There is really nothing to worry about...” The captain added with a smile. He turned on his heels and made way to the bow of the ship. There he let the sea breeze blow in his face. Yes, this was truly the life. A sudden shudder went through the ship that almost made him fall overboard. He looked over the rail to see if they had maybe run upon a sandbank, but there was nothing underneath but water. He turned around and saw how his crew exchanged alarmed glances. He frowned and ran over to the upper deck to check on his helmsman. “Is everything all right?” the man had gone a bit pale and his eyes were darting from one side of the ship, to the other. “Sir, please, this is a bad idea, this is Khai’s domain, we shoul-” “Gods be damned man...I said nonsense!” The captain sounded angry now. “It’s nothing more then superstition. I do not mean to be disrespectful of your customs, but this whole seagull thing is a steaming pile of Porocra-” Another, heavier shudder went through the ship and threw the captain face forward onto the deck. Suddenly all the men around him were shouting and from out at sea a low, rumbling laugh was heard. With open eyes he watched as a gigantic figure made purely out of seawater rose up from between the waves and blocked out the sun. “ALL OF YOU WILL DROWN...”The low voice hummed. A huge watery claw was raised and came crashing down upon the ship, washing aside any crew members that had stood there dumbfounded and breaking the mast in two. The captain too, could not believe what he saw. Loud cracking was heard as spouts of water erupted from in the middle of the ship. The monstrous being moved closer to the ship and grabbed it on either side. With seemingly no effort, the watery demon lifted the ship from the sea. The crew was starting to jump overboard now, screaming for their maternal figures. The captain however, was still on board and stared straight into the hollow eyes of the monster. With a loud crack, the ship split in two and he was thrown off his feet again, this time plummeting several meters down into the water, at the foot of the monster. He saw how many of his crew had started to swim away from the monster. Again it laughed. “DO NOT BOTHER. NOTHING ESCAPES THE PULL OF THE ABYSS!! NAGAKABOROUS WONT SAVE YOU NOW!!!”It boomed and as it said so, its torso raised up higher then ever. Slowly but surely, the water around the being started to churn and twist, eventually forming a maelstrom around it. The captain did his best to stay afloat, clamping onto a piece of the ship that had fallen into the water near him. He watched how one by one the waves swallowed up his crew who never resurfaced. A sudden splash brought him back to his senses as he saw the huge claw of the monster trudging through the waves towards him. He readied himself by holding on tight to the piece of wood, and with the piece, he got thrown through the air, out of the maelstroms reach. Beaten and bloodied, hardly able to breathe, he drifted into the port of Bilgewater a few days later...
#Quotes:# Is not the most important part of the concept but still one of my favorite parts ^^ Will be added upon over time. Suggestions are always welcome.
