##Abilities (Note: No numbers for damage, cooldown, etc. have been added in yet. This is an overview of the kit first to see what feedback will be like then numbers will be added in later. Also I will try to make changes to abilities if necessary so feedback would be highly appreciated)
Passive - Ulric gains fury when he is attacked or when he attacks or kills an enemy unit, doubled for enemy champions/epic monsters. If his fury is full he will gain a small bonus to damage. As well, he will gain bonus damage based on his missing health. When his health drops to or below 50% he will gain bonus attack speed (amount dependent on level) and if his health drops to or below 30% he will gain % reduction to all damage to him based on how much fury he currently has and all fury generation is doubled.(Damage reduction will not stop true damage)
Also his basic auto attacks can cleave nearby enemy units in an arc in front of him. The primary target will take full damage while targets hit by the cleave will take a % of that damage instead (Crits will act similar. Main target will still take it as normal but cleaved targets will take reduced crit damage, similar to Yasuo's passive). The range will also increase depending on his level. At lvl 1 the cleave will be limited to his basic auto attack range, while perhaps at max lvl his range may be around titanic hydra's, possibly a little short ranged then that. _(I'm considering about removing this part of the passive depending on feedback) _
Q - Ulric slams his weapon down sending a shockwave in target direction that tears open the ground, damaging all enemies in its path. This ability may be cast anytime you are charging. If so, at the end of the charge you will instead release a small AoE shockwave around you.
W - Ulric charges in target direction, dealing damage to all enemies he hits. Minons/non-epic monsters hit will be knocked aside while enemy champions will be briefly knocked back and stunned for a short duration. (Think about Dota 2 Spirit Breaker's Charge for the knockback effect or Vi's Q)
E - Ulric strikes out at all enemies around him, dealing damage to them and adding a stack of rend on them. Each stack on the target causes them to bleed, taking damage over time for X seconds. Also enemy champions with more then one stack will have certain effects applied to them as well, depending on how many stacks they have on them:
- One rend stack
- Two rend stacks, minor slow
- Three rend stacks, heavier slow
- Four rend stacks (max.), heaviest slow, any additional casts of E on target will deal bonus damage
Passive - Ulric's E works on a charge system, similar to Rumble's E. It has a maximum number of charges it can hold but the max can be increased with each rank put into it. You gain a charge every X seconds, with CR reducing the time to gain one charge. As well hitting an enemy champion with the ability will decrease the current charge time by X seconds for each enemy champion hit (So hitting one champion would reduce it by X while hitting 3 champions would decrease it by 3x X. However I will add that you can only hit a champion or number of champions so many times before their is a short cooldown to which hitting champions with your E will not reduce the charge time. Regular charging will precede as normal though.)
R - Passive - Every time Ulric kills a minion or non-epic monster he will regain a small amount of his health back equal to a % of his max health (slightly higher for cannon minions, siege minions and red/blue buff). If he kills or assists in the kill of an enemy champion or epic monster he will instead gain a base amount + % of his missing health (slightly less amount if it was an assist).
Active - Ulric becomes enraged for X seconds, increasing the damage of his auto attacks by % amount but will also increase the amount of damage he recieves by another % amount. He will also gain a % increase to movement speed and the following abilities are empowered:
-
Q - Now after a short delay flames will erupt from the tear in the ground for X seconds, dealing damage to all enemies that stand or pass through it as well as reduce their armor for X seconds.
-
W - Charge range is increased, enemy champions you hit are now dragged along with you to the end of the charge, stun is slightly increased, and if you hit at least one enemy champion you gain a shield equal to a base value + % of your bonus health for each champion hit for X seconds.
-
E - Now you gain bonus movement speed towards enemy champions, increased by how many champions with stacks their are close by and how many stacks are on an enemy champion, up to a cap (so if the cap was 15% and each stack gave 5% and if their were four enemy champions with one stack on them, you would gain 15% bonus ms). As well, if an enemy champion receives 4 stacks on them a very small % of the bleed damage they take will be applied as pure damage instead. (NOTE: This last part is to see how feedback is. If people freak out about it I'll possibly change it to true damage to make it a little more fair)
##Lore
The origins of Ulric are a mystery to many. Some say he's no more then a brute, prone to violence and who recently has started charging for his services. Some claim he was a long forgotten hero, disgraced for a crime he never committed and now seeks revenge. Other even claim that he's actually a demon, born out of the voilent and hatred nature of man and made incarnate to walk their world as one of them. These, however, are just what they are: made-up stories. There are a few, however, who really know who Ulric is and what made him as he is today.
Ulric lived his very early years in a village within the Ironspike mountains, pretty much secluded from the rest of the world. He lived with the village blacksmith who had taken him in. Apparently the blacksmith found Ulric one night during a blizzard as he was returning to the village from a long trip for supplies. He found him, an infant only a few days old, within the lifeless arms of his mother, to what he could tell had actually died just moments before he found them. However the rest of the village despised Ulric. They continually outcasted him, treating him like an omen upon their village. Even with the blacksmith caring for him, Ulric felt alone within the world. One day though as he was out hunting he came across Shyvana. The two were very nervous meeting each other at first but after a while they both eased up and quickly started to become friends. For a few years they met up and both were more happy then they ever could be in their lives. Then one day when Ulric was to met with her she simply disappeared. With nothing left he returned to the village only to find it crumbling to ash and cinders. The remaining villagers found him, saying that he finally brought ruin to their home by somehow bringing forth a dragon to kill them. Ulric denied this but the villagers started to attack him nevertheless. As he was being attacked, something caused him to enter a blurry state and when he came out of it he found that the remaining villagers had been visciously slaughtered and he was covered head to toe in blood. Frightened, confused and no other place to go he set out into the mountains as the night drew across the sky.
For a long time he wandered in the mountains, soon finding himself within the Freljord. While wandering he got caught within a very fierce blizzard, one that lasted many days. With being stranded in it, very little to take shelter in, no food, no heat, and lack of sleep he soon fell over in the snow, on the brink of death while the harsh storm of the frozen north beat down upon him. However, he quickly saw a dark silhouette of a man coming towards him before he blacked out. When he awoke, he found himself within a stone fortress with a massive barbarian standing over him. The barbarian told him that he had just saved him from freezing to death. He was also told that he knew Ulric's mother. Apparently she was part of this barbarian's tribe which somewhat followed a strict set of traditions. However she broke many of these traditions by falling in love with an outsider, a Noxian as the man recalled. Later as she gave birth to him, their relationship was discovered. The Noxian was killed off and his mother was to meet the same fate but managed to escape. After telling him this, he told him that he was the chief of the tribe and gave him an choice: go back out into the world alone or stay with them for a while and learn their ways. With little choice, he accepted.
For many years then he learned about the tribes ways, especially their power to fight. From what he was taught, their power goes back long ago when a figure came up to their tribe. He offered them a chance to take a small portion of his power for their own in exchange for having them as their leader. They accepted and so he granted his blood to them. When they drank it, they then entered a rage that caused them to become more powerful then they've ever been before. However this wasn't meant to last, for as the Watchers rose they overthrew this being and the rest of the tribe had gone into hiding, making the world think that they've disappeared. Over the years though the blood that they drank soon became part of them and in time they learned to control it, as so did Ulric.
While he may have been accepted into the tribe and was technically of their blood, many still looked down on him, like the villagers before, as a disgrace from being born of his treacherous mother, especially a rival clansmen of Ulric. Soon, however, there came the time of the Trials, almost like a mini Olympics or medieval tournament. Ulric entered and climbed his way to the final event: a one on one duel to which his opponent was his rival. The two fought viciously but in the end Ulric was victorious. As he was being named the champion for the games, his rival and many other clan members that followed him cried out that this was a disgrace to their tribe and thus they started slaughtering everyone, including the chief. Ulric engaged on his rival and the two fought once again. Soon, however, he noticed that most of the tribesmen that supported him had been cut down and he knew he would be overwhelmed. With that in mind he critically injured his rival, carved his way out of the place he once called home and disappeared within a snowstorm that had begun.
After this grave incident, he decided to travel to Noxus to find out more of who his father and his country was like. After a few weeks, he finally arrived at the city and at first glance it didn't seem that bad. It quickly changed as he soon started to see the foul nature and corruption of the government within it. It eventually got to the point where he had wished he didn't know his father was from here, nor did he want to believe that he was technically one of them. He did, however, need to get a better understanding of what the whole world was really like. With little options left he joined up with their military, under a false name however. For six years he served under the Noxus banner and during that time he had truly seen how far the corruption of Noxus has gotten and how cruel they're willing to go.
Finally, after serving his minimal six years to the military, he left. Still needing a way of living, he decided to put his skills to use as anything that called for a sword for money (mercenary, monster hunter, bodyguard, assassin, etc) and still lives on like that. Thus during his travels he has created many tales of himself from his deeds. Some showing his greatness, others his ruthlessness. But one thing is for certain: no one ever really knows were he's wandering right now or what the future lies for him.
##Personality
Ulric has a fairly complex but also interesting personality. Most of it, however, is very similar to that of Geralt from the Witcher series, that being his is apathetic, cynical, and disdain of many people, especially to nobles and or rulers. He also appears very cold hearted, and ruthless to those who appear malevolent. As well he doesn't like it when people try to order him around as if he were a slave or some dog, nor does he liked being provoked. It usually ends with him getting extremely furious at them and sometimes getting violent and/or messy. He, by nature and his past, is an outcast but has somewhat come to terms in accepting that. As well, he is known to have a very large kill streak, somewhat making him all the more threatening.
With that said, he isn't completely like this. Over his travels as a sellsword I feel he would come across some people he would deem as friends and thry know more about his personality then most people do. Though I said he's apathetic he will sometimes show concern of others if they're in dire need of help. He is also known to be very kind hearted, caring, and is a very loyal friend to those he cares about. As well, he also has pretty good sense of humor, somewhat along the lines of Varric & Iron Bull from Dragon Age and even a little bit of sarcasm like Baird from Gears of War, but has a very dark sense of humor as well. Ulric is also pragmatic, not ever really buying into very inner spirit crap that the Ionians focus on so much.
Author's Notes and a Little Development History
So at the very start I always wanted another berserker-type champion in League. I know there is Tryndamere and Olaf but I just have issues with them. Tryndamere right now is somewhat weak in many terms and at the same time isn't that interesting to play as, nor is he fun to play against. All you ever really play as/against him is he either constantly split pushes, you chase after him, he bitches out with his long ass e, or he you find each other and when your about to die/kill him he just ults can't die and he kills you or he can't and bitches out again with his e. It's just not fun. Olaf is a little bit better, especially with the berserker theme, but again he's just not in a good spot for me. He's rather reliant on his Q for being his damage and is only rather good as duelist if you want to get the best out of his passive. He's not terrible but he doesn't really fit for what I want. What I really wanted what a champion that can go in like these two, be a fairly bit tanky, but still manage to do some damage to the whole enemy team, rather then just focus one person down and move on to the next.
So I tried making my very first draft which to now was about a year ago and posted it. That failed. But I didn't want to give up on the idea of this so I began working on another way to make it better. I spent months on it and then I posted another draft of it. That also failed but not as bad as the first one. So finally I just decided to get more reference, had to scrap some abilities that I really wanted to see on this character and now we are here. So here is hoping that third time is the charm!
Also for those who are wondering or care, inspiration for Ulric's kit came from Axe, Sven, Magnus, and Spirit Breaker from Dota 2, the Reaver class from Dragon Age, and the Barbarian from Diablo 3. His personaility was heavily inspiried by Geralt from the Witcher, Varric, Iron Bull, & Oghren from Dragon Age, and a bit of Bronn from Game of Thrones. As well the part of his backstory with him being friends with Shyvana came from two things. One, I'm pretty much a Shyvana main; Two, I had discovered this small fan comic about her that I thought was really well done and I just wanted to incorporate something similar to it into a character's story somehow. Link to the first page for those curious about it here.
Appearance and Reference Pictures
(Don't worry this the last part you really have to read through. Just hold out a little longer)
Ulric appears as a taller then most men, almost 6'4-6'5. His has rather short hair along with a medium-long stubble. He also bears many scars across his face, one which is that of almost a bear clawed at the left side of his head and took off a small top portion of his ear. He also bears one going from the top of his left eye down across to the right of his face, another few being near his jaw line and being quite noticeable since his stubble doesn't grow over them. He's also has a fairly fit body and his skin is almost a pale white (which really causes lots of sunburn to him whenever he stays outside too long in the Shurima area). The armor that he wears is actually unsual. It's a mix of pieces of armor from Demacian, Noxian and even some pieces of his own. Also his armor is unlike most other like Darius' or Jarvan's. His armor revolves more around having leather and chainmail, if not scalemail, for most and only having heavy plate around the areas like lower legs, shoulders, thighs, and lower arms. This way he can a little more mobility then most other soldier have as well as not having a lot of equipment lugging on him all day and wearing him out too quickly. His weapon would either be that of a two-handed axe or sword, again borrowing ideas or designs from both Demacia and Noxus to forge his own weapon.
Below are just some reference pictures to show what caused more inspiration for this character as well as help picture what his appearance may be:

And that's the end finally. Thank you to all who have made it this far. It you just have straight up hate for this, then please just leave. However, if you enjoyed it please vote up and if you have any questions, comments, or constructive criticism please leave them down below. Again, there aren't any numbers yet on the abilities until I start getting feedback so if you have any it would be highly appreciated because I really want to try and get this concept to work and approved. Also if you want feel free to check out some of my other concepts below. Thank you all for reading and have a lovely day/night.
