@KateyKhaos: concerning skins and the 4th of july
Way back when, when league was just an american game, we got fun goofy skins on the 4th of july with patriotic themes. But in recent years, that has not been so. Instead, we get skins to celebrate chinese new year, and even the Christmas seasonal skins have become more 'winter' themed instead of holiday themed as of late.
Could you please explain to us why this is so? I understand the "must appeal to our super vast and large international audience" but there are dozens of MMORPG's from japan and korea that get promotional events tailored to their culture, then either imported as is to the other nations, or altered slightly by each individual branch to as to avoid small cultural complications.
But honestly, what is wrong with an American made game creating content to celebrate the birth of the nation it was created in? Skins don't need an in-game event to exist, and all skins are understood to be non-cannon unless specifically stated to be cannon. If the reason is just "not everyone celebrates the 4th of july" then why are chinese new year skins made? Not everyone celebrates chinese new year (I know I don't) That doesn't mean I dislike the really cool chinese themed skins. If that's the case, then couldn't the foreign audience have a similar opinion? "Oh, look! A really cool American themed skin!"
