Idea For Xin Zhao VU + Lore
Born in Ionia, Xin Zhao is a man of sixty who was emancipated from slavery forty years ago by Demacian King Jarvan II, and has since then served the Demacian royal family for three generations.
Kidnapped by a Noxian privateer as a boy, he was taken as a slave and through various circumstances, was eventually forced into gladiatorial combat. He became known as Viscero, establishing himself as a ruthless combatant with an indomitable will to survive. When he turned one-and-twenty, he received an unexpected guest, who spoke to him of ideals like freedom and choice. Later, a surgical strike from Demacia shook Noxus and in the chaos, the stranger returned to liberate the arena’s combatants, and revealed himself to be Jarvan II, the King of Demacia. Viscero was astonished that a king would risk his life on his behalf and during the retreat, took a crossbow bolt meant for Jarvan. This act of loyalty, from a man who swore no allegiance, earned Jarvan’s respect.
After he recovered, Viscero was taken by Jarvan back to Ionia, the king believing that after a lifetime’s enslavement, he would want to return home. But the gladiator deemed that Ionia was not a land he could call home; he had no fond memories of it, having been whisked away so early in his life, and believed himself incapable of finding inner peace after all that he had done. Jarvan II extended an offer then: Viscero could join him in Demacia, to free those still in-chains and to punish those who enslaved him. Viscero accepted the offer, marking the beginning of his new life with a new name, one not borne of blood: Xin Zhao.
Xin Zhao and Jarvan became steadfast friends, and while Xin was not eligible for lordship or even knighthood, the reformed gladiator served the Demacian king nonetheless, staying at his side and even tutoring the prince, Jarvan III, in unorthodox combat styles and how to counter them, pulling from his time spent in the pits.
Now having trained the likes of current king Jarvan III, the crown prince Jarvan IV, and other noble children accepted as wards under the royal family, such as Garen Crownguard, Xin Zhao is one of the most influential people in Demacia.
