Were these found in the client files? How long ago were they there? They look amazing.

No, these will not be included in the game, as they were made by users, not Riot. If Riot were to use these without the authors' permission, it would be considered a form of copyright infringement. You can find them on Leaguecraft and install them from there.

Hold your horses there mate. First off, if the problem is that they were made by people not employed by artists, there is no problem. Because I would think that if a company asked an artist if they could use their fanart, the artist would say yes please.

Plus, these ability icons were revealed with a few others. The others included the new Rammus, Katarina, and Twisted Fate ability icons.

Riot has stated repeatedly they will not use user created content. There are way too many issues with using someone else's intellectual property from a legal perspective.

Except that there is a specific note in the forum terms and conditions that anything posted here can be claimed and legally used by Riot at their whim. So if they really wanted to, they could do whatever the fuck they wanted with them.

That's not how art works bub.

First, you can't just "ask nicely for it", since there are actual laws about how content created by an independent individual can be used by a company.

Second, if the artist/artists who made those have any sort of brain in their skull, they won't just say "Yes please use it!" because art takes time and resources. They would charge a fee. Nobody would think "Hmm, I wonder where Riot got these new ability icons, I should go buy stuff from that artist." they think "Huh, that looks nice, it's about time they updated it." and then move on without a second thought. ART ISN'T FREE.

They were created by a Riot artist, and the source of these particular icons also featured icons that were eventually used by Rammus (as well as icons for Zed , Katarina, Twisted and others that were already in game when the artist's iconsheet was released/leaked).

Even if the artist wasn't an employee when he drew them (e.g. they were a portfolio piece), Riot's apparently had no issue using them.

I agree, since the resources can be used by RIOT without any legal issues I think they should replace the icons. There should not be too much work involved.
