[Day 4/20 Character Creation] Obscurus, the Void Parasite
Short Bio:
Obscurus is a slime-like parasite from the Void. It does not know much about its own history but has one objective instilled into its every being; to infiltrate the Summoner’s Rift. Obscurus lived its life jumping from host to host, realizing that it became more sentient every time it did. It was not long before Obscurus was able to join the Summoner’s Rift and hopes to find more about itself. (Ties with Zac. Most likely was a part of Zac before being tainted by a creature of the Void).
Goal:
Introduce a new mechanic of latching oneself onto another. This new mechanic should allow players to experience more interaction between other players and reward good decision making. Obscurus will fit the role of a mage support while having the option to go mid as well.
Champion Name: Obscurus, the Void Parasite
Kit:
Role: Support Mage/Mid
Basic Attack: Ranged, Void balls? (Can only be used when on original Host)
Extra info:
Health is shared between Obscurus and its original host. The host loses all function without Obscurus. (If enemy jumps on the host body and kills it, Obscurus dies as well). Obscurus is mana-less and uses the Corruption bar for its abilities when on Enemy champions. Obscurus cannot basic attack when latched onto an ally or enemy.
Passive: Parasitic/Symbiotic Corruption
Time spent on its original host slowly fills the Corruption bar.
Time spent leeching on an Ally champion greatly increases the generation of the Corruption bar. Ally champions also deal bonus magic damage with their basic attacks; ally no longer deals bonus damage if too far from Host.
Time spent leeching on an Enemy champion consumes the Corruption bar. The affected enemy champion gains stacks of Corruption every second Obscurus is attached.
Corruption: Stacks up to 10 times. Each stack lowers damage output by a small amount. At 10 stacks, Obscurus’s Corruption bar consumes all the stacks to fill itself up. Stacks of Corruption do not disappear until affected Enemy champion returns to the fountain.
Q: Stretching Slam/Stretching Grasp (Consumes the Corruption bar when on Enemy)
While on Ally/Host: Obscurus creates an arm-like appendage from its main body and slaps the ground in front of it. The slap deals damage and will slow all caught on the very end of it.
While on Enemy: Obscurus creates an arm-like appendage that will grab an area of the ground or another Enemy champion near the affected Enemy. This will limit the Enemy’s movement to a small range encompassing the area Obscurus is grabbing. The Enemy champion can move away from the area but will be slowed the further the champion travels away from it as the appendage continues to stretch until it cannot stretch anymore and returns to Obscurus. (The affected Enemy champion will not be slowed if Obscurus grabs onto an Enemy champion and the said champion moves with the affected Enemy champion).
W: Latch
Ally: Obscurus can jump on an ally by directly targeting said champion. When latched onto an ally, Obscurus must be in range of its original body to generate Corruption; leaving the range causes the generation to stop. Death and Hard CC on latched ally sends Obscurus back to its original body. Cooldown of Latch is reset when latching onto Ally champions.
Enemy: Obscurus lunges forward very quickly in a straight line dealing damage to all enemy minions/monsters in its way. Landing on an enemy champion will stop its lunge and Obscurus will latch onto the champion. Obscurus will root latched enemy for a very short time upon landing. Obscurus will be sent back to its original host if the host is CC’ed or if Obscurus’s Corruption bar is 0. Cooldown of Latch is halved when latching onto Enemy champions.
Reactivation while on an Enemy champion and not targeting an Ally champion will send Obscurus back to its host. This puts Latch on its full cooldown.
If Obscurus does not make contact with any Champion by the end of its lunge, Obscurus will immediately jump back to its Host, losing half of its current Corruption bar.
E: Elastic Shield/[Help with name pls] (Consumes Corruption bar when on Enemy champion)
While on Ally/Host: Obscurus creates a bubble-like shield using its slime-like body that can bounce back projectiles (basic attacks not included) granted that the shield is stronger than the damage the projectile does. If the projectile is stronger, the shield acts as a regular shield. All basic attacks can shave off the shield. (The shield should never be strong enough to bounce back ultimates, this is more for things such as Ezreal Q, etc.)
While on Enemy: Obscurus creates a bubble around the enemy’s weapon thus successfully disarming the champion for a short duration. (Disarm = cannot basic attack).
R: [Need Help with name for both] (Consumes Corruption bar when on Enemy Champion)
Cannot be cast while on original Host.
On Ally: Obscurus immediately sends out multiple appendages all around its Ally and pushes away all enemies, dealing magic damage and slowing all affected. Enemies that are pushed against a wall are stunned.
On Enemy: Obscurus channels for a short duration and sends out 3/4/5 appendages that reach out and grab the first Enemy champion it touches. The grabbed Enemy champion is dealt damage and is rooted for a duration before being knocked back a short distance towards the affected Enemy champion.
Ideas behind the Kit:
Reward players for paying attention to many things at once: corruption bar, corruption stacks, range between ally and host, when to Latch, when to ult, who to ult, etc. Obscurus has to choose its battles very carefully especially in lane. As a support, Obscurus will most likely be a jump-in burst as it loses too much pressure if it continuously uses latch on its enemy. Obscurus will have lots of gank assist as long as there is a 3rd party assisting in it. Obscurus’s abilities will share cooldowns between its ally/enemy counterparts so players must choose wisely.
With Obscurus, my 4th champion is done and I will be back tomorrow for the last one of the week. I feel like I had a little trouble rounding out this champion and realized my naming sense is terrible. As always, thanks for taking time to read this and don't forget to leave a comment!
