[Champion]Kalevi, the Kid Hero
FYI: This is my first time writing a story/background or anything creative in general. The background is just to help (me) set a theme for Kalevi and her skills. I tried to keep balance of her kit in mind while introducing a new mechanic into the game. I also tried to stay away from numbers unless it helped paint a better picture of how the ability worked. Let me know what you think of her and help me think of a name for Name1.1, which is her stacking passive.
Champion Name: Kalevi, the Kid Hero
Background:
Kalevi is of Shuriman descent but currently resides in the ghettos of Piltover. Much like the other children living in this area of Piltover, Kalevi is an orphan. Before ending up in Piltover, Kalevi lived in a group of nomads who roamed the deserts of Shurima following their herd of camels. Although the nomads did not carry anything of monetary value, the camels were highly sought after and thus the nomads were consistent targets of bandits. The nomads were able to successfully thwart the attempts of many bandits until one day when the nomads ended up in the crossfire between two groups fighting over an ancient Shurima temple. The battle had been going on for a couple weeks before the nomads made contact and the battle-worn groups had begun to run low on supplies. A raid on the nomads ensued and this time, the nomads were no match against the firepower and number. The raid led by Cassiopeia and Noxian forces ignored the surrender of supplies and goods from the nomads and killed off all the men and women, leaving behind only children. The Noxian group took in the children to either be sold off or trained to be future soldiers. The news of what had happened quickly reached the ears of the opposing group. This group was made up of mercenaries who were hired to protect the ancient lands of Shurima. Within this group was an explorer by the name of Ezreal, who convinced a small number of mercenaries to conduct a rescue of the captured children. The group, led by Ezreal, was unfortunately discovered early and could not rescue any children but one. Kalevi felt both blessed and cursed for she was the only one who was rescued. She felt gratitude towards her rescuers but could not help but feel contempt as well. Why did they come to rescue when they could only save one? Why was she the only one who was saved? What will happen to the others? Why was she so helpless in this situation? These questions plagued her mind as she was transported to the city of Piltover. Kalevi was admitted into an orphanage where she spent most of her time secluded from the others. She spent this time educating and training herself as she swore to become a hero strong enough to save and protect everyone in need. She often ventured outside of Piltover to a nearby forest, where she knew she would be alone. In her time of solitude, he quickly realized that power and knowledge did not come easily. She found herself questioning her resolve and came to face her shortcomings. It was during her time of vulnerability when she was approached by a mysterious entity. It did not take a human form but something she had never seen before. It reached out and spoke to her, enticing her with sweet words of unfathomable power. At first she rejected but as the days went on, she came more and more to terms with her limit as a child. Kalevi eventually succumbed to the allure of the mysterious figure and accepted the power. She was handed a tiny stone which quickly took the form of a tiny badge which she would call, the Hero’s Badge. As soon as she was given the stone, the mysterious entity vanished without any explanation. Kalevi found herself frustrated as she could not called upon the power of this badge for herself. Yet no matter where or how she tried to rid herself of this badge, the badge always found its way mysteriously back to her. To be continued..(I'll finish it up next edit)
Kalevi's Kit:
Passive - The Hero’s Call :
Every successful last hit on a minion, jungle monster, every successful auto-attack/ability on an enemy champion and damage done to Kalevi by an enemy champion help fill the Hero bar (aka Rage bar). Once maxed, Kalevi instantly gains a small shield based on max health and a short speed boost; this happens only once per 60/45/30 seconds. Kalevi gains the same shield and speed boost immediately after transforming. The bar decays once Kalevi is outside of battle.
Kalevi gains a stack of Name1.1 every time an ally dies. Each stack of Name1.1 permanently grants armor and magic resist. Name1.1 grants less and less the more your teammates die.
Q - Heroic Blast : (Kid form)
Kalevi punches in a direction with such strength, the punch creates a sonic boom that causes damage beyond the point of initial impact.
Heroic Smash is a straight line skill shot that shoots out a secondary cone if it makes contact with a minion, monster, champion, building or terrain; does not deal damage to buildings/terrain.
The blast disperses if it reaches max length without hitting anything.
Q - Heroic Blast : (Hero form)
Knocks back the first minion/monster/champion hit and slows those hit by the cone.
When making contact with terrain, Kalevi temporarily destroys the area of the terrain hit by Heroic Blast allowing passage. The terrain hit must be “dashable” for it to be destroyed.
Still does not deal damage to buildings/terrain and disperses after reaching max length without hitting anything.
W - Hero’s Oath : (Kid Form)
Kalevi throws her Hero’s badge a short distance that creates a small zone.
Allies inside gain a small amount of increased health regeneration while Kalevi gains a recharging shield as long as the zone is still up.
The zone only lasts a short time but gains extra time for every unique ally champion that enters it.
Zone breaks instantly when an enemy champion enters it.
The badge returns to Kalevi once the zone breaks/disappears. (Cooldown does not start until the badge is back with Kalevi).
W - Hero’s Pledge : (Hero Form)
Kalevi creates a small field around herself that grounds all enemy champions.
E - Just in Time : (Kid Form)
Kalevi jumps in to save the day. Targeting an equal or higher % health ally, ally minion or ward allows Kalevi to jump to her target.
Kalevi moves at super high speed and throws her ally backwards to safety. This puts a strain on Kalevi as she is in her kid form. Targeting a lower % health ally swaps the position of both and roots Kalevi in place after the swap.
E - Heroic Smash : (Hero Form)
Kalevi slams the ground causing the damage to break into uneven terrain.
Slam initially damages and slows all surrounding enemies. The terrain then collapses towards the center, pushing all enemies a tiny distance towards it.
R - Answering the Call : (Kid form)
Upon putting the first point into Answering the Call, Kalevi can overcharge her Hero bar; normal charge = red, overcharge = yellow. The "overcharge" fills up much faster and adds extra time to her Hero form. (Both bars will count towards the duration of her Hero form).
Kalevi can now transform into her Hero form if at least the first bar is filled.
Passive : If the 2nd bar is maxed before Answering the Call is activated, Kalevi is forced into her Hero form. When forced into Hero form, Kalevi instantly knocks back all enemies around her a short distance.
Active : Kalevi instantly transforms into Hero form and will deal increased damage for the duration of her 2nd bar. Cannot activate once the overcharge bar fills up past 50%.
R - Answering the Call : (Hero form)
Passive : While in this form, Kalevi gains bonus Health. Kalevi also gains additional attack damage for the duration of her overcharged bar.
Passive : Kalevi’s stacks of Name1.1 multiplies for every currently dead ally. (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x).
Idea behind her Kit :
I would like to think of her as a top lane tank who gets tankier the more the team fights and can really turn around fights. Her kit should attract summoners who are not mechanically gifted and keep their interest as she has many fun mechanics that let the summoners interact with their environment. Additionally, her kit will really empower those who put in the time to master her. I personally would like to give the summoner the opportunity to build to their play style however the most optimal build I have in mind is a 1 damage item + full tank build. A problem someone might have with her kit is the fear that she can build full tank and still be able to essentially kill carries without any counterplay. To combat this, Kalevi does not have any % health damage in her kit and cc only in her Hero form; not to mention the absence of a "real" ultimate. Her kid form is to help her safely lane as she will be squishy with no real escapes and she will need lvl 6 or her jungler to have any kill pressure in lane. Outside of lane, her Hero form will be key as her Kid form will offer next to nothing in a team fight. Setting up the Hero bar along with combo-ing Kalevi's Kid form abilities with her Hero form will really set apart the great Kalevi players from the good Kalevi players. I believe tanks are a bit too one dimensional and need more to do than press R and smash buttons while running into the enemy team.
/s...not really.Basically, as a tank, Kalevi should look to keep her back line safe and enemies cc'ed while she takes the brunt of the damage.
