[Day 2/20 : Character Creation] Kari of the Frost

Short Bio:

Nomad from the Freljord region. Has no real ties with any of the factions as he would rather spend this time in peace with the snow/cold. Decided to make his way to the Summoner's Rift as the war between the factions have started to take toll on the land.

Goal:

To introduce a support champion who truly shines when given time to set up and kite back towards favorable positions. Although Kari lacks a reliable hard CC until he hits 6, he can effectively zone and potentially control the movements of enemy champions. Kari is to be a zoning, and control support.

Champion Name: Kari of the Frost

Kit:

Basic Attack: Ranged, throws icicles

Passive: Chilling Cold

Abilities and basic attacks leave a charge of Frost, stacking up to 3. Ally champions' basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and slows on targets with Frost. Enemies already slowed by Frost or a champion of Freljord consume a stack with their basic attacks and instead deal %health damage as bonus magic damage. Kari cannot consume these charges himself.

Q: Glacial Fissure

First Active: Kari opens up a small opening (similar to Vel W) of ice on the ground in a straight line in front of him. This deals magic damage and slows all enemies on top as long as they are on top of it. This lasts for a short duration on the map before melting away. Kari can only have a certain amount of fissures on the map at a time.

Second Active: Ice spikes shoots up from the fissure, pushing all enemies and allies outward. The spikes stay up for a very short duration before melting away. Enemies that dash/jump through the spikes are dealt damage and slowed heavily. Summoner must have mouse hovered over a existing fissure to use the second active.

W: Frost Armor

Passive: Every stack of Frost consumed by an ally heals Kari and the ally for a small amount.

Active: Kari imbues an ally champion with Frost Armor, granting the said champion Kari's passive, Chilling Cold; as a result, this ally will not be able to consume any Frost stacks. Frost Armor also stacks Frost on enemies who basic attack this ally champion. Frost Armor grants the ally champion a shield that activates once Frost Armor's duration is over. The shield will scale and continue to grow during the duration of Frost Armor based on the stacks of Frost this ally applies. The shield lasts a very short duration before rapidly decaying.

Selfcast Active: Kari imbues himself with Frost Armor that stacks Frost on any enemy champion that basic attacks Kari. This Armor also gives Kari the ability to slow enemy champions with stacks of Frost via his basic attacks. The stacks are not consumed but the % slowed scales with the amount of stacks.

E: Glacial Rupture

Active: Kari channels for roughly 1 second and leaves a circle of ice on the ground. A pillar of ice will shoot out of it upon activation of the circle; Kari leaves a predetermined direction before the channel (similar to Taliyah E). Circle is visible to all but direction is visible only to allies; direction will be shown upon activation. Kari is rooted during the channel and is cancelled if Kari takes any damage/cc during.

Activation: The circle activates when an ally or enemy champion breaks the circle of ice by walking over it. The ground in the circle shakes for a brief moment, revealing its direction to the enemy, and shoots out a pillar of ice towards that direction. This will push or shoot whoever is on the circle towards the direction.

Immediate Activation: The circle will immediately activate, by passing the ground shake, if Kari, an ally or an enemy is in the circle as soon as it completes.

R: Endless Winter

Passive: Frost now stacks up to 5 times and will stun for a short duration at 5 stacks.

Active: Kari summons up the winters of Freljord in a zone (scales per ability level) that grows during its duration. Enemy champions caught inside will have no vision outside Endless Winter and have severely limited vision inside; the vision will rapidly clear up as the duration nears its end. Enemy champions outside will not have vision inside the zone until the duration is over. Ally champions will have complete vision inside and outside the zone. During its duration, Frost will continuously be applied to all enemies at 1 per half second. At the end of its duration, Endless Winter will explode, damaging all enemies outside the zone and slowing them.

Kari can opt into ending Endless Winter prematurely which will cause it to implode, damaging all enemies inside.

Idea behind Kit:

I want Kari to appeal to players who like to dictate the flow of team fights and reward those who take their time to prep objectives. Kari does not have any means of reliable hard CC outside of his Ultimate passive but has tools to dictate his enemy movements through chasing and kiting using his variety of slows and traps his kit provides. Kari's real strength is in his Ultimate as it has very big area of vision denial which can be used in multiple ways. He can use it to safely secure objectives, protect the back line from assassinations or flanks, and even use it to cut off vision within the enemy team.

I also wanted Kari to have synergy with other champions from the Freljord as they were all influenced by the same environment. So an obvious synergy will be with Ashe, she will be able to continuously proc the 2nd part of Chilling Cold due to her innate slow on her autos. I do not want this synergy to be forced so much that players will be forced to play a certain champion once Kari is picked, etc.

I want Kari to really shine in team fights and objective control. He will have no real peel and his Frost Armor is not very good without at least a 3rd party involved so his lane might suffer.
