[Champion Concept] Aldair, The Giant Guardian
This champion is part of a project im working on to expand the lore and history of the Glade. The Glade is the realm of the Fae, where Lulu was taken by Pix. Not much is known of this world other then that it stands outside of time and is vastly different then Runeterra. I took it upon myself to create a new race and two new factions. For the whole story, take a look at my other Fae champion concepts :D Puck, The Adventurous Sprite, Trystain, The Fae Knight, Gullveig, The Wailing Witch and Juniper, The Forest Guardian
This concept is nowhere near done yet. I still need to add more quotes and ofcourse his kit isn't quite what it needs to be. Tips are always welcome, so feel free to leave a comment ^^
**Name: ** Aldair **Gender: ** Male **Race: ** Fae (Unseelie court) **Birthplace: ** The Faelands
**Lore: ** Aldair is a perfect example of the general misunderstandings that mortals associate with the Unseelie Fae. Bulky, big and not the most social of creatures, this Ogre was usually looked upon with fear. Mortals and Fae alike shunned him. It suited him fine though. He loved being by himself and usually just wandered around the forest without a goal, humming some song he had heard from the forest Fae. Unlike his imposing exterior, Aldair was actually very gentle and a strict vegetarian. His days alone did come to an end however. On one of his daily wanderings, on an especially stormy and gloomy evening, Aldair came upon a young Faerie boy. The poor lad had lost his parents and had been sitting under a tree, huddled tightly in his cloak. It surprised Aldair that the boy was not scared of him, but in stead sought shelter from the winds behind his bulky posture. It was too dangerous for the child to stay in the forest, but he could not care for it, so he lifted the boy up and started walking towards civilisation. It was not long before he came upon a delegation of royal soldiers that seemed to be looking for something. As he neared, the soldiers spotted him and raised their weapons. Aldair halted and tried to make clear that he meant no harm, but his low voice was mistaken for a growl. Then a regal looking woman and man stepped forward. The boy yelped in his arms and stretched his arms towards the pair. Aldair put the boy on the ground. As it waddled towards what he assumed to be the boys parents, a thunderbolt hit a big tree near the road. With a loud cracking sound, the tree split in two and started falling over. With surprisingly fast reflexes, Aldair sprang into action. As fast as he could, the brute ran over to the boy and caught the falling tree in his arms, just before it was about to hit de ground…and the boy under it. With a loud grunt the Ogre launched the tree to the side of the road. The parents had come running when they saw the big man jump and were hugging their child tightly. As it happens, the child had been Prince Trystain, the son of the Faerie king and queen. Out of sheer gratitude, the royal pair anointed the big ogre as a hero of the Fae. But maybe even more precious a gift he received, was the friendship of the young prince. From that day on, the ogre was the personal guard of the boy, and he loved the job. Many years later, after the splitting of the two Faerie Courts, Aldair was still in service to the Faerie Queen Mab. Worried about her son that had just entered the league of legends, Mab ordered the ogre to join the league himself, and to keep an eye on prince Trystain.
Appearance: See picture. This is not my art and I take no credit for it, I only use it as a general idea. I want him to give a very imposing impression with his size, but with a far more gentle face. The big white beard would help to give him a bit of a cuddly Santa vibe. His voice should be earthy, low and with no sign of haste (think Treebeard from the Lord Of The Rings). He has no hurry with whatever he does and I want him to reflect that in his character.
Quotes:
**Moving: ** “Slow and steady wins the race…” “The path is long, but so are my legs.” “I never tire.” “Steady as the cidar.” “Flexible as the willow.” “Strong as the oak.” “Fee-fi-fo-fum.”
**Attacking: ** “Don’t be hasty now..” “Don’t try to run…”
**Jokes: ** “One giant leap for mankind is but a mere step to me…” “Do not worry…I’ll be gentle.”
**Taunts: **
(When Trystain is in allied team): “I promised Mab I would keep you safe and safe is where I'll keep you.”
Gameplay: Aldair is a AP melee tank champion that can be played in many different roles. You can go full AP and play him mid, you can build him tanky/offensive and play him top and you can even build him as a support. But I believe he would be best as a jungler. His Cloak of Roses would give him easy camp clear and Baritone gives him nice sustain. He can use Giants Leap for a gap closure and then use Endless Roots to hold the enemy in place for the laner to swoop in and take the kill. But thats ofcourse completely up to you.
**Passive, Unseelie Fortitude: ** Aldair’s skin will build up resistances over time while he is not taking damage. After taking no damage from champions or big monsters for at least 2 seconds, Aldair's magic resist and armor will increase by 1 / 3 / 5 every second, up until a maximum amount of 40 / 50 / 60 bonus magic resist and armor. This buff will slowly decrease with 5 every second once an enemy champion or monster damages him for more then 5% / 10% / 15% of his maximum health.
**Q, Giants Leap: ** **Cooldown: ** 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 **Mana cost: ** 50 **Active: ** Aldair leaps into the air towards a target location, dealing 80 / 105 / 130 / 155 / 180 (+ 25% AP) AoE magic damage where he lands and knocking those around him back for a small distance. If Cloak of Roses is active, this ability deals an additional 25% of Adair’s AP as bonus magic damage.
**W, Baritone: ** **Cooldown: ** 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 **Mana cost: ** 60 **Active: ** Aldair hums a tune with his low and earthly voice for 4 / 4.5 / 5 / 5.5 / 6 seconds. Every allied unit in a 500 unit radius gains a 100% / 125% / 150% / 175% / 200% increase in health and mana regeneration, plus a 5% / 10% / 15% / 20% / 25% increase in attack speed.
**E, Cloak of Roses: ** **Cooldown: ** 14 / 13 / 12 / 12 / 10 **Mana cost: ** 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 **Active: ** Aldair grows thorns all over his body for 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 seconds, that will damage any champion that walks in to (This includes abilities that require physical contact) or auto attacks him for 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 (+ 35% AP) magic damage. This damage is counted for every second that the enemy is in contact with him AND with every auto attack.
**R, Endless Roots: ** **Cooldown: ** 120 / 100 / 80 **Mana cost: ** 60 / 80 / 100 + 20 per second **Toggle: ** Aldair channels for 1 second as he smashes his hands into the earth and takes control of the tree roots under the ground, becoming rooted and unable to do anything else other then selecting an enemy champion. Adair can stop this state at any time by reactivating the ability. He can target 1 / 2 / 3 enemy champions within range and root them for at least 1 / 1.5 / 2 seconds and drain 25 / 35 / 45 (+10% AP) health every second. The root and drain will then continue until Adair is either moved (this includes knocked back, up and polymorph among other things) in any way or his health drops below 20%.
