Just another Omen post but maybe...

So anyone who's been playing league for a few years and maybe even some new comers will have heard the tale of Omen. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120219192505/leagueoflegends/images/a/aa/Omen.png This guy right here. The long and short of it is, he's one of Riot's many shelved champion concepts. Their reason as we understand it is they didn't know how to make him unique in a gameplay sense. Nothing really jumped out at them that they could do to make one of the few non-humanoid champions in the game super special.

Skarner Anivia Hecarim RekSai Velkoz Are the only non-humanoid champions on this game. Even putting Hecarim in this group is kind of iffy.

Personally, I think Omen has a super unique look and it sparked my imagination. If anyone of you remember that old spiderman cartoon, Omen reminds me of Carnage, at least as far as texture and color scheme go. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/64/Carnage_in_Spider-Man_The_Animated_Series.jpg

Carnage is an alien symbiote that lives off of a host, like a parasite or a disease. With this thought process in mind, the following are my ideas for what Omen could have (or maybe can be? Rito pls?) if he was a realized champion in game.

Omen, The Plague Beast Resource: Mana Stats levels 1-18 > HEALTH 526 – 1989 ATTACK DAMAGE 55 – 108 HEALTH REGEN. 5.5 – 10.3 ATTACK SPEED 0.668 MANA 413 – 1307 ARMOR 24.0 – 75.0 MANA REGEN. 7.6 – 16.1 MAGIC RES. 32.1 – 53.4 MELEE 125 MOV. SPEED 350

PASSIVE - Living Infection: Upon killing a unit, Omen spreads an infection on the earth. 2 seconds for enemy minions, 4 seconds for neutral monsters, 8 seconds for large monsters, and 16 seconds for epic monsters, allowing him bonus AD (10/20/30) and 50% bonus health regen while standing upon it. Enemies standing on this ground will have grievous wounds applied to them, be dealt (5/10/20)(+1% of Omen's Maximum Health) as magic damage per second, and will be revealed. All infection will disappear upon Omens death.

Q: Festering Charge Cooldown: 14/12/10/8/6 Cost: 75 / 85 / 95 / 105 / 115 Damage: 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 (+75% of Bonus AD) Stun duration: 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 / 1.8 / 2 Range: 550 Carry Distance: 350

ACTIVE: Omen charges forward, impaling enemies struck and knocking them back. If the enemy collides with a wall or another enemy unit, they will be stunned. Deals physical damage.

**W: Corrosive Infusion ** Cooldown: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 Cost: 80 Bonus Damage: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 (+50% of Total AD) Damage over time PASSIVE: 1% / 2% / 3% / 4% / 5% of Omen's Maximum Health Damage over time ACTIVE: 1.5% / 2.5% / 3.5% / 4.5% / 5.5% of Omen's Maximum Health Range: N/A

PASSIVE: Omen’s auto attacks will deal a percentage of his maximum health as magic damage over 3 seconds.

ACTIVE: Omen empowers his next auto attack, increasing the DoT effect of this ability as well as dealing bonus physical damage.

E: Symbiotic Growth Cooldown PASSIVE: N/A Cooldown ACTIVE: 20 Cost: 10% of Maximum Health Damage: 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 (+50% of Total AD)(+5% of Enemies current health) Damage Radius: 600 Slow: 20% Range PASSIVE: 200 Range ACTIVE: 2500 / 3000 / 3500 / 4000 / 4500

PASSIVE: Omen may select one ally champion and infect them with a portion of himself, reducing his maximum health by 10% while that champion is alive. Champions carrying this growth gain the same amount Omen sacrificed. More than one ally may be selected, each requiring Omen to sacrifice 10% of his max health.

ACTIVE: Omen teleports to that champion with violent explosion, dealing physical damage to all enemies nearby and applies a 20% slow to all enemies hit.

R: Primal Plague Cooldown: 120 / 100 / 80 Cost: 100 Damage: 100 / 200 / 300 (+40% of Bonus AD) Range: 200 Contamination Range: 400 Duration: 4 seconds Omen stabs at a single target dealing a large amount of initial physical damage and the DoT effect of W to the afflicted target and If the target comes within 400 units of an enemy champion, Primal Plague will spread, dealing the same amount of initial physical damage to the new target and applying the DoT effect as well as the spreading effect. This effect will last 4 seconds on each target afflicted.

Omen would work well as a tanky surprise initiator with his E, being attached to someone with a way to get into the fight. From there he can teleport to them with his E Active, using his R to infect someone, and stunning a single high priority target with his Q. In normal ganks from the jungle or a top lane roam, using Q to stun the target on a wall or minion, autoing then using his W reset to apply his DoT, and finally ulting the target to finish them off.

Playing Omen in the Jungle would allow him to use his passive to cover the entirety of his route, allowing him to see any unstealthed enemies who walk on his path. Securing kills or neutral objectives would allow him to blanket lanes or key areas with a carpet of vision. However, being in the middle of a fight will put him at great risk of dying and having to set up his passive from the beginning, as it will disappear globally upon his death. Picking your fights and knowing when it's worth giving up so much vision will be key for successfully playing Jungle Omen.

Playing Omen toplane will allow him to very quickly cover his lane in his passive, as well as counter jungling the enemy and setting it up in the opposing jungle. However, > Example Build: Jungle item 3709 item 3111 item 3748 item 3071 item 3083 item 3110 Example Build: Top item 3068 item 3742 item 3071 item 3053 item 3009 item 3748

> Champions to pick with Omen Malphite Sejuani JarvanIV Maokai Rengar TahmKench Shen

> Champions to pick against Omen Vayne Ekko Kindred Ahri Xerath Azir Leblanc

Is this the Omen Riot couldn't see? Is it stupidly broken and OP? Let me know down below. Omen seems like a really interesting champion, and if enough of us work together Riot might give him the blind monk treatment and unshelve him. Please ask any questions for clarification on abilities or ratios or stats. Feel free to make any suggestions you think would make him better.

on the topic of humanoid

yeah Hecarim is iffy as a non humanoid. By that I mean Cassiopeia is technically the same thing, half snake. but then again Nami is a mermaid lmao

But I mean Blitzcrank is not human, although humanoid (arms and legs) still a robot.

and Galio is sort of non humanoid, Volibear is a bear, Chogath is like a giant demon

Humanoid being like a biped with two arms. Cass is a human I think a snake his just like biting her lower body, nami is nonhuman but still feels humanoid, the rest walk on two legs and have arms. I guess voil sometimes runs on all fours though

Elise is sometimes a spider lol

A lot of this is not really unique.

The Q is literally just Poppy's E. W is just Poppy's Q + Fizz's W E is way to OP, A 4500 ranged damaging teleport on a base 20s CD? R is very similar to Varus's R except for the lack of a root. The passive is a little much, especially since it works on minions.

Part of the issue Riot had wasn't the lack of unique gameplay (back then they were releasing champs every two weeks, there were many champions being released with questionable uniqueness which Riot is now addressing), it was the gameplay they had didn't match thematic/visual expectations (for lack of a better word). For example, you made Omen melee and most people thought he was melee just looking at him...but Omen was actually suppose to be ranged (aa was throwing spikes off back or something like that).

Name two totally unique abilities in this game. Literally every ability takes inspiration from another champion or just an element of a different map. And as far as I know no stats or abilities were ever released for omen so I'm not sure how you know whether or not he was meant to be ranged.

There is taking "inspiration" from another champion and the ability being literally exactly the same.

This is your Q:

Omen charges forward, impaling enemies struck and knocking them back. If the enemy collides with a wall or another enemy unit, they will be stunned. Deals physical damage.

This is Poppy's E:

Poppy charges at the target enemy, dealing them magic damage and carrying them along with her. If they collide with terrain, she stuns her target for 1.5 seconds and deals them additional magic damage.

The only difference is your does physical damage, works with another enemy unit versus just terrain, and does not do extra damage if stunned.

This is your W: PASSIVE: Omen’s auto attacks will deal a percentage of his maximum health as magic damage over 3 seconds.

ACTIVE: Omen empowers his next auto attack, increasing the DoT effect of this ability as well as dealing bonus physical damage.

This is Fizz's W: Passive: Fizz's basic attacks rend his target, dealing magic damage over 3 seconds.

Active: Fizz's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage for the next 6 seconds.

The passive is exactly the same between the two (you are just using Omen's max health as the way to determine damage, Fizz uses a flat amount that scales based on AP and enemy's missing health). The actives are essentially the same- the next attack(s) will hurt slightly more.

There is also absolutely no flow or synergy to your abilities. What is the point of the passive when it creates these zones, but none of the abilities interact with them? Why are you giving Omen an ability that can push him and enemies out of the infection zones versus keeping them inside the zones? Why, with this passive, are you giving him a skill that would teleport Omen completely away from where the infected earth is? You give his passive all this power (granting Omen bonus AD and health regen, while apply GW, sight, and damage to enemies), yet it poorly explained how it all works. The passive makes it seem like you should stay within the area to be fully unlock the character's potential, but your kit doesn't support it, and your attempt to justify it in the jungle scream more "oh it provides a lot of vision". That is fine, but then what is the point of granting all the other buffs and debuffs in the passive area? Why is GW needed? Why is the extra AD needed? Why is the magic damage needed? If is passive damages enemies over time while they are standing in it, why does his W/R also need to be DoTs? Is this a tank/initiator, or suppose to fulfill a DoT playstyle fantasy (and if so, what is the point of of his Q and giving him a teleport?)

Look at Varus's E as a foil. It slows enemies, keeping them in the E area longer. He has a root on his R to help keep the enemies in a specific area. It gives GW because its thematic purpose is you can duel an adc and keep them within the hail of arrows so that their lifesteal is negated giving Varus and upper hand. There is no encouragement to stay in your passives or help lock your enemy down in the passive zones.

Also, while no kit was ever released for Omen, Riot has talked quite a bit about him at varius times over the years. From Zileas (taken from http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=1857974&page=2):

Yep, we did. Omen had a lot of problems, and we spent some months trying to solve them and couldn't, so we moved on to characters where we could solve the problems. The basic issues around Omen were personification and readability. We had trouble inserting compelling personality (sortof like how Skarner struggles with this), and this diminishes his ability to appear as a 'champion' rather than a minion or pet.

**Additionally, it was hard to draw him in a way that signaled him as ranged dps (where we thought the coolest kit could exist). Some people do see this in the designs, others expect assassin or melee DPS or even tank. ** Plus, he eats up conceptual space we would rather use on other reptilian monsters ;p Which you guys would rather have.

I'm really excited about the champions we have coming this year.

Passive: mostly good, from what I can tell tho, Riot is removing grievous wounds from most champion kits. Also what are the stats of a infected area from killing a enemy champion

Little Stick Man1 votes

Whoops forgot to put that in, it'd be 16 seconds so same as an epic monster

DeynaTaggerung1 votes

:'( only to add it back in on a cheap item. So maybe they're reverting that design idea.

I might add KogMaw to the list of non-humanoid but on to the kit,

Q: "Omen charges forward, impaling enemies struck and knocking them back" if he has those huge spikes on his back pointed forward, wouldn't the target struck just get stuck on them instead of getting knocked back? have you thought about maybe him carrying them forward to the end of the dash? Q: Enemies along his path take damage and are knocked toward his target location.

I like W, simple but effective. Would be cool if it empowered the next AA, or Ability.

E is pretty cool too! have you thought about E granting W: Corrosive Infusion Passive to the selected Champion? well E is cool except that range is OP, it needs to be under 1500 to be a non-ult ability, and there are very, very few non-ult abilities (i can't think of any) that increase their range with lvl. also "maximum health by 10%" or current health? "sacrifice 10% of his max health" makes since but not "reducing his maximum health by 10%" also say heal for allied champs, so its clearer it should read: "PASSIVE: Omen may select one ally champion and infect them with a portion of himself, sacrificing 10% of his maximum health while that champion is alive. Champions carrying this growth heal by the same amount Omen sacrificed."

I would consider omitting this because it overloads the ability, and adds strength where there should be weakness. "More than one ally may be selected, each requiring Omen to sacrifice 10% of his max health."

for the active will Omen then get that growth back? I mean he TP'd to that growth, so he should take it back right? suggestion: "ACTIVE: Omen teleports to that champion with violent explosion, dealing physical damage to all enemies nearby and applies a 20% slow to all enemies hit. After a 1 sec delay Omen deactivates the passive and heals by 10% of the allied champion's max health."

also have you though about letting Omen use his E on an enemy?

I do have a question, do you mean to make Omen for the support role? It appears that all of his abilities could really support a support role if he builds health. Except R, it does not fit the support role. I ask this because E pretty much locks him into a lane that has another champion. He almost literally cannot use E if he is not near another champion. I mean I see that you want him in the jg or top lane, but he can't use E at all in those positions, its like trying to play Morde during his rework in mid when they wouldn't let him use E without a partner. if you do not mean for him to play support, then I would either suggest thinking of another ability (which is sad) or allow him to cast it on 1 minion.

also since R doesn't really fit the kit, (in addition to it being alot like Varus's ult) i may consider either changing it a bit or omitting it.

these are all suggestions of course, but after reading 137434 , i see that he has a lot of valid points, one thing you could do is change the passive or change the kit to fit the passive better, which I think is better. Just over haul the whole kit except the passive and build around it.
