Since Ao Shin won't come out until the apocalypse

Since Ao Shin is pretty much dead, I thought a new dragon from Ionia might be cool. Yu Fei is the Jade Dragon seen in Jade Dragon Wukong's Artwork. Let me know what you think about the kit and if you'd be interested in a dragon support.

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/9/9f/Wukong_JadeDragonSkin.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151007054842 Champion: Yu Fei, The Jade Dragon Role: Support Range: 450 Type: Tank/Mage

Lore: A small orphanage bustles with hushed excitement, as the sun sets in a nameless village on the coast of Ionia. The matron of the orphanage lowers herself into a rocking chair twice her size. The children scurry to sit in front of her, eagerly waiting for her to speak. "What tale would you like to hear this time, young ones?" She asks, reaching for a massive tome. "Tell us the story of the Emperor of the Sands!" A young boy shouted out. "No, tell us about the Harrowing and the Black Mist!" Another yelled. The room soon devolved into a chorus of requests, before one young girl raised a hand amidst the chaos. The matron waved a hand and silenced the crowd before calling on the girl. "I...I'd like to her about Yu Fei..." She let out timidly. "Ah yes...The Jade Dragon. I haven't told that story in some time, child." The Matron chuckled. The other children seemed to be satisfied with this request as their pouting faces turned to their storyteller, waiting for her to speak. "Yu Fei, The Jade Dragon was elder sister to Ao Shin, The Storm Dragon. Where Ao Shin roams the skies high above us, Yu Fei is the ground beneath us. She is the grass and trees. She does not watch over us, but instead, walks with us every step of every day. But you may be wondering how she came to be, yes?" The Matron asked. Quiet "Mhmm"'s and nods came from her audience. "Well, in the beginning, when Ionia was still young. A great darkness covered the world. A fog that stretched from horizon to horizon, blocking out all light from touching the ground. The first Emperor, who was the mightiest warrior in all of Ionia, with fists that could shatter mountains, fought the fog for days without progress. Striking at it with his all his might for hours on end only to have it move around his fists. One day, the first Emperor of Ionia, struck the ground with such force, he created a chasm miles deep. Slowly, beams of light poured forth from the depths. A mighty Dragon, made entirely of Jade emerged. The Dragon looked upon the land, viewing the sorrow of the people and the frustration of their leader. The Dragon asked him "Why have you struck the earth, who has done nothing to harm you?" and he responded "Forgive me, I have tried striking the fog but no matter the force of the blow, I cannot defeat it." He apologized, bowing his head in shame. The Dragon said "Force without skill is meaningless. Allow me to show you." She said before flying high into the sky. She danced, lashing her tail and whipping all of the fog into a single ball. She circled the mass, breathing a green fire that seemed to turn it to stone. She twirled with the newly formed stone, lowering it gently to the earth. She spoke to the young Emperor "Do not hate this creature, it only did what it was meant to do, as have I. As penance striking my domain, construct a temple to house the fog. Protect it, and keep it forever contained." The young Emperor bowed deeply before asking "What is your name, Wise Dragon? I must know to whom I owe this great debt." "You may call me Yu Fei. Grow into a great Emperor, I will be watching." She said before returning to the earth. As she did so, the cold, dead ground sprang to life. Fields of grass grew, trees sprouted and bloomed, and rivers flowed freely.

The Matron closed her tome, looking out into the audience of sleeping children. She rose, setting the book down and slowly tucked each of them into bed. She could not however find the little girl who requested to hear the story, however. Where she was sat, a small Jade stone remained.

Passive: Earthen Grace Each time an ally near Yu Fei takes damage from an enemy champion, she will generate charges of Earthen Grace up to 5 that last 8 seconds. Each charge of Earthen Grace will give Yu Fei 4 bonus armor and magic resist. Upon reaching maximum stacks, Yu Fei's abilities, will become empowered, activating any ability with max stacks will consume all charges. After using an empowered ability, this passive will go on a 7 second cooldown.

Q: Calming Aura Passive Range: 800 Active Range: 800 Cooldown: 9/8/7/6/5 Healing Cap: 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 (60% AP) Cost: 60/70/80/90/100

Passive: Yu Fei emanates a calming aura, generating stacks of Calm on all nearby champions. Yu Fei must be within range to generate charges, these charges will disappear after 3 seconds if Yu Fei is more than 800 units away. 8 stacks are generated every second.

Active: Yu Fei heals all allied champions with stacks of Calm on them for 1 health per stack. Bonus Effect: Activating the heal will also generate a shield on the target for half of the amount healed.

(Healing Cap Explained: The AP ratio attached only affects the amount of maximum stacks, not the amount of healing done. For example at rank 1 with 100 AP the maximum stacks would be 150.)

W: Crystallizing Fire Range: 500 Damage: 110 / 130 / 150 / 170 / 190 (+90% AP) Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 Stun Duration: 1.5 Cost: 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 Active: Yu Fei breathes fire in a cone in front of her for 5 seconds, dealing magic damage over the duration. Any targets hit for 2.5 seconds will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. She may move while casting. Bonus Effect: Targets will be stunned after 1.5 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds.

E: Jade Blossoms Passive Range: 600 Active Range: 700 Damage: 60/95/130/165/200 (15% Bonus Health) Knock back Distance: 200 Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 Slow: 40% Slow Duration: 1 second Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 Passive: Yu Fei leaves a short range trial of Jade Blosoms behind her, increasing allies movespeed who follow the trail by 8%. If enemies follow the trail they will be slowed for the same amount. For this trail to be visible to the enemy, they must have vision of Yu Fei. Active: Yu Fei lashes her tail forward, knocking back enemies struck by a short distance and dealing magic damage. Afterwards all enemies struck will be slowed for 40% for 1 second. While this ability is on cooldown, Yu Fei will lose the passive effect. Bonus Effect: Increases the range of the knock back to 400.

R: Imperial Guardian Range/Radius: 800 Shield Amount: 50 / 75 / 100 (50% of AP) Healing Amount: 50 / 60 / 70 (50% AP) Cooldown: 130 / 120 / 110 Cost: 120 / 110 / 100 Active: Yu Fei transforms into her statue form, becoming unable to move or cast additional spells for 4 seconds. Allies who stand near her will gain a shield lasting 8 seconds and be healed every second for 4 seconds. This is a channeled ability and may be interrupted. Bonus Effect: Allies will also gain a 40% move speed bonus for 2 seconds while within her ult.

I like this, the October CCOS is coming at the last week of the month, would you consider entering her? Also, careful about your opening message, people are really sensitive about Ao Shin

I wish Rito would release both Ao Shin and Yu Fei. I like having more dragons in League and this support jade dragon is very cool. Definetly would be my support main. Good work. ^_^

CCOS: Share the love

What is wrong:

  1. Looks like Ao Shin skin, not a champion on his own.
  2. Passive is nonsense. 40 bonus armor and magic resist from level one. That is just crazy stuff right there.
  3. Q is nonsense. What is healing per charge, why it only have healing at max stats or as you call it "Healing Cap". What does this even mean "Active: Yu Fei selects an allied champion, generating stacks of Calming Aura (8 per second). Activating this ability again heals the targeted champion based on how many charges were consumed." Does she would select champion and generate stacks or does she healed chosen champion? How many stacks can she build? Your description is straight from Coocoo town.
  4. W total damage is laughable. 120 (75% AP) over 5 sec? Cha, even minions does more damage than that.
  5. E have another passive, why does she need so many passives? And why in the hell she have AD scaling ability [130 (100% Bonus AD)] with laughable damage when you should build full AP whit her? No other ability is compatible with AD items, but this one scales with AD? Crazy talk again.
  6. R healing scaling is laughable and doesn't matter, shield is maybe too high. However, AP scaling is crazy high. 160% of AP as shield and healing? An when it can't be stopped or interrupted? Talking about crazy, this just top everything.
  7. You seem nuts and would suggest taking a break for awhile.

What is good:

  1. Nothing.

Sounds a lot like the Jade Serpent ;P

Cool support concept, however I have a couple of questions and comments

Passive

  1. While the idea is cool, in practice the passive is very strong, especially early game. Gaining up to 40 bonus armor and MR at level 1 is game changing. These numbers need some tuning. Maybe make it scale with her level? Ex : Max 10/15/20/25/30/35/40 at levels 1/4/7/10/13/16
  2. It is simply too easy to gain stacks of the passive. IMO this should only charge from damage dealt by enemy champions. Even then, you'll have the passive up pretty much all the time during team fights. I would be tempted to put a CD on the passive after you've used an empowered ability. Something short like 6-ish seconds.

Q

  1. I like the idea of stacking some healing capacity on your allies as you stay near them
  2. You really need to better explain how the spell works. It's currently very confusing. How does the heal stack with AP? Is it a flat 60% ap ratio no matter the number of stacks? Does it scale with the number of stacks? How many stacks per second do you passively generate?
  3. I feel like the first activation of Q simply takes away from the gameplay pattern of staying near your allies to stack your healing potential while also being way too low to actually change anything when you really need to heal someone
  4. The non-linear mana cost is very odd and it seems unecessary to have it be so high
  5. If I could make a suggestion : Change the ability and make it have a high mana cost (say 60/70/80/90/100) but a very low cooldown (like 3 to 5 seconds). That way, it gives your champion the ability to quickly heal her entire team during team fights if she has stacked her aura on them, but still limits her ability to heal only one person

W

  1. The mana cost seems way too high for what the ability does
  2. Can she walk while using this or does she stand still?
  3. The damage is REALLY low, even for an instant spell. The fact that it is spread out over 5 seconds makes it negligible

E

  1. Cool spell with nice passive and active utility
  2. The physical damage and AD scaling is really out of place. I understand that's it's probably because of the fact that it's a physical move, but I'd suggest changing it to magic damage and AP scaling
  3. The damage increase per rank is way too low. I'd suggest something like 60/95/130/165/200 (+60% ability power) magic damage. It's not a huge burst spell but it's not entirely negligible either
  4. Might wanna look back on the description, the slow part makes no sense to me. For 5 seconds they are slowed for 1 second?

R I really like that ability, however, the shield amount is too high and the fact that she is immune to enemy effects takes a LOT away from the ability. Being vulnerable to CC and damage in statue form would make the ability a really cool decision point both for the Yu Fei player and the enemy team, who might want to focus down the support who is outputting insane amounts of shields and heals instead of someone else.

The lore is cute. Is the open ending intentional? I would presume so, since we now have to guess as to who the little girl was - a fragment of Yu Fei (like one hair from Sun Wukong's body can become a full clone)? Or perhaps one of her children, who wanted to hear about her own mother? Or even a part of Yu Fei's soul, who wanted to know if the world still remembered her?

I do have one thing I'd like to know more about - what happened with the fog stone? Of course, you don't actually have to add anything about it, I'm just curious, since it could potentially be part of the story of another Champion entirely (think Zed stealing the scroll of shadows from the Kinkou).

On to her kit!

Passive: Earthen Grace Each time an ally near Yu Fei takes damage, she will generate charges of Earthen Grace up to 5. Each charge of Earthen Grace will give Yu Fei 8 bonus armor and magic resist. Upon reaching maximum stacks, Yu Fei's abilities, will become empowered, activating any ability with max stacks will consume all charges.

Already, we can tell she's going to go in a more support/tank-oriented direction. That's good for kit clarity, but don't forget to mention how long each charge lasts - or if it's a permanent stack, like Annie, it's good to mention that the charges don't expire.

Q: Calming Aura Passive Range: 800 Active Range: 800 Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 /11 Healing Cap: 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 (60% AP) Cost: 50 / 70 / 80 / 100 /120 Passive: Yu Fei emanates a calming aura, generating stacks of Calming Aura on your selected target while you are within 800 units of them up to a cap. More than one champion may be selected at a time, but Yu Fei must be within range to generate charges, these charges will disappear after 3 seconds if Yu Fei is more than 800 units away. Active: Yu Fei selects an allied champion, generating stacks of Calming Aura (8 per second). Activating this ability again heals the targeted champion based on how many charges were consumed. Bonus Effect: Activating the heal will also generate a shield on the target for half of the amount healed.

Interesting take on Sona's heal. You should take into consideration how long it takes to reach the healing cap per Champion, though - since stacks increase by 8 per second, it takes 11.25 seconds to reach the 90 Heal cap, but it takes 16.25 seconds to reach the 130. I'm assuming that's not how it works, so you should clarify and mention the actual time OR the amount the "heal" is increased per stack of Calming Aura. Or, you could add a fixed duration for when you reach max stacks.

My final comment on this: You should swap the Q and W order. Rumble and Sona players are gonna feel weird that their Flamespitter-style spell (normally Q) is on W, and that their Sona-heal-type spell (normally W) is on Q. Just food for thought. xD

W: Crystallizing Fire Range: 500 Damage: 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 (75% AP) Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 Stun Duration: 1.5 Cost: 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 / 130 Active: Yu Fei breathes fire in a cone in front of her for 5 seconds, dealing magic damage over the duration. Any targets hit for 2.5 seconds will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. Bonus Effect: Targets will be stunned after 1.5 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds.

Low base damage, but more than makes up for it with decent scaling and superb CC effect. An AoE non-latch version of Leblanc's E mixed with Rumble's Q (or, if you think of it that way, a delayed Annie W stun). It's a pretty interesting mix - and certainly very unique. Mana cost is on the high side, but I suppose that's a given considering her potential for AoE CC.

Like I mentioned previously, consider swapping Q and W around - you don't have to, of course, but I think it'd be better.

E: Jade Blossoms Passive Range: 600 Active Range: 700 Damage: 90 / 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 (100% Bonus AD) Knock back Distance: 200 Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 Slow: 40% Slow Duration: 1 second Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 Passive: Yu Fei leaves a short range trial of Jade Blosoms behind her, increasing allies movespeed who follow the trail by 8%. If enemies follow the trail they will be slowed for the same amount. Active: Yu Fei lashes her tail forward, knocking back enemies struck by a short distance and dealing physical damage. For 5 seconds afterwards all enemies struck will be slowed for 40% for 1 second. While this ability is on cooldown, Yu Fei will lose the passive effect. Bonus Effect: Increases the range of the knock back.

Dunno how I feel about a permanently slowing trail. 8% isn't huge, though, so it's not too bad. It'd be nice to know the distance of the trail, though, and if it's visible in the fog of war or not.

Mana cost is a bit high at later ranks. I think that can be toned down to 70/75/80/85/90. Also:

For 5 seconds afterwards all enemies struck will be slowed for 40% for 1 second.

You should go over that line. Are they slowed for 1 second, or 5? =P

R: Imperial Guardian Range/Radius: 800 Shield Amount: 100 / 150 / 200 (40% of AP) Healing Amount: 50 / 60 / 70 (40% AP) Cooldown: 130 / 120 / 110 Cost: 120 / 110 / 100 Active: Yu Fei transforms into her statue form, becoming immune to all effects for 4 seconds. During this time, she may not move or cast spells. Allies who stand near her will gain a shield and be healed every second for 4 seconds. Bonus Effect: Allies will also gain a 40% move speed bonus for 2 seconds while within her ult.

I'm... not too sold on her ult, honestly. Unless it's like zhonya's, like, her spells that have already been cast are still in effect. Then that's actually kind of cool (if somewhat unfun to play against), since you can be blowing fire while in statue mode. Which can be funny.

I like that Yu Fei's entire kit is somewhat like "what if Zeke's Harbinger was a Champion" type thing. It might not have been intentional, but at least that's how I see it. It's an interesting spin on the charge mechanic. I'm assuming Q is basically unusable in a solo lane?

Otherwise, I like it. Interesting take on certain skills. I'd look at her ult, though. I'm not too keen on an non-interrupt-able heal (outside of getting her allies outside of the range). While it definitely has counterplay, it still feels like the heal+shield is too "free" (for example, Janna can accidentally save enemies, and Fiora requires actively trying to proc marks/kill her target to actually get the heal off), especially considering it's pretty much unstoppable.

Wow, nice idea! I can tell you put a lot of work into this! I'd probably increase the ult cooldown early, but lower it later. I'm looking forward to competing with you in the CCOS! Here's my champion idea:

jcwolves10/26/2015, 1:30:52 AM1 votes

Okay... As a support main, I find some issues here. First: Passive. O.M.G. No, this is way too strong. 40 mr and armor after someone pokes your ADC 5 times is not okay. I assume by "near her" you mean within 1000 units. Take off the armor/MR, or nerf it strongly, and we might be okay.

Q: For clarity, she should generate stacks of "calm" not calm aura, as it could easily be mistaken with the passive. Only one champion at a time. Please specify how much health each stack would give. If you want it to be 8, i feel that is fairly weak, and should scale. Perhaps go for 1 stack a second, at 5 stacks it heals 50/60/80/100/120 + 30% AP. She can reactivate this ability early to give a 20% reduced heal. Sound fair? The bonus seems fairly solid, but maybe not for 50%. 30% I think would be more fair. This heal would be way powerful early if you left it at 90 base, with a 15sec cooldown. Scaling is a bit silly as well IMO.

W: Im very unsure what you meant here as an ability. Is it that champions still within the cone at 2.5 sec are stunned for 1.5 seconds, and the bonus is a 2.5 sec stun? This is fair, but the CD would have to be a lot higher, or the ability would have to scale. try a 20sec base CD.

E: Should probably also scale with AP. But it does make more sense to scale with AD-just think it would be more convenient since everything else scales with AP. Another hard CC after her stun is a bit much, perhaps it only does damage, unless you are willing to reconsider nerfing her Q as well. You need to choose control type or heal/escape.

R: Okay a free zhonyas, similar to Lissandra's ult, but for allies. Solid idea, the move buff could be lowered and made to 3 seconds.

Just opinions, based on current meta supports and my observations.

Rito Jericho10/26/2015, 2:16:23 AM1 votes

I'm not a big support player (though, then again, who is at this point in the game? lol), but I'd certainly give this champion a try. She really is an interesting concept.

passıon10/29/2015, 2:21:05 AM1 votes

I think it's a beautiful concept! I'm with CCOS too, and I think you made a good piece! I just think the numbers are low as they scale (Expect on E)

Also, I'm confused on Q. I might have read this wrong, but how much HP is restored by 1 stack? I only see the cap, which doesn't help. Also, how are you able to use it on more than one ally, if reactivating it will detonate it?

zemaxs10/29/2015, 2:54:10 PM1 votes

CCOS First thing first. You decided to ripoff Ao Shin because riot doesn't release it? Way to be original here. And you even took splash art of other champion. That is truly lame. Passive makes no sense. Q is useless unless you play support. And most other supports have better heals. W is just wtf. Stand still, do no damage and get killed. Worst ability ever. E... So he is AP support who should stack HP for ability only? And why he grows flowers when he is dragon? Wtf man. R is just bad ripoff of Janna.
