LORE In Runeterra, there dwells a city feared by many and looked upon with eyes filled with wonder and the wanting for strength. This city, nation, and strong way of life is known by only one name in all of Valoran: Noxus. http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/1/11/Noxus.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/2000?cb=20100917002524 Within such a city, there is strength and power. However, like shadows that come from light, weakness is born from such overwhelming strength. Weakness that equals the might that reflects from Noxus. Weakness that roams the streets, looking for new victims to plague. However again, where there is a plague, there is a doctor. That doctor is Gutch. He has served as the plague doctor for Noxus for years beyond any other doctor should. How he has lived for so long in his line of work is unknown. However, it is strange how he seems to know which section of the nation the plagues that brew in Noxus will spread to next. Plagues are rampant in Noxus due to the slums of the nation being filled with the homeless and unsanitary victims of the many wars Noxus wages on lands all across Runeterra. Gutch is so old, in fact, he was there when Swain was first ever seen. When Swain first appeared in this world, he was an enigma. No one knew where he had come from and no one cared actually. They did not have time for this kid that had suddenly appeared. Even at a young age, however, Swain was a brutal mastermind that would be seen near the spot of many deaths. Gutch was the doctor that cured Swain when he caught one of the plagues that had spread across Noxus. He visited Swain to check on the infection and noticed a bird, a raven to be exact, sitting on the floor next to Swain. It stared deeply into Gutch's eyes and, then, the plague doctor knew that this boy would become a man of strength one day. How? He just knew. The bird was a sign of strength to Gutch. From then on, he made it his duty to make sure the plagues of Noxus never caused the death of this boy. In the meantime, however, Gutch cured others. He went to a city he expected the plagues to spread to and, within a day, he had patients to attend to. Rumors have been spreading however. Rumors that Gutch is not a sign of life, but death. Rumor has it that he causes the plagues and he is the source of them all. He decides who lives and who dies. Rumors that he has decided himself to be Noxus' grim reaper and that only he will get to judge who should run the nation of Noxus. It appears he has chosen Swain for reasons unknown, but the rumors continue. No one wants to go with these rumors in fear of death, however. If Gutch truly controls the plague, he could kill you any second. All he needs is one word that you suspect him of his doings and your life is forfeit. You see, creatures and humans can heal, ward, and protect themselves in all kinds of ways from magic and physical attacks of all kinds. However, no matter how much you try to protect yourself, the plague always finds a way in and, when it does, you just have to pray that Gutch sees potential in you for, if he doesn't, the last thing you will be seeing in your short life is a bird mask. A bird mask that does not symbol the cure, the plague that it says it cures itself. Appointment 9:00 AM, the patient checks in. Strange timing. My shoes had just began to squeak when he came in. A truly wonderful time then indeed. Strange indeed. Anyways, I must check his pulse first. Checking. His pulse appears to be very slow. Very slow indeed, like a pumpkin rolling down a watery hill with, perhaps, a few blueberries on it. Maybe a watermelon at the bottom of the hill as well. Or was it the top? Little time. Little time. The patient seems to be ready for the treatments. First, we start with the injection. We inject him with a dose of red venom, made from strawberries and water. Of course, it also includes warding magic that I designed myself since I have much knowledge of this plague. The patient is a nice, strong man and he would serve Noxus right. Therefore, it is important he get this injection. He is reacting normally to such treatment. Twitches in both eyes and a very high amount of snot running from the nose and, oddly enough, the ears. It is all normal of course. Nothing to be afraid of. It is all part of the treatment. I reassure him that this is all normal and he should return to normal within the next three days. Or was it weeks? It does not matter, he will return to normal. Eventually. Next, I will use vocal techniques to make sure he does not go coo-coo crazy like some of the others... that... came... here. Yes, those ones. I tell him about Noxus. About it's strength. About what it needs. What it wants. What it... requires. He smiles. He agrees with my thoughts and tells me that, in good time, he will repay me for my help. Yes. Yes. Good, that is very good. All is going according to plan with the injection. It is now 11:00 AM and I will be letting the patient rest now. Sleep is the best medicine for this. With slumber comes dreams. With dreams, goals. With goals, power. Power that will fuel Noxus. Noxus fuels power. The cycle continues. The plagues help this. Noxus requires the plagues, and therefore requires me. With me, I make sure those that doubt their strength do not. They will shine to greatness. Those that have no strength I cannot save however. The plague devours weakness and, unfortunately, the weak die. It is only natural. A natural selection of death... yes. Now, I leave the patient. He must dream now. Dream of all the wonderful times we will have together. Very soon. Very soon...

KIT Gutch, the Plague Catalyst Disruptor Health- 485 (+65 per level) Health Regen.- 4 (+0.25 per level) Mana- 300 (+50 per level) Mana Regen.- 8 (+0.8 per level) Armor- 15 (+2.75 per level) Magic Resist- 30 (+0 per level) Movement Speed- 335 Attack Damage- 45 (+3 per level) Attack Speed- 0.645 (+2.5% per level) Attack Range- 575 (Ranged)

Passive- Sign of Death Innate: Wherever Gutch goes, the plague surely follows. Enemies around Gutch lose 0.7/0.8/0.9/1% (+0.2% per 100 AP) of their current health as magic damage every second for 5 seconds every time Gutch uses an ability or an enemy champion dies within 3 seconds of being damaged by Gutch. The damage of this effect is increased by 25% for every additional enemy champion past one enemy champion within the effect's range. The edge of this effect's range is marked with a green line that forms a circle around Glutch. The damage from Sign of Death neither applies spell effects nor heals Gutch through spell vamp or item effects. It can also not interrupt Recall. This ability deals a max of 20/35/50/65 (+5% AP) magic damage per second versus enemy minions and monsters. Effect Range: 1250 Levels: 1/6/11/16

Ability 1- Plague Doctor's Prescription Passive: Gutch's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage equal to 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5% (+0.5% per 100 AP) of his target's missing health. If the target is below 20/25/30/35/40% max health, his basic attacks will also apply Grievous Wounds for 2.5 seconds. Active: Gutch chucks a circular vial of chemicals in the target direction that will explode upon hitting an enemy unit, dealing 5/6.5/8/9.5/11% (+1% per 100 AP) of every enemy hit by this ability's max health as magic damage. Enemies hit will have their magic resist reduced by 10/15/20/25/30 for 5 seconds as well as be stunned for 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds if they are affected by the infection from The Plague. This ability deals a max of 150/200/250/300/350 damage versus enemy minions and monsters. Cost: 55/60/65/70/75 mana Cool Down: 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 seconds Range: 1050 AoE Radius: 275

Ability 2- Failed Appointments Active- Ground: If Gutch targets the ground with this ability, he sets behind a false corpse that looks like Gutch at the target location. The false corpse will stand there and not attack anyone that comes nearby. The false corpse only has 3% of Gutch's max health and will constantly have Sign of Death active around them. The false corpse lasts for up to 30/45/60/75/90 seconds and a max of 2/3/4/5/6 false corpses can be created at one time. Using this ability this way reduces the cool down of this ability by 75%. Active- False Corpse: After channeling for 1.5 seconds, Gutch appears at the target false corpse. After appearing there, the false corpse will emit a pulse throughout the full Sign of Death area it is emitting, causing all enemies infected by The Plague in the area to spread their infection to all other enemies within 300/325/350/375/400 units of them. Enemies it spreads to are also slowed by 30/35/40/45/50% for 3 seconds and are applied Grievous Wounds for the duration of the slow. After 7 seconds, Gutch will teleport back to where he was before teleporting to the targeted false corpse. Cost: 80/85/90/95/100 mana Cool Down: 60/55/50/45/40 seconds Ground Range (Setting Down a False Corpse): 500 False Corpse Range (Blinking to False Corpse): 3000/4000/5000/6000/7000

Ability 3- The Plague Active: Gutch enters stealth for the next 8/8.5/9/9.5/10 seconds after fading away for 2.5 seconds while not taking damage from enemy champions or structures. When Gutch enters stealth, a bird saying "CAW" can be heard all across the map. While in stealth, Gutch gains 10% movement speed and becomes one with the plague, revealing the full area being affected by the Signs of Death attached to Gutch's false corpses and the Sign of Death attached to him. Casting Failed Appointments will not cause Gutch to exit stealth. While still in stealth, Gutch can reactivate this ability to cause a deadly toxin to flow from the air into the target enemy champion after a 2.5 second delay. If the enemy leaves Gutch's sight during the delay, the toxin does not flow into them. Once the toxin is inside the target, until the infected enemy champion regenerates 100/135/170/205/240 (+100% AP) health, while they in an area affected by Sign of Death, they will lose 0.6/0.7/0.8/0.9/1% (+0.3% per 100 AP) of their missing health as magic damage every second. Healing from sources other than the target affected by the infection will only count at 25% effectiveness towards removing the health counter to cure the infection from the target. The infection damage neither applies spell effects nor heals Gutch through spell vamp or item effects. Infection damage cannot interrupt Recall. Once the enemy champion has been cured or dies from the infection, they cannot be infected again for the next 180/165/150/135/120 seconds (starting after they have respawned if they died), being reduced by cool down reduction. The target's health counter to cure the infection will refresh if this ability is recast on them and they have not yet cured the infection. The health counter to cure the infection is shown to the enemy through a debuff icon above their health bar. Cost: 80/85/90/95/100 mana Cool Down: 50/47.5/45/42.5/40 seconds after stealth ends Infection Range: Global

Ultimate- Symptoms of Death Passive: When this ability is leveled, Gutch is given the choice to add one of five symptoms to add onto the infection given to an enemy through his ability, The Plague. He can select a symptom from a row that appears above his abilities until he selects a symptom. Once he has selected a symptom, the symptom he selected cannot be picked again when he levels this ability again. Symptom #1: Frozen Veins- Targets affected by the infection from The Plague will have their movement speed slowed by 7/9.5/12% (+1% per 100 AP). Symptom #2: Resistant Fever- Targets affected by the infection from The Plague will have Grievous Wounds applied to them for 8/11.5/15 seconds upon being healed by a source besides themselves. Symptom #3: Death Bubbles- Targets affected by the infection from The Plague will create a greenish bubble underneath them once every 8 seconds that will pop after a 5 second delay or when an uninfected enemy champion steps on it. Enemies within 75 units of the bubble when it pops will take 100/135/170 (+30% AP) magic damage and temporarily be infected with the infection from The Plague for the next 5 seconds. Symptom #4: Tides of Rot- Targets affected by the infection from The Plague will cause their own team's minions that are within 1200 units of them to also suffer from The Plague as well as take 15/25/35 (+5% AP) magic damage every second. Symptom #5: Corrosive Flow- Targets affected by the infection from The Plague will have their armor and magic resist reduced by 15/20/25% and deal 5/7.5/10% reduced damage to champions. These symptoms will occur even if they are not in an area affected by Sign of Death. Active: Refresh the health counter on the target infected enemy champion. For the next 3/6.5/10 seconds, they cannot regain health in any way. Cost: 100 mana Cool Down: 100/80/60 seconds Range: Global

DESIGN NOTES Gutch is a very unique Controller and Disruptor in that, instead of heading into combat and directly taking a swing at his enemies to throw off their positioning, he instead relies on vision granted from his stealth and other friendly sources of vision to infect enemies with a deadly infection that will either force them to Recall if they are too low to handle the infection or force them to retreat and heal their health back. If they cannot, they will very slowly die a painful death from his plague. Similar to any infection, every plague has an obvious cure once you think about it. Health Potions and Refillable Potions plus any other healing effects from items can remove The Plague with enough effort. Plus, there are tons of passive ways built into Summoner's Rift to heal yourself, such as killing jungle camps, the Ocean Drake buff, and so on and so forth. It isn't until late game that you will have to worry about The Plague becoming a huge disruption on the Rift. When it does, however, your team needs to be prepared with Potions ready and an item that can heal them so they can remove the Plague as quick as they can. Those that wish instead to rush their own items can do so, but they must be prepared to Recall if needed and avoid Sign of Death areas if they wish to survive traversing the Rift with the infection on them. A few questions came up from people I showed this to before posting it here.

  1. Why the stealth mechanic? The reason I limited The Plague infection to be applied during stealth is for a couple reasons. The first reason is it fits his character. Gutch is an elusive fighter, not a direct soldier. He will be there with his team, but the enemy won't know it exactly. The second reason is for balance purposes. I wanted Gutch to have a limited window to apply the infection so it wasn't just "Gutch can see you, you will now take damage" on a global scale. Due to this, with proper anti-vision control and proper hunting of Gutch's false corpses, the enemy team can properly dispose of Gutch's various means of vision to therefore apply the infection without having to worry constantly about being infected. If the enemy team hears the bird CAW, they know both that Gutch is invisible and that they want to exit his vision quickly before he can apply the infection on them.
  2. Why the passive on Plague Doctor's Prescription or the ability all together? This is so using your basic attacks as Gutch isn't completely useless of course, otherwise, he would have next to no reason to basic attack enemies at all. The active portion is so, if Gutch has infected a ton of people and his cool downs are currently rolling, he has something to do other than wait around. Plague Doctor's Prescription is almost what you could call a "filler" spell for Gutch, giving him something to do in his down time.

QUOTES Upon Selection

  • "Perhaps... life... no... death. Yes, death. Death is what calls for them. Yes, that is what calls. It calls for their bodies and souls."

Entering a Game

  • "Log #245. It seems that the enemy army has decided death is what they require."
  • "Log #357. The light is bright, but that is not a worry for me or the enemy. How will they die? Burst of skin? Brain decay? Organ failure? Time will tell. I will see what I can."
  • "Log #126. How unfortunate, I was hoping I was going to avoid violence today. Maybe someday I could be sitting on a beach in Ionia, drinking a nice cup of tea while the crows circle the locals bodies. Or whatever is left, that is."
  • "Log #505. I'm beginning to wonder what the purpose of these logs are. Maybe someone else will one day read these and think to themselves, "That is a very sick man." Perhaps. However, I am a doctor and I treat sick men. Perhaps, it is not me who is sick, but the one who is reading these. Say, perhaps they are sick. I should treat them. Soon."

Moving

  • "The air is thick with disease. It is unfortunate this. A day off from all this death would be great. Unfortunately, I guess my work must continue. Heh..."
  • "I could really use this grass to make some new brew for the plague. Maybe someday the plague will rest, but, for now, it calls to me like a siren. However, I'm not sure what I would do without it, so perhaps it is not the siren. Perhaps I am."
  • "Smells like death. Of course, that's what I would say if I hadn't already stuffed this mask with everything on the face of Runeterra with smell nullification. sniffs Ah, flowers."
  • "The patients seem hostile. Noxus would not like this. Well, on the opposing side that is. I can deal with that however."
  • "Perhaps, one day, I can stop with this selection. Perhaps, one day, all will be strong."
  • "The weak do not deserve to live in this world. At least, those weak enough to be taken by the plague."
  • "The plague is smart. It's almost like something leads it. Something... or someone... brilliant."
  • "My voyage continues. Perhaps today I will come across fresh berries to shove down the throat of the sick. For medical purposes, of course."
  • "Noxus demands strength. I am the meat grinder."
  • "As I walk past the dead, I cannot but think, "Hey, when will this end? When will we stop such death." The answer is vague. One day, perhaps. Strength is a strange thing. It only chooses those who are worthy to possess it. When it sees all as worthy, then this will stop. The deaths will stop."
  • "234... 235... 236... many more steps until the next dies."
  • "I will cure those who are strong enough for my methods. Unfortunately, that tends to be only a small percentage. Perhaps, however, that is what the world demands. Natural selection, it seems, is a beauty. However, it can also be very... very ugly."
  • "Grim. Yes, very grim. So grim, however, even I sometimes wonder what is happening. Or rather, why? Why is it happening? Then I remember... death calls."

Attacking

  • "Can you hold still? The doctor demands you do so."
  • "Careful, you might feel... a little bit of pressure."
  • "This method is one hundred percent confirmed to cure any weakness you might have. All of it."
  • "I'm afraid I must quarantine you immediately."
  • "The plague must not spread further. Here, follow me."
  • "Dread flows through you, I know. Let me give you mercy."
  • "I'm afraid you have about... five seconds to live."
  • "Back to bed with you. You are not strong enough."
  • "Noxus demands better bodies than you."
  • "Careful, this might kill you."

Casting Plague Doctor's Prescription

  • "Perhaps this is what they... oh, what am I saying? It is exactly that."
  • "Here, take this. I promise, it will help you."
  • "Maybe you will live! That would be a surprise, and I'm a doctor."
  • "It drips with life... is what I would say if my fingers were crossed."
  • "Don't drink this if you find yourself suffering from weakness."

Casting Failed Appointments On the Ground

  • "Now, how did that get there?"
  • "Oh my... quite an unsightly... sight."
  • "Nothing new here in my profession."
  • "Careful, it's dead."
  • "The plague will thrive very well here."
  • "Honestly, this is like a regular sight for me."
  • "The dead sleep on the earth."
  • "Don't get near, you might just get infected."
  • "A gift from Gutch."

Casting Failed Appointments On False Corpses

  • "Be back soon... I have something I must do immediately."
  • "I'm afraid I'm canceling this appointment. Something urgent came up."
  • "Oh my, they won't like this."
  • "Death calls."
  • "The plague is quite strange."
  • "Something calls to me."

Casting a Reactivated The Plague (heard by the target)

  • "My true identity revealed... YES!"
  • "You will rot with the others!"
  • "How... unfortunate. HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!"
  • "I'm afraid it is your turn to rot in the grave."
  • "Fate sees that you die."
  • "Death... comes..."
  • "I won't be killing you last it seems."
  • "Die. Simple as that."

More quotes soon...

Sounds interesting, Nice Work!

Really awsome, his E really fits his theme. However he feels like a hit and run champion kinda, maybe thats just me, so he can't really sit near the enemy close enough for his passive to be effective unless he is tankier. Also, ADC's like MF can heal 375+ health in a basic attack late game, so I think late game his E would be way too weak. Early game however, his E can be negated so easilly with Dorans Blade, Vlads' Q, potions. His W feels incrediblly powerful if you can pull it off. Overall, the W is cool, but fits more an assassin and trickster and not a disruptor. Its my least favorite part of the kit, but I love the rest. '

He also kinda lacks an ultimate. His W is primarily an escape and would die in teamfights so easilly. His ultimate feels more like a powerful passive, like Kha' Zix evolution, and this leaves him with only two abilities to use in teamfights. The build you suggested makes him quite squishy and thus I doubt he could stay in a teamfight long to use his passive. However if you make his passive too large of a radius, then he becomes too safe. I would rework the W, but maybe its core enough to his kit where you want to keep it. If so, I suggest you give his ultimate an active.

Made some changes to Gutch's W so it's more fitting and makes his kit less binary with more options.
