[Champion Concept] Owylglass, The Dream Catcher

Hey board peeps :D I’m here with a concept that is still in the progress of being created. It’s an idea that has been spooking through my mind for some time now and I’d really like to have your opinions on it. The idea was to work the Tricksters Glass (remember, from blackmarket brawlers) into a champion. I decided to build it into the whimsical nature of a Fea, creating a being from Yordle folklore, based on real life trickster folktales like Rumplestiltskin (Repelsteeltje in my native tongue) and the Sandman (Klaas Vaak). Folklore has been a major inspiration for many of my concepts, so much that I have stringed together multiple concepts with the same theme into my “Storybook Series”, including champions such as; Sham’a, The Candle-Maker (based on spirits of the hearth and the jinn), Chayon, The Shepherd of the Afterlife (based on Psychopomps, which are guides to the dead) and Ethea, The Primordial Spirit (based on apocalypse stories) and some others.

I want you to keep in mind that this is all a work in progress and thus everything is subject to change. I will add more lore and more quotes as well as Gameplay ideas when I have time to create them. In the mean time, if you have any ideas, tips or complaints, feel free to name them. Your feedback is really valuable to me and my process of creating champions :)

Thanks in advance, Candurill.

The Champion:

Name: Owylglass Race: Fea Origin: The Glade (Yordle Mythology)

Appearance: This is NOT my art. It is a picture I found that really represents what I was looking for. The original artist can be found here.

Kit:

-Work in Progress-

Passive, Shifting Coat: Owylglass has another bar with buttons above his health bar. This bar features all champions that are in the game. Pushing a button will allow Owylglass to transform into any allied or enemy champion in game and gain their attack range and basic abilities. He will still have access to his own ultimate and the abilities will scale with his own stats. To all other players (including allies) he will look like the champion he is impersonating, including the health bar colour and name. Enemies can target him however, and towers are not fooled by the illusion. His health bar will seem like the one of the mimicked champion and damage will seemingly be calculated with their max health and defensive stats. His normal health bar will still be hit as if nothing happened, it just won’t be seen by other champions.
The effect will last for 60 seconds, unless it is broken earlier. Upon deactivation, this passive will be on cooldown for another 60 seconds. The effect will end when the duration runs out, Owylglass falls below 35% of his own max health or when the passive is deactivated manually.

Q, Dream Eater: Enemy cast: Owylglass absorbs a dream from a target enemy unit and damages it for 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+ 55% AP) in magic damage. When used on an enemy under the effect of Sleep, the enemy will be dealt an additional 25% of his AP as bonus magic damage and Owylglass will heal himself for 35% of the damage dealt. Allied cast: Owylglass absorbs an allied champions nightmare, removing any negative effect (Slows, Stuns, DoT, etc.) and applying it to himself in stead with a reduced duration (-10% / -20% / -30% / -40% / -50%). Does not work on displacement effects (Knock up/Knock back).

W, Sleeping Sand: Active: Owylglass throws special sleeping sand in a cone in a target direction, dealing 70 / 110 / 150 / 190 / 230 (+ 50% AP) to all targets hit. Enemy champions hit by this ability will become Drowsy. Drowsy champions are slowed by 5% / 12.5% / 15% / 17.5% / 20% every second, up to 2 seconds, after which they fall asleep for 2 seconds. Sleeping champions are effectively stunned, but this effect cannot be Cleansed or dispelled by any means. Drowsy however, can be removed and will not grow into the stun if done so.

E, Sleepwalk: Active: Owylglass and a target allied champion break out of, and becomes immune to, any timed effect (Slows, Stuns, DoT, HoT, Shields, Etc.) for 3 seconds and gain 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% movement speed. After this duration, any effect that was interrupted or resisted with this ability will resume as if nothing happened. Does not work on displacement effects (Knock up/Knock back).

R, Lucid Dream: Cooldown: 110 / 90 / 70 seconds Cost: Passive: Whenever Owylglass impersonates an enemy champion and participates in the takedown of another enemy champion (not the one being impersonated) he gains a Dream. Every stack of Dreams will grant him a permanent 1,5% / 2,5% / 3,5% AP in Magic Damage upon his "Dream Eater" ability, up to a maximum bonus of 25%. He will lose a stack if the enemy champion he is impersonating kills him in stead. Active: Owylglass warps the reality in the area around him creating a Lucid Dream (700 unit radius) for 3 / 4 / 5 seconds. Anything in this Dream is slowed down by 40% / 55% / 70%, including, but not limited to; Champion Attack and Movement Speed, Projectile Speed of Abilities and Auto Attacks, Reaction Speed of Abilities and Movements and any over time effect (such as Stuns, Channels, DoT, Healing, Zhonya’s etc.). Owylglass can lift the effect of this ability on himself with "Sleepwalk", allowing him to move at normal speed. Projectiles are still affected by the "Lucid Dream" however.

Note: Lucid Dream is NOT your average slowing area. Yes it does indeed slow champions down, but it also slows down the speed of projectiles and timed effects. No this does not mean that an over time heal will heal more...If for instance a Garen is caught in this ability and his passive is active, he will still heal the same amount per tick, the tick just takes longer. In stead of 1 second it takes 1.7 second (at max level) per tick. This counts for stuns, slows, DoT's, Polymorph and even Zhonya's. See it as if you play a movie in slow motion...everything just takes longer.

Lore:

-Work in Progress-

The world of dreams, for many people, is as unknowable and strange as any other world would be. It is much debated whether this realm is actually a world all on its own, or just a figment of one’s imagination. Although many good arguments have been given for both theories, the truth is still a mystery. But for all this mystery, one thing is certain...many stories originate from this realm. So too the tale’s surrounding Owylglass...A trickster from Yordle folklore. I have yet to find a record of his first appearance, since the figure has disappeared and resurfaced in one form or another through the ages. Many tales portray him as a sharp and thin looking man, wearing robes of shifting leaves that resembles the forest floor on autumn days. Many believe him to be of Fae origin (although many unexplainable things are written off as Fae tricks by the Yordles, Owylglass being of Fae origin would actually make sense, since he does not seem to age and does not have the same grasp on reality as any normal person has). This however, is only presumed to be his own form, for he is a shape shifter. Many tales speak of him wandering around through people’s dreams in the form of a person the dreamer knows. This can be a family member, a friend, a foe or even just someone they saw in the streets. Once he comes close and gains the trust of said dreamer, he will slowly suck the dream from out of the dreamers head and leave him or her exhausted upon waking up. Although no other bad side effects have been recorded (and he seemingly makes no difference between bad or good dreams, often saving people from horrible nightmares), he is usually seen as an ill omen or mischievous trickster.

Quotes:

-Work in Progress-

How fortunate that not a living soul, knows my true name...” “I knew who I was this morning, but I’ve changed a few times since then...” “You would have to be half mad to dream me up...” “Is this real life? Or just a fantasy...” “Ill met by moonlight, proud opponent...

W couldn't be what it is, just as a skill in the game. it would be very strong as just the slow but with the added uncleansable stun its just too much for a standard skill, it could be an ult as it is but not a W this skill would have an almost 30 second cool down if the range is good.

That being said, I like a lot of what have going on its, a good idea

Just saw this. Looks amazing so far, but needs a bit of balancing I guess. Gonna comment later with more detail (first I'll head to school...)

this champion is very over powered in their kit and the percent gains are quite high I fell like its just item 3041 but a champion and the Tricksters Glass is an interesting concept just keep working out the kinks and they will do fine

I like the idea of everything expect his passive. It seems too...... werid. Doesnt work with any of his skills and overall just makes him a weird champion. Just have an ally that doesnt depend on ulti (jayce nid) and bam ur kinda op now. I really think the passive needs to be reworked

Edit: Made it more detailed, I had limited time before. ABILITIES One thing that concerns me is the passive, it would be broken honestly, not like very op, but would be too absolute. Either too reliable and no-one can't do anything but dodge 2 blitz hooks or play against two Fizzs. Trickster's Glass was fun to play and to play against because it copied only the appearance, and when you disguised as a 100 hp sivir but jumped right into their carries as a 20/2 Talon, nothing was more fun! The W is very counter intuitive, cleanse effects are meant to help all the poor carries have some chance against front-line CC, but this just wouldn't work. E would be an yi ult for you and your ally, but just for 3 seconds so it's ok. Q and Ult are fine as they are, but those two abilities would have to probably be changed/need minor adjustments.

WHAT DO WE NEED: First of all, she has this disguise mechanic, meaning that usually you will disguise as a squishy ally, and when you have baited their carries, you should go all-in and burst them down. So first of all: she would have to be a burst assasin. She would have to be able to deal decent amount of damage within a short window of time. She would have to also have an ability to escape as if their assasin/frontline fighter decides to close in on you.

OVERALL: Concept is really unique and a fun idea to play with. I would give it a 7.5/10, mainly because of the unfair gameplay issues. Have a nice day!

Hey there! let's get to it.

Passive: This is incredibly overpowered. The sheer amount of utility it gives is nothing short of insane. Pose as your jungler and wander around in view bot lane to trick the enemy into trying to baron when the odds aren't necessarily in their favor, then the rest of the team collapses on them once they're vulnerable? Pose as the support or adc wandering around stupidly by themselves to trick an assassin into coming to kill him, then bait him into a trap? Just trick the enemy into wasting valuable cooldowns on you? Make the enemy unable to decide who's who, crippling them with indecision? Or better yet, gain access to the kit of a champion that doesn't necessarily rely on their ultimate. Volibear's a good example of this. The possibilities are endless.

Q: The damage aspect is pretty balanced. The drain might be a bit much. The ally version is incredibly powerful, though, especially because it can trump oddball things like Zed, Trundle, or Fiora's ultimates.

W: Combined with his Q is way too easy to confirm damage. You get points for trying to make it more fair by delaying the cc, but cones are pretty easy to hit depending on their way.

E: Cleanse - even though it's only for a duration - can easily turn the tides in a trade, but in other situations it might not actually help much.

R: Passive is just free power, don't like that sort of design. I honestly don't know what to make of the active, it's very unique but it's also very weird and effects a number of things that shouldn't be effected in game. It's not going to be terribly useful in most situations as it effects both teams evenly and no champ is really made to handle this sort of effect. Using his E to put off the effect can be very useful, but then later on you're suddenly the only person still effected once the duration ends.

He's certainly an interesting champ, but trying to base a concept of time on a champion in a way different to what Ekko and Zilean does is bound to create issues. I honestly can't decide whether to call his kit overpowered or not, as his ultimate is hard to use constructively and his E has some unusual applications, but his W and Q are much simpler. His passive alone is incredibly, however, and the rest of his kit probably makes him more than a little overly versatile.

Lore: His lore doesn't really tell us anything about him. His whole "nobody really is sure of him and he tends to change appearance" kinda reminds me of Bard, but his dream manipulations is interesting at least and kinda leaves me wanting to know what his actual goal is behind that.

So anyways, when you get some time please do me a solid and review Xifeng :) Thanks!
