Am I the only one who doesn't like the "Project" skins

Maybe unpopular opinion..? However I just dont like them. The artwork isnt very appealing, and it just honestly feels like a "mecha" or "battlecast" ripoff gone horribly wrong.

the mecha skins did a good job of turning them into a mechanical (mecha) type of being, with effects included, it actually turned them into a mecha without making it look like they just slapped on a permanent robot costume

the battlecast skins did a good job of portraying the transformation from regular life-like creature to mechanical creature (Ie viktors type of style cus he made them) and they look pretty cool like they were oh I dont know... CAST FOR BATTLE? ;D (pun intended)

but then come along the project skins which take champions that dont even fit the whole "I can see them as a robot" type of deal and I just personally dont like them. they feel like a failed attempt at some kind of tron thing... idk maybe I just prefer stuff that isnt so "LOOK THE FUTURE!" type of deal

EDIT I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE SAID: I'm not saying i dislike the artwork or animations or music that goes along with this, the sound and art team do a good job there, Im talking about the IN GAME SKIN is a let down for me

It's understandable that you'd feel like this. I think it's a bit of a fine distinction in terms of the feel they're shooting for. Battlecast do indeed seem like robots/mecha. (yet where does that leave Mecha Aatrox and Malphite?) In terms of the PROJECT skins, particularly with PROJECT: Yasuo, I think they're looking for a Raiden from Metal Gear Solid/Deus Ex kind of feel. The latter is particularly prevalent in things such as some details in Lucian's design, and the style and locations for the recent Project teaser/trailer/video.

This is the part of the Glorious Evolution that Viktor most likely glosses over: what happens to your mind? When you digitize a mind, do you lose memories? Do you lose who you are? Can the people behind the console not just insert new memories as they please? make you think what they want?

I think it wouldn't be unfair to consider the Battlecast skins the physical side of going from flesh to metal. PROJECT is how the mind is affected. How human beings might be affected. One revels in the awesomeness of robots destroying stuff, the other is awesome too, but is punctuated with existential questions and issues of ethics and humanity. If a human, trained to a high point in martial combat could be considered a 'killing machine', what happens when you take that human and put him into a literal machine body?

I understand what you mean in that they don't seem particularly unique in their designs, though. For me there's a difference between gaudy mecha and good mecha, and while I figured they wouldn't go in the gaudy direction, I wonder if they're a little too muted in terms of individual style. Then again, perhaps with each member being unsure of his or her own personality and/or memories, perhaps that's the point. It seems like a lot of the emphasis went into the particles and the moments of color from their weapons and such, leaving the models themselves very muted. Taken like that, that might have been the only way to keep them otherwise there'd just be too much going on and each skin would just be a gaudy ball of neon with neon effects.

If you look at the Project video, i honestly believe it's the future where the original cast died, an some dude created these PROJECTS after them. I honestly think it's awesome, but of course, to each their own.

In game, I feel like only Leona and Zed (and Yasuo when it was released) hit the mark. The others feel like they're missing something, that it doesn't quite live up to what it should.
