New Ping idea: Good job! ping

Arcade Andrew·2/9/2017, 7:40:49 PM·79 votes·2,490 views

Simple idea: I got the idea from two things A: If you have a chat ban, how can you say good job if youve used up your messages B: a good job ping is quicker and easier to tell somebody good job rather then stopping to type it.

so can we have a good job ping?

edit:

  1. holy crap i didnt expect so many responses, replying now to most of them and
  2. I understand it can be seen as a "BM" ping, but like whenever I help an ally go out and kill somebody i wanna ping them a thumbs up or something like "gj m8 you deserve this ping :D"

I can see this replacing the missing ping to bm teammates with. ADC on your team blindly walks into a bush and gets one shot and then the "Good job!" pings ensue.

I can see this turning into BM, BUT I, personally, wouldn't use it as such. I think letting your teammates know you're proud of them is a great idea. :D

The enemy missing ping serves this purpose

GettemClone2/10/2017, 12:15:19 PM4 votes

and still toxic players will use it to tilt their teammates after fail play xDD

PhoenixOfHeaven2/9/2017, 10:25:14 PM3 votes

Or you could right it out yourself, with love. A Simple 'GJ' Dosnt bring the tingley feelings like 'That was amazing!' Does.

Wolfeur2/10/2017, 12:09:47 PM3 votes

I don't thing that's a good idea, even though it seems like it on paper. When you have to actually type it, you avoid people using it sarcastically.

Jack º2/9/2017, 8:40:26 PM3 votes

This could be used so salt-ly. Miss a bush when warding and you get this "good job!" ping from everyone and you just want to end yourself

Danjeng2/10/2017, 4:02:14 AM3 votes

It's going to be used more like a WTF ping, sort of like missing ping is used now. I would rather they make a "wow" ping. It can be used both sarcastically, or to call attention to someone's play.

Burned flash with no enemies around? Wow ping. Won a 1v2 top lane? Wow ping.

Because a GJ ping is going to be super tilting if some asshat decides to spam it every time you die to your laner.

Maybe the MIA ping will regain its agency if they add this in.

Meritas2/10/2017, 10:39:34 AM2 votes

If it will bring us closer to the "I'm getting myself a cup of coffee, don't invade" ping.

iamthegoatofwar2/9/2017, 8:50:47 PM2 votes

ehh...only if you win a 2v1 or something that is a good job. I'm not going pat you on the back for doing as you're expected.

TrulyBland2/10/2017, 6:11:52 AM2 votes

Love it.

Being able to ping specific players/places with that also might help with situations where one player does something awesome, one player does something awful and typing "gj" can be misconstrued as being sarcastic to the bad player. I know that's probably not such a frequent thing to happen... but honestly I seem to keep running into such situations.

You die

Good job

Good job

Good job

Good job

Good job

Good job

Good job

can the normal ping print out the name of the player so i can report for harassment?

Venomar2/10/2017, 1:12:18 PM1 votes

Presses enter.

gj

Presses enter again.

tacofacefart2/10/2017, 6:11:04 PM1 votes

Its a great idea. fuck the haters.

Mërmaid2/10/2017, 8:29:32 PM1 votes

Yeah..just as others have said, this will just be a replacement for (?).

Which, I mean, I'm all for it. I laugh when people ping (?), and I probably will when they use (Good Job!)

I don't think it's worth it to add to the game. Right now it only takes 1 second or less to type "gj". And the time taken isn't critical anyways, because you're not gonna say GJ in the middle of a fight, even if it only takes 1 click.

aay good job when dying over and over again

CrazyBear19872/11/2017, 1:21:37 AM1 votes

Blizzard changed thier "Sorry" emote to "WOW" emote, cause people were using it to BM.

Kinda like how LOL players are using "Enemies missing" more for the Question mark.

But, I guess if it was a thumbs up emote or somethin, it would be harder to use as BM? it would be less negative for sure

YerroFever2/11/2017, 1:25:36 AM1 votes

Despite the fact that pings can be abused, overall I think this is a GREAT idea. I always like to positively reenforce great plays, good teamwork, etc... so whenever we have a good exchange in lane or good gank, I like letting people know I appreciate their cooperative gameplay.

I would absolutely love a faster and easier way to do this especially considering many times I have to find a safe place to stop and type.

Enselus2/11/2017, 1:35:51 AM1 votes

Probably the only good thing that would come out of this would be that the ? ping would finally actually mean "MIA" most of the time

Fairyfleur2/11/2017, 4:13:50 PM1 votes

I love the idea, but I would rather have a more tactical ping if I had to choose between the two.
