(Champion Concept) Rogtrich, the Thing Within the Swamp

LORE In the lands within Demacia's borders, there is rumored to be a swamp that, to the person who sees it for the first time, is not all that different from others. They avoid it, mark it on the map, and move around it. However, things get a little complicated when they avoid it on the map, find a quicker path, and go that way only to find that, somehow the same swamp seems to have moved. This swamp wasn't there before. Why? The traveler goes through the swamp, being out of decisions, and never sees the light of day again. Rogtrich, the creature behind these disappearances, is a giant monster that dwells within the swamp. Not many have seen his entire visage to tell you exactly what he looks like, but, by combining multiple sightings, it can be put together that he is a ginormous, frog-like monster with monstrous teeth. Most don't believe these legends, but those who have seen the creature are often scarred for life or are not among the living anymore to confirm the tales. http://orig01.deviantart.net/eb0d/f/2014/118/9/a/9a0ec4fa893359861d8fe4fcfada170b-d7garbg.jpg Rogtrich is a tricky beast himself. His appetite is legendary and what he leaves behind's stink is also legendary. Instead of a normal digestion system, Rogtrich vomits up all the pieces of his victims (along with some mysterious, ooze-like substance) that he does not absorb in his stomach and creates incredibly large mounds of his waste all throughout his swamp. This isn't what makes him so unique however. What makes him so strange is how the earth around him seems to transform into a swamp. The dirty water within the earth is drawn out and all the trees nearby begin to twist and turn. The dirt itself becomes incredibly muddy and some have even said that the bones of long dead animals are brought out with the water to float along the swamp. Rogtrich is a living legend that is sought after by many famous hunters with a death wish. None have returned from a hunt that goes after Rogtrich. Not even the largest hunting party that Demacia could muster, being an army of sixty men, could bring down the beast. They all disappeared off the map, save one boy who did not enter into the swamp when the others finally found it. The boy says all he could hear in the distance was what sounded like the deepest, most ground shaking croaking noise he had ever heard. The worst part he says was that he never did hear any screams. He did not hear any explosions, gunshots, or even an angry battle cry. All he could hear as he ran was the chilling croaking of the beast. Rogtrich had consumed the boy's fellow hunters and their remains were not found. Or, at least, no remains that could be identified from one pile of bones to the other. All the weapons found, to make matters worse, had no blood on them, meaning the beast had killed them all without any retaliation. After this disappearance, the king put out a reward for whoever could find out what was killing these men and return with it's head. So, the search was on and all who had the time and had nothing else to live for set out to kill the beast that had killed fifty nine men by itself without any injury to itself. "I... I know what I heard ok. That wasn't a war horn. That... that wasn't any creature I know of. Only one thing could have made that noise. We had set out... out to find it. The beast that moves with the swamp. My fellow men... they went in. I... I... I was a coward. I saw the swamp. I saw what it looked like. That place... that wasn't Demacia anymore. That wasn't Noxus either. It was far worse. The smell... the smell might have been able to kill me by itself if I had stepped any closer. I ran. The other men did not mind. What was losing one man when you had fifty nine others? Apparently... apparently, it did matter. They went in and I ran. It had only been a few minutes when it started up. I swear, I thought I had found my way into a battle between two of them rock monsters. I looked around... nothing. Nothing was around me. I looked back to where the sound was coming from and... the swamp. I turned around to look back and... the swamp... it almost vibrated from the sound. That... thing... it had been found. Or... had it found them? I listened to hear the sound of it's death. It never... it never came. The worst part? I didn't hear anything else. Nothing else but that dreadful croaking. I turned back around and never looked back. I don't care how much the king puts out for that thing's head, I'm never leaving home again... no one can kill it. No one... it... it killed them all...they're... they're dead..." - The Boy Who Lived

KIT Rogtrich, the Thing Within the Swamp Main Role: Juggernaut Secondary Role: Disruptor Health- 685 (+95 per level) Health Regen.- 11 (+0.9 per level) Armor- 33 (+3.3 per level) Magic Resist- 32.1 (+1.25 per level) Movement Speed- 325 Attack Damage- 60.5 (+4.5 per level) Attack Speed- 0.63 (+1.75% per level) Attack Range- 150 (Melee)

Passive- Swamp Dweller Innate: Rogtrich's sheer mass allows him to move through impassable terrain, but also causes him to be unable to gain bonus movement speed.

Ability 1- Waste Piles Active- First Cast: Rogtrich devours all enemy minions and monsters in the target direction, dealing 175/300/425/550/675 (+12% bonus health) true damage to them. This ability can be recast within the next 12 seconds if at least one minion or monster is killed with this ability. Active- Second Cast: Rogtrich upchucks a pile of ooze and remains at the target location that acts as impassable terrain. While this pile of waste does not block the movement or vision of allies and Rogtrich, enemy units cannot see or move through these piles. However, the piles of waste can be destroyed through basic attacks. A pile of waste has 1 Health for every enemy unit killed through the first cast of this ability and increases in size by 30/37.5/45/52.5/60% for every enemy unit killed beyond the first. Piles of waste last until destroyed and an infinite amount can be active at one time, but they cannot overlap with impassable terrain or other piles of waste. Cool Down: 28/24/20/16/12 seconds First Cast Range: 400 Second Cast Range: 450 Second Cast Pile of Waste Base AoE Radius: 250

Ability 2- Tongue Snatch Passive: Rogtrich deals 11/19/27/35/43 (+2% bonus health) magic damage per second to nearby enemies. Active: Rogtrich lashes his tongue out in the target direction very quickly after a small delay, dealing 35/55/75/95/115 (+25% AP) magic damage to the first enemy champion hit and marking them with Swamp Bile for 4.5 seconds. Enemies marked with Swamp Bile will be applied Grievous Wounds and slowed by 15/20/25/30/35% for 2 seconds every time Rogtrich basic attacks them. Cool Down: 19/17.5/16/14.5/13 seconds Range: 575 Projectile Speed: 2300 Projectile Width: 75

Ability 3- Ingest Active: After a 1.25 second delay, Rogtrich bites down on all enemies in the target direction, dealing 130/190/250/310/370 (+75% AP) magic damage to enemies hit, ignoring 30/40/50/60/70% of their magic resist. The cool down of this ability is reduced by 60% if an enemy champion or large monster is hit by it. Cool Down: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds Range: 400

Ultimate- Swamp Monster Passive: After being out of combat for 7 seconds, Rogtrich begins to regenerate 2.5/3.75/5% of it's missing health every second. Active: Rogtrich begins to channel for 2.5 seconds, taking in the energy of life around it. Once he finishes channeling, Rogtrich sacrifices a large chunk of his own health to cause all nearby enemies to take 25/32.5/40% (+4% per 100 AP) of their current health (minimum of 200/300/400 magic damage) as magic damage and all of the land within an extremely large range around him to be transformed into a swamp, becoming muddy and slightly flooded. While within this swamp land, Rogtrich's base movement speed is increased by 35/55/75. The land is permanently converted into a swamp, but casting this ability again will cause the old swamp to disappear when the new swamp is created. If an enemy champion is within the swamp land and Rogtrich is also within the swamp land, they are alerted with a small symbol above their head that looks like a skull. They will also occasionally hear Rogtrich's loud croaks. Cost: 25% Current Health upon completing channel Cool Down: 180/165/150 seconds Damage Explosion Range: 450/525/600 Swamp Land Conversion Range: 3150/3675/4200

Thank you for reading! Rogtrich is my attempt at going back to an old champion theme I had of "lots of impassable terrain placement". He is an incredibly aggressive monster that looks to flood his jungle and the lanes with piles of waste to make traversing them both harder due to having a rather delayed advance and more hazardous due to the loss of vision. A Rogtrich late game can end up dealing significant damage to anyone unfortunate enough to find themselves in his swamp while he is there, especially if they get unexpectedly yanked out from their team through Tongue Snatch due to not seeing Rogtrich through a pile of waste. While he is incredibly oppressive to fight alone, he quickly falls apart when focused by a team and when handled properly by the enemy team's crowd control threats. His lack of decent range and incapability of obtaining bonus movement speed causes him to feel rather sluggish when outside his swamp too.

Good Neighbor Bonus I would recommend checking out this concept. The creator seems to have put a lot of work into it and I can respect hard work. Adorna, the Sonoran Concilator

Now I'll leave you a full review.

As I quoted before, his passive would be disgusting against melee opponents and would suck a lot from his power budget, so he wouldn't really do much than be a walking ward. But as I noticed, he is still crazy strong. He would have to have high base movement speed because he doesn't get bonus mobement speed. His movement speed is very low, meaning that he is too slow to catch anyone and too slow to escape anyone unless there is terrain nearby to walk through.

He does gain some movement speed in the swamp he is in, but as a jungler he doesn't really stay in one area. This would make him better as a toplaner. Also, in his swamp he basically is a satan to all melee champions because they really can't attack him if he uses his passive which causes him to basically ignore all collision, meaning that if used well he is pretty much untouchable.

His Q doesn't help this problem, it's a permanent anivia wall that has health (at least from my understanding), but if you kill a wave of minions with it the wall is really hard to break. This, again, is very annoying to melee opponents. The E is a literal nuke that has high base damage and ignores magic resist. With some AP, this could one-shot tanks, because it ignores the tons of gold they possibly used to get items to defend from Rogtrich's abilities.

Overall, he is very weak when not in his swamp created from his ult because otherwise he has no tools to reach an opponent. He has crazy sticking power though.

Best luck in the CCOS!

I think his biggest problem is his passive. It was tested on Ao Shin, but it didn't work. Here is the context:

[{quoted}](name=Rabid Llama,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=cfEdVAJd,comment-id=00020003,timestamp=2016-03-17T19:52:51.452+0000)

We've poked around with kits having that kind of flight in the past, and even on Ao Shin and Aurelion - either permanent flying or a long-duration toggle or being able to hop walls really often. Unfortunately, it does gross things to melee opponents, since they can just never hit you more than once. Going over walls is so powerful that having a character that 1) can ignore walls and 2) has a vision radius is already like 80% of a champion's regular power budget.

I think some kind of pure-support character could pull it off (e.g. spotter zeppelin), but they'd end up being even more niche than Bard, and for Aurelion we wanted something more straightforward than that.

While some of his abilities would need to be nerfed a bit, this is a really cool idea. I particularly like the ability to move through impassible terrain, but no extra movement speed.
