So we now have a brief understanding of how the new champion works...

Demacian Heart - Universe of League of Legends

Given the images and the story, it seems that as receives reduced damages from champion Ultimates and gets the ability to cast them himself. I think it's pretty good. As well, he's able to track/detect "magic" in a way kinda like Warwick's sensing mechanic. That's two abilities, or at least an ability and a passive. If he keeps the dagger that was mentioned, that means he's melee and most likely AN ASSASSIN YAAAAHOOOOOOOO probably not tho lol

I'm actually excited to see how he plays.

Riot's actually trying to make a Demacian AD assassin?

I just want to see about how close everyone's come to this. xD

I remember there being something about chains in some teaser art that I saw. It would be really cool if the champion used the chains as their weapons.

His ability in the story is the ability to detect other peoples' magic and seemingly absorb it. He was imprisoned with petricite chains (petricite absorbs magic so Demacia who hate mages use it all around their city). My guess is that petricite doesn't actually nullify or destroy magic but absorb it, so he kept the chains after he broke out of the prison to absorb other peoples' magic through them. He chains people, the chains suck their magic out, because he also absorbs magic he can take it into himself like batteries. That's my guess.

Y'know, now that I'm thinking more on this, what if the chains themselves aren't what the focus should be one? As you said, they kept him in chains. But what if the visions weren't about him chaining up champions (since those are factually visions and not actual events) but instead those champions playing his role. It's not like he was a prisoner--he was free to travel and work as a Mageseeker or whatever they're called, but still he was chained down by his superiors and by extension Demacia. While he was under Demacia, he was forced to use his magic for them.

So the visions were of those champions being tied by Demacian rule, their abilities having to be used by Demacian command even if those champions felt like it was wrong.

The entire purpose of his story was to show that he didn't want so use his abilities for those things, but he had to because he was a Demacian soldier. The images cleanly depict the same thing but using different champions in his role.

Man this is getting Area 51 levels of deep.

There's no mention of chains in his story, so I believe that those are merely metaphoric chains. Maybe they'll incorporate them into his gameplay, though.

I'm willing to bet the chains will 100% be incorporated in gameplay. Ity's the champs signature right now. It would be weird without it...

I mean, not really? Those chains aren't anything specific--they're Demacia's standard shackles for magicians. ALL magicians in Demacia who are locked up wear them. I feel that it'd actually be weirder if he did use them.

I doubt he's an assassin dude. Probably a control mage/ battlemage

Well, yeah. He is a mage, after all. But so's Kassadin, and he's an assassin.
