Verri, the Maiden of Glass

Role: Marksman

Lore: A former member of the Noxus' infamous Black Rose, Verri is shrouded in mystery. All that is known for certain is that this crafty mage of glass is willing to lend her abilities to the highest bidder, regardless of alliance or purpose. There are those who've attempted to bribe information out of her, but the she always manages to dodge the questions in her often care-free and sometimes flirtatious tone of voice and outlook on life. Clients and summoners who spent the most time with Verri have stated that her tone has never changed; even during her heated arguments with LeBlanc, which are what started the speculation that she has left the shadowy Noxian organization.

(Verri's concept is inspired by the RWBY character Neo, or Neapolitan. See reference image below.)

Passive - Scattered Shards: Whenever Verri casts one of her abilities, she leaves shards of broken glass in the affected area for a few seconds. These areas deal magic damage to all enemies who walk through them. This damage does not stack.

Q - (Name in progress): Verri sends a wave of glass shards forward, dealing physical damage to enemies in a line. (Insert ability name here) leaves Scattered Shards along it's travel path.

W - (Name in progress): Verri creates an orb of glass and lobs it to target location. Upon landing the orb will shatter, dealing AoE physical damage and leaving Scattered Shards.

E - (Name in progress): For a few seconds, the next increment of damage that Verri receives will be reduced by 50%. When this happens, Verri will blink away from the nearest enemy champion, leaving behind a glass double that will shatter in that instant. The shattering double will deal AoE physical damage and leave Scattered Shards.

R - (Name in progress): Verri begins turning a target champion into glass. If the champion is an enemy, they lose Movement Speed and Armor and have a small percent chance to die instantly upon losing 1/4th of their maximum health. Should the target champion (allied or enemy) die during the ability's duration they will explode, dealing AoE physical damage and leaving Scattered Shards.

Quotes(A work in progress) Selection: Ready and waiting, summoner.

Moving: Over there? Sounds good. Be there shortly.

Taunt: Time to smash your hopes and dreams.

**__

Interactions:

Leblanc(ally): If you've got the smoke, I've got the mirrors. (enemy): So... you're lying again right now, aren't you?

Side note: I do understand that some people may be a little upset that Verri isn't quite "complete". I've never been good with numbers, so I tend not to use them in ANY of my concepts. I deem it to be better than trying and screwing up horribly. As for quotes and the ability names... I just couldn't really think of any, but didn't want to run the risk of forgetting about this concept. I'm open to any and all suggestions for quotes and ability names, though any that I find to be nothing more than "troll options" will simply be noted and then discarded. I DO hope you enjoyed Verri's concept, and look forward to any ideas that viewers my offer up for her lines and abilities.

I love this kit! There are so many combo's and possibilities!

I'd like to see the damage numbers, AP ratios, and channel times. This kit could go places!

If you need to look up words for the ability names, do what I did for my champion concept. You can find it here, please check it out! Grab a thesaurus, and search words for "glass" or "shatter".

Some cool new mechanics here, please go into more detail. I'd like more backstory as well.

Can you control where you blink with the E, or is it defaulted to go away from the enemy?

Please check out my champ concept and leave me some critique there. Thanks!

Overall very interesting concept, but there are some small things that might need tweaks:

First off why do her abilities deal physical damage ? It's just a small thing and I doubt many people worry about this, but it feels very odd for me. For a marksmen she seems to lack a steroid to boost her AA making her seems more like an AD mage than a marks(wo)man. Damage reduction, blink and AOE damage at once seems a bit much. I think it's a bit unfair for melee champions when your opponent suddenly jumps away with little you can do about it. A delay on the effect (visual indicator so people can avoid wasting AA or Nukes at her) seems to make the most sense to me. Her ultimate seems odd as it is the only ability that doesn't involve shooting glass and instead morphs enemies into glass. Why can I cast her ultimate on allies when there is no real benefit ? "a small chance to die" is a big no for me: First of it's probs RNG and secondly it feels overpowered when used on specific champions (Mundo, Olaf, Tahm) where 1/4 of their maximum health doesn't really pose a big threat to them.

Best regards, A customer of the Bilgewater Tavern

Hey! Here are my thoughts on Veri, The Glass Maiden!! ^_^

I'm just saying I can't give you a proper review without numbers, I know you mentioned you don't like them but please try becasue numbers provide so much information on your concept and tell me what you're aiming for. For an example are your cooldowns low and her spells spammable or does she hit really hard but with moderate cooldowns, stuff like that.

ADC?: I honestly don't see any reason to play Veri as an ADC, she has no way of buffing her AAs and really isn't encouraged to AA at all. I think she would be better suited as either a mage or AD caster. She's very spell related so it makes more sense for her to be a caster.

R: Nobody likes RNG, even if it's a small percent instakills are not fun and don't fit in with a competitive game like lol. Imagine if everytime morde ulte you rolled a die, if you roll a 1 you die instantly, it isn't fun. Besides that I like the concept but don't think it's very practical. There is too much time to prepare for it and render it useless and it really only helpful when you catch someone when they're extremely clumped.

Synergy/Common Theme: Do you think your abilities all work toward a common theme or have synergy? I'm not talking about thematically she's a glass mage I got that but gameplay wise. From what I've read she's some kind of consistent caster who wants to spam her spells and just litter the battlefield with broken glass but her kit does not reward her for doing so and it doesn't help her achieve this fantasy(Sort of:/ I mean you have a ton of AOE but that's vaguely synergy).

Questions:

Here are some questions I like to ask to hep people with their concepts, hope these help you out.

-Why should play Verri over any other champion in this game?

If I want to play a safe caster with spammable abilities why don't I just play blue Ezreal? Ezreal has extremely safe abilities, they're incredibly spammable becasue of his Q, and because of his range and mobility he's insanely safe. Why should I pick Verri over him?

-Imagine playing your favorite champion in your favorite lane in a game versus Verri, how do you deal with her/play around her? Do you think she's fair?

I agree with what's been stated by others regarding how her abilities do not reflect her theoretical marksman role.

Her passive is neat and pushes her identity towards zoning caster. It could generate a lot of decisions if it functioned similarly to Brand's passive where hitting an enemy standing on Scattered Shards produces bonus effects. If you wanted to keep her as an ADC, perhaps a 3-hit passive? Otherwise giving bonus effects to her other abilities (CC, bonus damage, partial cooldown refund, etc.) could bring more diversity to her play pattern and bring more impact to her zone control and cooldown management (Do I want to cast my ability on top of my previous one for bonus effects or spread them out over a wider area?).

E can be very frustrating or very interesting depending on its implementation. If it is similar to Fiora's Riposte in terms of duration, it could be quite interesting and offer a neat mechanic to play around with. If the duration is too long or the cooldown too short, I can see it become frustrating for enemies to deal with. Assassins that blink to the far side of their target would really ruin Verri's day, while assassins that blink to the near side of their target would find her frustrating to deal with. Something to think about- How does it interact with CC? Do things like Stuns and roots apply before the blink? After? Do they get canceled? What happens if she gets hit with a hook?

I think it would be neat if her ult played off of the idea of the glass cannon (It could be named glass cannon). If you're focusing on the caster aspect, perhaps something along the lines of "increases CDR cap by 50% (total of 60% CDR) and scales her CDR accordingly (like Kog'maw's W except with CDR instead of attackspeed). Verri takes 20% of incoming damage as true damage for the duration." If you're focusing on the marksman aspect, perhaps something along the lines of "Verri empowers her autoattacks consuming 2% of her current health to deal 5% of the target's maximum health as magic damage per hit"

Other things to think about: Q and W don't really explore glass as a medium. Sure shards of glass are really painful, but glass can do a lot more than break. Glass can bend and redirect light (fibre optics, magnifying glasses, microscopes). It can allow light to pass while blocking physical objects (windows). I think a glass manipulator is a really cool concept for a champion, but currently the kit could be for a fire mage, and would make equivalent sense. It might be fun to name her basic abilities "Reduce", "Reuse", and "Recycle". Verri's lore doesn't fit her reference art (admittedly the reference art is a completely different character). The art doesn't scream "Noxus" or "glass". The clothing style and color palette could almost fit the Piltover aesthetic (Debonair skin line).

Wow. Almost everyone so far is just getting on me about my choice to mark Verri as a Marksman. But that's actually a good thing, as it opens my eyes to a... thematic flaw in her design (for lack of a better term). I'm certainly happy to see that I'm getting a lot of constructive criticism, though I'm NOT happy with my own inability to act on the information I've been given at this moment. However, everything thus far has been noted, and I fully intend to put the all the remarks I've been given to use when I actually have the time to do more than type out a "Hey guys, I AM seeing the feedback you're giving me" message. I certainly do appreciate all this constructive criticism, and hope for more to keep coming so that we can get Verri to be as good as she can possibly be. Those of you who've given feedback so far (and chose to check back on Verri), I'll reply to your messages once I've made adjustments so that you may see how things are coming along. Thank you again.
