Lazadis, the Whisper of the Sands
Alrighty, this is a champ idea that I've had for quite a while. I posted a very rough early draft back on the old forums, but here is the updated version. I don't have any art done for it (as I have no artistic talent), but I've written a few ideas on what I'd like him and his animations to look like.
Lazadis, the Whisper of the Sands
Appearance: Flowey desert clothes (sandy-blonde, earthen brown, bleach bone white), brown hair, darker skin, goggles, cowl. Wields a spear, and carries a saber on his sash.
Lore: Although known for his hatred of all magic, the powers of the void hold a special place in Lazadis’s rage.
Deep within the blazing winds of the Shurima desert, Lazadis was raised under the belief that magic was a gift bestowed upon those who would bring great gifts to Runeterra. And none were more blessed in this then Malzahar, the Seer of his village. Seen as a herald of greatness, Lazadis worshipped the ground at the other man’s feet, seeing him as hero and an idol. Yet sadly, Malzahar vanished into the dessert, and Lazadis feared his hero was claimed by the desert sun. His prayers for Malzahar’s safe return were answered, in the worst way. Now claimed by madness,
Malzaher the Prophet of the Void unleashed his dark power upon the village, killing all those who stood in his way, before he vanished off to spread the word of the void. Left alive in the wake of this carnage, Lazadis could only think of one thing that could cause his idol to do such a horrid thing: magic.
Now Lazadis seeks to wipe out the plague of magic that has gripped Runeterra for so long. Armed with a sacred blade uncovered in the depths of the dessert, Lazadis journeys to find all those who would wield the cursed power of magic. But first, Malzahar…
“My power was tempered by the desert winds, forged white-hot by my rage, and wielded with the promise of vengeance.” –Lazadis
The lore needs work. No really. It's BAD! I want him to be all anti-Malzahar, but other then that, if anyone has a better idea for the lore, I'm open to suggestions
Quotes:
Selection: Cure the plague of Magic.
Movement: Harsh sun Among the dessert winds No longer afraid Pride in mortality Deifying fate Their time shall end But a single grain of sand Naught but a whisper on the wind A shadow in the dessert
Attack: Burn it away! Tainted souls The curse of magic I end your torment. Foul magic
When
Malzahar is on the field:
Out of my way
He will be found
My vengeance will not be delayed

Traitor!
They were your people!
AHHHHH!!!
I'll kill you!!! Malzahar!
Joke: I don’t do funny. Joke? How about the death of every one I ever loved? … yeah, didn’t think so.
Taunt: You are a grain of sand, merely waiting to be blown away. The only cure is death.
Dance: No.
Laugh: Dry Laugh. Humourless Laugh

Your lust for power cost you your kingdom.
Betrayed by the magic you sought to control. How delightfully ironic.

You wish to turn the power of the void against itself? It’ll tear you apart.
Your cause is just, but your mind tainted.

Malzahar:
I will end you!
To think I once called you ‘friend’.
The man I knew is dead. Only cursed magic remains.
You will bleed.
You think the void has removed your fear? Let’s test that theory.
Malzahar!!!

Statistics: Health: 404 (79) Hp Regen: 6.1 (+0.8) Mana: N/A Range: 150 Ad: 50 (4) AS: 0.65 (3.33%) Armor: 18 (2.8) MR: 35 (1.3) MS: 340
Abilities:
Spell Breaker (innate): Lazadis’s critical hits stun the target for 0.75 seconds and causes all of the enemy’s abilities to gain 1 second of cooldown. Can only occur once every 30 seconds. Additonal critical hits against enemies while this is on cooldown will reduce the cooldown by 0.5 seconds.
In addition, while this ability is on cooldown, Lazadis’s critical hits deal an additonal 15% of his magic resist in physical damage.
I feel someone who has trained to fight mages should be able to interrupt them and make it more difficult for them to cast. This might be a little ambitious, as I have no idea how difficult the code would be, but the concept is to cool not to add in.
Searing Strikes (q): Cooldown: 13/12.5/12/11.5/11s For the next 4 seconds, Lazadis’s basic attacks deal an additional 15/30/45/60/75 (+60% bonus ad) physical damage, plus an additional 2/4/6/8/10% ad for every 5% of the enemies missing mana. If the champion does not have mana, the attacks will deal an additional 4/8/12/16/20% ad regardless of the state of their resource (if any).
A powerful damaging buff that punishes those that have been casting without care.
Blessed Saber (w): Cooldown: 13s Range: 350 radius Lazadis slashes with his saber, dealing 70/100/130/160/190 (+100% bonus ad) physical damage and interrupting all enemies hit. If an enemy is below 30% of their max health, or was casting a spell when this ability hits, they are silenced for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds.
Simplicity itself. Just a quick slash and silence to mess some things up. I do understand that having an Assassin character with a silence might be too powerful, especially an AOE, which is why I switched it to be dependant on if they are casting.
Spear Rush (e): Cooldown: 22/21/20/19/18s Range: 375 Lazadis lunges a short distance in target direction, removing all movement-impairing effects. Once he reaches the end, he stabs with his spear, dealing 110/115/120/125/130% ad physical damage to an enemy within 200 units (prioritising champions, then units within kill range, then closest enemies). This ability cannot pass through most walls, but will pass over ledges (such as those found by Blue Buff.) If this ability kills a unit or strikes an enemy champion, Lazadis gains 40/45/50/55/60% increased movement speed for 1 second.
A quick positioning tool. Although the bonus damage and the repositioning are nice, the real value of this ability is the power to remove movement speed debuffs, allowing Lazadis to escape deadly situations, or save friends in need.
Ghost of Vengeance (r): Cooldown: 80/60/40s Range: 600/900/1200 Lazadis vanishes in a cloud of sand, before reappearing above target location after 0.5 seconds and landing hard, dealing 175/200/225% attack damage to the closest enemy champion and silencing them for 1.5 seconds. If Lazadis kills a silenced enemy champion, this abilities cooldown is refreshed.
A quick, powerful assain's tool with possible reset. Nothing to see here.
_All in all, I think the kit gives Lazadis that quick, powerful mage-hunter feel. The numbers given are a very rough draft, and I am always open to suggestions on how to tweak things to make him a more balanced, realistic champion. _
Animations: Auto Attacks: Stabs and swipes with his spear. Criticals: Vicious downward stab with the spear. Same animation for Spell Breaker. Movement: Quick steps with spear behind him in one hand. Higher speed has him hunch over closer to the ground. Idle: Looks around, keeping fairly low and hunched over. Occasionally jabs the ground with the butt of his spear. Joke: Overly-flashy spear twirl. Taunt: Jab spear viciously into the ground, then point out towards enemy, before making clenching fist. Death: Tries to hold himself up with spear, before sliding to the ground. Dance: Sits down cross-legged. Searing Strikes: Reddish orange sand swirls around the tip of his spear. Blessed Saber: Grabs Saber from his sash and slashes around him, leaning forward and back to get full circle. Spear Rush: Kick off from the ground, lunging forward. Ghost of Vengeance: Sand swirls around Lazadis, obscuring sight of him, then clears away to show him gone. Sand forms above target area and Lazadis descends from it, stabbing downwards into nearby champion or ground.
And there you have it. Not the most complex and unique champ idea out there, but I think there are some sold concepts in the character. If you like what you see, or if you spot something you think needs tweaking, please feel free to leave comments below. I like comments.
