Champion Idea: Kaiden, The Selfish Sniper

Billcurme here. Today I bring you a champ that I've wanted to see in league for a bit now. I don't do carry's as much as the other champ styles, so please bare with me, and as always your reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Kaiden, The Reckless Ranger A Billcurme and Cryptekz champ idea

Appearance: Young man with a high-society steampunk get-up. Wild brown hair, no beard, sharp looks. Very large steam-punk Great Bow.

Skin Ideas: Midevil Kaiden: Green tunic, robin-hood hat. Classic wooden bow. Throws out an apple for his W.

Statistics: Health: 515 (+78/level) Hp Regen: 5.75 (+0.55/level) Mana: 330 (+37/level) Mana Regen: 7.255 (+0.50/level) Ad: 51 (+4/level) As: 0.6 (+3%/level) Armor: 21 (+3/level) Mr: 30 Ms: 325 Range: 650

Abilities: Above it All (Innate): While standing beside a wall or terrain a silhouette will appear on that wall that Kaiden can click to construct a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret on the terrain with 2 hp over 2 seconds. Kaiden can then click on the ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret to climb into it, becoming untargatable, and gaining increased vision range and the ability to see over walls. Kaiden can only have 3 Encampments at a time. If Kaiden goes to create another Encampment, the earliest one he made is removed.

Moving while perched in an Encampment will cause Kaiden to exit the Encampment. After exiting an Encampment, Kaiden must wait 15 seconds before entering another Encampment. Killing an enemy champion will instantly remove this lock-out.

Encampment’s take 1 damage from Champion basic attacks. Destroying an Encampment grants the enemy 15 gold. Encampments are instantly destroyed by Turret shots. If Kaiden is in an Encampment while it is destroyed, he falls to the ground and is stunned for 1 second.

This ability has a 180/140/100/60 second cooldown.

Trick Shot (q): Cooldown: 12s
Mana Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 Range: 750 Kaiden fires a trick arrow in target direction, dealing 60/70/80/90/100 (+70%ad) physical damage to the first enemy hit. If the arrow strikes terrain or Kaiden’s Drone from Target Practice, it will bounce at an angle back as a cone of 3-7 arrows, each dealing 80/95/110/125/140 (+90% ad) physical damage to the first enemy hit. The number of arrows released is increased the farther the initial arrow travelled. Angle of the bounce is determined by the angle at which Kaiden strikes the terrain or Drone.

While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, the cooldown of this ability is reduced to 6 seconds.

Target Practice (w): Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10s Mana Cost: 40 Range: 1500 Kaiden tosses out a target drone with 2 hp in target direction, which he can attack with an additional 200 range. If Kaiden destroys the drone, it explodes, dealing 100/125/150/175/200 (+75% ad) physical damage to enemies around it and revealing the area for 3 seconds. Enemies can attack and destroy the drone, earning 20 gold.

While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, this abilities range is increased to 2000, and can always be attack by Kaiden while within the Encampment.

(Striking the Drone with his Trick Shot will count as a basic attack against it, helping to cause the detonation faster.)

Itchy Fingers (e): Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16s Mana Cost: 70 Passive: If Kaiden has gone 6 seconds without damaging someone, he becomes Impatient, causing his next 2 attacks against non-structures to have max attack speed. While perched in a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, this is reduced to 3 seconds. If Kaiden leaves an Encampment while Impatient, he loses Imptient and gains 50 move speed towards enemy champions for 1 second. This movement speed ends if Kaiden takes an action.

Active: Kaiden gets fed up with waiting and begins firing rapidly for 5 seconds. While this ability is active, Kaiden gains 30/32.5/35/37.5/40% bonus attack speed. This bonus ends if Kaiden does not move towards enemy champions or take an action for 0.5 seconds.

If Kaiden is perched in a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, this ability instead grants Kaiden 15/20/25/30/35% attack speed for 4 seconds. This bonus is removed if Kaiden stops attacking or casting abilities for 0.5 seconds, or if he leaves the ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret.

Watch This! (r): Cooldown: 100/90/80s Mana Cost: 100 Range: Global Passive: While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, Kaiden’s basic attacks and Trick Shot gain an additional 100/150/200 range

Active: Kaiden fires his ultimate arrow, launching a thin global projectile in target direction. This arrow deals 150% ad physical damage to the first enemy champion hit plus additional damage based on distance travelled. If the arrow strikes an enemy champion, the arrow bounces in the direction of the mouse and gets faster, and gains 30% increased damage. This arrow will continue to bounce off of enemy champions until it leaves the map.

Projectile Details: Speed: 1700 Additional speed per bounce: 350 Width: 75 Additional damage calculation: 5 damage per 100 travelled

Lore: Life has always been an easy one for Kaiden Zatz. Born the only son of a brilliant Zaun scientist, Kaiden has grown up in a life of refinement and pleasure, wining and dining with the upper crust of Zaun and Noxus all his life. While by no means cruel, Kaiden has never had a drive to do anything for anyone but himself, as others have done for him his entire life. Though a brilliant man in his own right, Kaiden has never had the drive to invent for anything other then personal enjoyment, seeing the world as nothing more than his personal playground.

It was one of his father’s hunting trips to the Kumungu Jungle that inspired Kaiden to embrace his natural talents. Bored with the simplicity of hunting with guns, Kaiden took up the bow instead, reveling in the challenge--as well as his own skill with the weapon. Finally finding something to help starve off his ever increasing boredom, Kaiden embraced the weapon with more enthusiasm then anything before in his life. Finally utilising his innate genius, Kaiden crafted a bow unlike any before. Though technologically advanced, this gigantic weapon still required great skill to use--a perfect blend of the challenge he sought and the superiority he craved. Striking out with his huge creation in tow, Kaiden wanders throughout Runeterra, seeking not justice or glory, but simply something to keep him entertained.

The Bow Base materials include choice pieces of wood obtained from the Kumungu Jungle, treated with Zaunite Synthetic Bio-Fluid, plated with flex-steel and held together with Mega-Adhesive contracted from Singed. Made to stand roughly 188cm tall. Smart-plates implanted to aid in maintaining proper curve and tautness.

String was created using micro-fibres extracted from several choice piece of metal, cured with Zaunite treating acid. Result is incredibly sturdy while maintaining flexibility, though incredibly sharp. Specialised gloves needed to draw bow-string without self-injury.

Additional modifications include detachable scope to aid with aiming and spotting target, on board gauges to help track stress on the bow, and snack compartment in case of emergency.

It is of my opinion that this is my greatest creation. I'm dubbing this 'The Windkiller Mark II.' Paired with Scatter arrows, Zaun-tech guided arrows, and the Zaunian Eye scouting drone, I believe I am prepared for any challenge.

Preparations for the creation of 'The Windkiller Mark III' will begin shortly.

Upon Respawning: Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Don’t worry ladies: I’m still here.

Is it sad that I kinda want to add more quotes? Particularly for items, attacking and movement. Still, this will hopefully give you a decent insight into the personality of this glorious douchnozzel of a champ.

I am in no-way expecting this to get very far, but as this concept is near-and-dear to my heart, I'm looking forward to the brutal criticism to help me shape this champ idea into something reminiscent of a decent champ concept.

Ive put some thought into the mechanics and the short lore you have. i want to say Im glad you thought of ways to add clear counter play to this character unlike some concepts i usually see, but i think you added to much that it makes him a bit weak (with his W and E). i also think most of the ability's step a bit outside of his theme and you have the counter play in the wrong parts of the character (put more of his power into when hes immobile). Although the themes of this champion are overlapping with Jhin and Draven personality wise you could still make this unique.

i think the abilitys could go more like:

Passive - The Waiting Game: After not moving or taking damage for 2.5 seconds Kaiden takes a knee, gaining (50 + 5 per level (+20% of Bonus attack speed)) increased ability range. and after 4 seconds of dealing no damage he becomes Inpatient. this ability goes on a 4 second cooldown when taking damage.

this moves the passive of his ultimate into this one making it a better transition through the game.

Q - Trick Shot: after a 0.25 second delay he fires an arrow in a target direction dealing 50/70/90/110/130(0.3 AD) physical damage to the first enemy hit. it then breaks into three bolts behind the original target in a cone dealing 25/35/45/55/65(0.15 AD) per bolt. while in The Waiting Game the cooldown is reduced to 4 seconds.

if this projectile hits a wall it will break into the three bolts in the opposite angle.

Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds Cost: 45/50/55/60/65 mana Range: 500 / 250 cone

note that both the cone range and projectile range will be increased by your passive making his passive more core to his kit. the cooldown when he is in The Waiting Game makes it easier for him to hold a spot down utilizing the most of his clearing.

W: not much to say about it

E - Earthen Quiver: Passive - Inpatient: after 4 seconds of dealing no damage when in The Waiting Game he becomes Inpatient.his next basic attack gains (50 + 5 per level) bonus range and is guaranteed 20/30/40/50/60% increased movement speed when he moves toward the hit target for 3 seconds. he loses this once he moves without hitting an enemy. (12/10/8/6/4 second cooldown)

Active: Kaiden drops his quiver to the ground at his feet for 8 seconds. When Kaiden is standing near an Earthen Quiver, he gains 30/35/40/45/50% bonus attack speed. Earthen quivers break when Enemies step on the Earthen Quivers to destroy them, the duration runs out, or until Kaiden has fired 4/5/6/7/8 enhanced shots from them.

i feel that it would play more into him being a rich boy when nothings happening and gets anxious to shot something.

over all i think you could do a bit more exploration to develop a unique neash to give him something special that he can only do that has'nt been done.

Hello, just saw your entry and I thought I'd critique it.

First I want to get out what I though when i first read the title. I'll be honest I was a little skeptical when I saw someone trying to bring in another sniper type character but looking over the kit I can see it's a little more unique than Cait and Jhin. Little too late to do so now but I feel he could have a better title than "sniper", selfish though I feel is fine.

Passive: ...um, ok. It's definitely unique on a character like this, especially for an adc, but I feel this has some issues. First ADC's are more known for kiting while this guy kinda acts like a stand still artillery, kinda like reworked Kog'Maw before Riot when back. But like Kog there are problems, such as this guy mostly trying to position himself and set up for teamfights so he can make the most out of his passive but the problem with that is the enemy can just move away and if he has to move it will mean time to set up again before yet again the enemy team moves away. Granted the set up time is fairly short and he does gain damage reduction so it kinda makes sense for him to actually remain still but I just want to point out my concerns.

Q: Overall I like this ability. It kinda feels like Hanzo's multishot, which as far as I know off the top of my head doesn't exist in League yet. However from what I read it's when it bounces off your W or terrain is that it comes back to you. Why not make it ricochet? Also I feel like the ratio are a bit high, mostly for the multi arrow part, but that's just my opinion.

W: Again, I like this ability. I can easily see this comboing with your Q to get the explosion off as well as the multi arrow. Not bad.

E: Not bad but I'm a little confused on the wording. So if he gains impatience while moving he gains bonus MS until he attacks a unit and when he's in his siege mode his attacks shoot faster? Active, yet again, fits in with the hold still character but I feel the passive is enough, just say whenever he attacks an enemy champion when he gains impatience on the move he gains bonus AS for X seconds or something, with him standing still being the best bonus since it's maxed. Again, not terrible but I'm just offering ideas.

R: .... probably my least favorite part of this whole kit. To me this just feels a tad too powerful. You could easily launch this from your base to the enemies and when you do you just insta kill them because there's no damage cap for how far it travels. As well, I get the idea of "oh look at me and my awesome skillshot" but having the arrow just redirect to your cursor and, from what I can tell deal the same damage to any other champions hit doesn't seem fun for the other team. Like the theme it goes in, hate how you executed it.

Lore: Not really that bad I guess, but he just didn't seem that interesting. To me he almost feels like Fiora except he just wants to show off his skills instead of searching for an opponent and doesn't really want to break from norms of society + a mix of Draven except he isn't as egotisic in the way he is. I feel like you could really flesh this guy out with something that makes me want to have him be in book to him or something. Hell that's how I always feel about character lore.

Overall I do really like the concept of the character and most of the kit, but I just feel like the lore of this guy could be done a bit better as well as possibly a better ult since we kinda already have Ashe's and Jinx's. Other than that, keep up the good work and best of luck to you in the contest.

I don't really think the passive will be useful at all. It's a bit like teemo's passive. You can't use it in combat or in trades.

After looking over the judging and pondering a bit, I've decided to try and change up Kaiden a bit to see if this would work a bit better. Thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated!

Kaiden, The Restless Ranger

**Above it All (Innate): **While standing beside a wall or terrain a silhouette will appear on that wall that Kaiden can click to construct a ZT-35 Treetop Encampent Turret on the terrain with 2 hp over 2 seconds. Kaiden can then click on the ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret to climb into it, becoming untargatable, and gaining increased vision range and the ability to see over walls. Kaiden can only have 3 Encampments at a time. If Kaiden goes to create another Encampment, the earliest one he made is removed.

Moving while perched in an Encampment will cause Kaiden to exit the Encampment. After exiting an Encampment, Kaiden must wait 15 seconds before entering another Encampment. Killing an enemy champion will instantly remove this lock-out.

Encampment’s take 1 damage from Champion basic attacks. Destroying an Encampment grants the enemy 15 gold. Encampments are instantly destroyed by Turret shots. If Kaiden is in an Encampment while it is destroyed, he falls to the ground and is stunned for 1 second.

This ability has a 180/140/100/60 second cooldown.

Trick Shot (q): Cd: 12s Range: 750 Mana: 60/65/70/75/80 Kaiden fires a trick arrow in target direction, dealing 60/70/80/90/100 (+70%ad) physical damage to the first enemy hit. If the arrow strikes terrain or Kaiden’s Drone from Target Practice, it will bounce at an angle back as a cone of 3-7 arrows, each dealing 80/95/110/125/140 (+90% ad) physical damage to the first enemy hit. The number of arrows released is increased the farther the initial arrow travelled. Angle of the bounce is determined by the angle at which Kaiden strikes the terrain or Drone.

While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, the cooldown of this ability is reduced to 6 seconds.

Target Practice (w): Cd: 14/13/12/11/10s Range: 1500 Mana: 40 Kaiden tosses out a target drone with 2 hp in target direction, which he can attack with an additional 200 range. If Kaiden destroys the drone, it explodes, dealing 100/125/150/175/200 (+75% ad) physical damage to enemies around it and revealing the area for 3 seconds. Enemies can attack and destroy the drone, earning 20 gold.

While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, this abilities range is increased to 2000, and can always be attack by Kaiden while within the Encampment.

(Striking the Drone with his Trick Shot will count as a basic attack against it, helping to cause the detonation faster.)

Itchy Fingers (e): Cd: 24/22/20/18/16s Range: N/A Mana: 70 Passive: If Kaiden has gone 6 seconds without damaging someone, he becomes Impatient, causing his next 2 attacks against non-structures to have max attack speed. While perched in a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, this is reduced to 3 seconds. If Kaiden leaves an Encampment while Impatient, he loses Imptient and gains 50 move speed towards enemy champions for 1 second. This movement speed ends if Kaiden takes an action.

Active: Kaiden gets fed up with waiting and begins firing rapidly for 5 seconds. While this ability is active, Kaiden gains 30/32.5/35/37.5/40% bonus attack speed. This bonus ends if Kaiden does not move towards enemy champions or take an action for 0.5 seconds.

If Kaiden is perched in a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, this ability instead grants Kaiden 15/20/25/30/35% attack speed for 4 seconds. This bonus is removed if Kaiden stops attacking or casting abilities for 0.5 seconds, or if he leaves the ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret.

Watch This! (r): Cd: 100/90/80s Range: Global Mana: 100 Passive: While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, Kaiden’s basic attacks and Trick Shot gain an additional 100/150/200 range

Active: Kaiden fires his ultimate arrow, launching a thin global projectile in target direction. This arrow deals 150% ad physical damage to the first enemy champion hit plus additional damage based on distance travelled. If the arrow strikes an enemy champion, the arrow bounces in the direction of the mouse and gets faster, and gains 30% increased damage. This arrow will continue to bounce off of enemy champions until it leaves the map.

(While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, the screen will zoom out slightly)

(While perched within a ZT-35 Treetop Encampment Turret, if Kaiden launches a basic attack against an enemy turret while out of its range, the turrets team is alerted via a ping)

My Idea here was to address some of the inherent threats of standing still by literally placing Kaiden out of his opponents reach. I've also buffed his weaker steroids, and made it more about constantly attacking his opponents. Also buffed his range a little, giving him his biggest selling point--The ability to out-range turrets--5 levels earlier.

And the results are here. Once again, not very well liked, though hopefully i'll be able to use this to grow into a better champ designer. Probably not, but hell if that stops me from trying.

Have you thought about making his Q bounce off his W? It could add some more incentive for the enemy to kill his W while at the same time giving him more options on how to use his Q.
