[Champion Rework] Malphite, the Unstoppable Force

Just an attempt to make Malphite a little bit more dynamic and encouraging to play as a tank. His new abilities revolve around his new passive, which is partly his current one but mostly the "Guard" mechanic from Dragon Age: Inquisition, which the Warrior Class generates for actually playing the tank (knocking down enemies, taunting them, blocking their attacks).

I couldn't think of any ability names (other than his passive), and I'm not sure what to do with his E; I'm open to suggestions.


Abilities

Innate - Igneous Bulwark Malphite's basic abilities generate Guard, which absorbs incoming damage as a shield. Malphite can hold up to X Guard, which scales with level and his maximum health. After Malphite's Guard is broken, he cannot gain more for several seconds.

Q ACTIVE: Malphite rams his fist into the ground, creating a fissure in the targeted direction. After a brief delay, the fissure erupts in flame, slowing and dealing magic damage to enemies that pass over it. Malphite gains Guard if he passes over the fissure while it's active. Malphite cannot gain additional Guard from the same fissure more than once every few seconds.

W Active: Malphite empowers himself with volcanic energies for several seconds. Malphite gains temporary attack damage and his basic attacks swirl with flame for the duration, dealing splash damage. Malphite gains Guard for each nearby enemy and Guard for each nearby enemy champion upon activation, up to a cap

E Active: Malphite channels for up to 2 seconds. Malphite can move while channeling, but cannot attack or use his other abilities. Upon activation, Malphite slams the ground beneath him, dealing magic damage to all nearby enemies and reducing their attack speed for several seconds. The ability's range and attack speed debuff increase the longer Malphite channels. If the channel is interrupted, Malphite generates Guard.

R Active: Malphite roars, then charges toward the target location and leaps into the air, slamming down with immense force. Upon landing, Malphite deals physical damage to all enemies within the area and knocks them into the air for several seconds. Malphite cannot be interrupted during his charge by anything except his own death.

One of Malphite's skins needs to be Senator Armstrong. I mean, let's face it: PROJECT: Yasuo was based off of Raiden from MGS4. Why not have A MGSR skin for a champ as well? "SHUT UP NURSEAkali! I'll tell you when to gank...AND THAT'S RIGHT NOW!"

but for the mechanics I think it would be a improvement really it just needs some clean up to be even better.

Passive - The guard mechanic pool is very nice but how you spend it could be way better. here it seems a bit spammy and fast to gain hold on it again. you need some limitations and more interactions with his other abilitys.

Q - I like skill shots so I instantly approve. his current Q is just lame and not exciting at all. like this would be much nicer and skill based.

W - I think would connect well with the rest of his abilitys in combos.

E - here I become a bit more thoughtfull really. Channelling is always such a gamble eve more face to face. I would make a simple terrain targatable instead of the channel and for the extra burst of stats would make him spend his guard points to claim that cash. it would interact with his passive and would make the player think what to do with his guard points. the player could:

  1. tank everything and control space with his other abilitys and auto attacks. here people could move and trick him out.
  2. burst and spend everything for a single combo. here he would have to get a sure kill or he would be dead.

R - keeps his spirit alive, nice choice.

I like the idea of making his shield more like a resource than just turning on after X seconds, that is pretty cool. You left his ult alone, which is good, since that is probably the most iconic part of his kit. His E should stay relatively unchanged, since his AOE AS slow along with his armor stacking tendencies are what make him so good as an anti-ADC tank. Q sounds a little weird, and would likely kill his ganking power to not have the MS steal. W sounds ok, but having a nice simply AD+Armor steroid in his kit is part of what makes him so good.

TL;DR: The passive idea sounds great, but other than that, his kit doesn't need much if any change.

I like idea with empowering E...like Sions Q...with enlarging circle around Malphite. This change of Q looks like big nerf...please don't make this as skill shot.. :-). Like not changing of his R. And not like visual update....I love it. He will finally look "ROCK SOLID" and he really deserve that...haha this small dragon :-D

How the heck did this get bumped back to the recent? Kudos to whoever delved deep enough into the chasm of the Boards and pulled this beauty back up.

My opinion hasn't changed in two years. I still think Malph should get visually updated to look like this.

Might come back and drop some ability ideas if the OP is cool w/it.

Hmm. I always saw Malphtie as an AD champ. That alone would help him immensely.

How about this for an E? Brutal Strike: Malphite's next attack stuns the target and does extra damage in an aoe, everyone in the aoe has their attack speed slowed.

personally i luv the Model in this post it looks so dope better than his current model, also he's ap i think he should be an AD Tank/Fighter i mean he's all about geating in your face & samshing it to pieces you can do alot more with AD than AP.

I think your kit for him is too strong, only because this malphite would ALWAYS have his passive up. He can't have 3 abilities that make him keep it up. It would be like if pantheon's q or e kept his shield up making him always invulnerable.
